Two Maoists killed in exchange of fire in ASR district
Two Maoists of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces in Dimukonda forest, near Sesharai village of Y. Ramavaram mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said, 'The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed as the combing operation is in progress by 8.40 p.m. The two Maoists are a part of the 15-member group that had escaped from the Y. Ramavaram forest cover twice on April 28.' The police confirmed the recovery of two AK-47 weapons from the site.
'We are yet to come in contact with the combing operation teams on the field,' said Mr. Bardar.
On April 28, the Maoists had escaped from the combing teams in the hills of Kakulamamidi and Kantavaram forest area in the Maredumilli agency.
