National Security Guards to train anti-terror squad of Puducherry police

Constable arrested for sexually harassing woman postal employee in Tiruchi
A police constable has been charged with sexually harassing a 25-year-old woman working in a post office here. N. Gopalakrishnan, 30, was a constable at Kanakiliyanallur police station in Lalgudi sub division under Tiruchi Rural Police. The action against the constable was taken based on a complaint preferred by the woman, a resident of Woraiyur in Tiruchi. She was riding a two-wheeler to the post office on August 8, when an unidentified person on a two-wheeler intercepted her and sexually harassed her, a police press release said. Acting on the complaint, Golden Rock police registered a case under BNS sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 126 (2) (wrongful restraint). The police checked the video footage of a CCTV camera at the spot where the incident occurred. It came to light during the probe that the complaint aganist the constable was true. He was arrested on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody. Since he was serving in Tiruchi Rural Police, Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi, S. After the firing stopped, the bodies of two Naxalites were recovered from the spot. The deceased cadres have been identified as Vijay Reddy and Lokesh Salame, Singh said. While Reddy, a member of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of Maoists, carried a bounty of ₹25 lakh, the government had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for the capture of Salame, a divisional committee member, he said.
