Scrambler driver, 20s, in 'serious condition' after collision with street pole
Gardaí and emergency services received a report of a scrambler bike having collided with a street light pole on The Royal Canal Way at Ashtown Gate in Dublin at around 5pm on Sunday.
The driver, a male in his 20s, was removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: 'Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a report of a serious injury road traffic collision that occurred on The Royal Canal Way, Ashtown Gate, Dublin 15 on Sunday, 17 August.'
They added: 'In particular, investigating Gardaí are appealing to pedestrians on The Royal Canal Way between the M50 Aqueduct and Ashtown Rail Station to contact them.
'Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Ashtown area between 4.45pm and 5.15pm are asked to make this footage available.
'Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on (01) 6667000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.'

Inquiry into alleged fraudulent resale of Electric Picnic tickets
Gardaí have said they are investigating alleged incidents of online fraud - the alleged resale of event tickets - that are believed to have occurred in recent weeks. Electric Picnic returns to Stradbally on 29 August, with tickets all sold out, except for resale tickets. Gardaí said they are appealing to anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of online fraud to please report it at your local garda station in person or by phone, or alternatively call the Freephone Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111. 'Influencer' under Garda investigation over alleged Electric Picnic tickets scam
A social media 'influencer' is under a garda investigation for allegedly scamming dozens of people into purchasing fake Electric Picnic tickets. The young woman, who is known in the beauty pageant world, is alleged to have coerced potentially hundreds of people to fork over money for the Stradbally festival in a sophisticated social media scam. Victims first came forward on social media to claim they had been scammed by the woman - who had used her own platform to claim she was selling two tickets to the sold out festival. Now several of the alleged victims have come forward to gardai and have made formal statements. The Garda fraud squad have formally opened an investigation into the claims. However Gardai have yet to speak to the young woman who is alleged to have ran the scam, and are hoping to speak to as many victims as possible first. There are fears that potentially hundreds of people could've been scammed in the process. The young woman appears to have deleted her presence on social media, where she enjoyed a large following of several thousand people. 'All event tickets are checked by our staff at entry to the event and again at the wristband exchange for camping shows – any forged tickets will be confiscated from you, you will not be permitted to the event and you may face questioning from the police,' they said. "We do not issue 'Print at home' tickets for Electric Picnic, any tickets that are offered for sale fitting that description are a scam. A second common scam occurs when genuine tickets, have already been cancelled by the seller with Ticketmaster, and are then sold to an unsuspecting fan. Man (20s) dies after single-vehicle collision in Cork
A man in his 20s has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Cork this morning. The incident occurred at about 6.50am on the M8 in Glanmire. The man was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital and was pronounced dead this afternoon. The road was closed as Garda forensic investigators remained at the scene. READ MORE Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has camera footage of the area between 6.40am and 7.15am is asked to contact gardaí. There have been 108 deaths on roads in the State so far this year, according to Garda figures.
