Two Maoists killed in exchange of fire in ASR district
Two Maoists of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces in Dimukonda forest, near Sesharai village of Y. Ramavaram mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said, 'The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed as the combing operation is in progress by 8.40 p.m. The two Maoists are a part of the 15-member group that had escaped from the Y. Ramavaram forest cover twice on April 28.' The police confirmed the recovery of two AK-47 weapons from the site.
'We are yet to come in contact with the combing operation teams on the field,' said Mr. Bardar.
On April 28, the Maoists had escaped from the combing teams in the hills of Kakulamamidi and Kantavaram forest area in the Maredumilli agency.

Jeevan joined the outfit around 1993, influenced by the growing Naxal presence in his village. He began his journey in the movement by working under the leadership of Divakar Kurchami, a commander from the Tipagadh Naxal group. Over the years, Jeevan played an instrumental role in spreading Maoist ideology by teaching at Naxal-run schools, including in the Marh area, where he was tasked with training new recruits. His wife Aarti, 38, is from Teli Tola village in Mohla, and was active in the movement for over 15 years. She was involved in Chetna Natya Mandali, a cultural wing of the Naxals, where she helped spread the ideology through folk performances. She was introduced to the Naxal cause through her association with Laxman Deshmukh, the leader of a local cultural group who had links with the Naxals. After her marriage to Jeevan in 2007, Aarti continued her work with the Chetna Natya Mandali in Manpur division, where she was eventually promoted to the position of ACM. Over the years, she also worked with the Naxal media and press teams. She carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on her head. The couple's decision to surrender comes after years of being disillusioned by the growing discrimination and exploitation within the organization. JJMP operative surrenders in Latehar
1 2 3 Daltonganj: Baijnath Singh (32), a sub-zonal commander of the banned LWE outfit Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), surrendered before cops in Latehar on Wednesday. Singh, who had been a part of the encounter with security forces in Herhunj in Latehar district in November last year, surrendered before DIG (Palamu Range) Naushad Alam and SP Kumar Gaurav. Singh, wanted in seven cases in five police stations in the district, was unarmed when he surrendered. "He had abandoned his AK-47 during November encounter as he ran for his life," Gaurav said. Sources said this is the first disintegration of JJMP after neutralisation of its chief Pappu Lohra and one more ultra of this outfit some weeks ago in Latehar.

Security forces defuse 14 IEDs in W S'bhum
Jamshedpur: Security forces busted an ammunition dump of the Maoists in Chitpil forest range under Toklo police station limits in West Singhbhum district on Tuesday. The police on Wednesday said 14 IEDs were recovered and diffused during the operation. The recoveries were made during a combing and search operation in the border areas of Chaibasa and Seraikela. The IEDs had been planted to target security forces, the police said. As much as 52 kg of ammonium nitrate, which is used to make explosives, was recovered from the dump, the police said in a statement on Wednesday. Security forces have, for the past one year carrying out operations in West Singhbhum and Seraikela to flush out the Maoists. The IEDs have killed several security personnel and locals in the past few months.
