A grandfather has appeared in court accused of stealing fundraising money which well meaning donors thought was for his late daughter's cancer treatment.
Mark Davis, 51, from Newport, has been charged with defrauding mother-of-two India Davis, who was India Skinner by the time of her death, out of £4,059.27 while he was the administrator of a GoFundMe account which raised thousands of pounds in 2021.
Davis, of Fleetwood Close, denies the charge and will stand trial on April 21 next year. He was granted bail until then by Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke.
The defendant was represented by Jac Brown and Tom Roberts prosecuted during the brief hearing at Cardiff Crown Court.
Ms Davis died aged 24 after the ovarian cancer she was told had a ten percent chance of returning came back and became terminal.

Ms Davis, from Newport, died on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Grange Hospital in Cwmbran. She spoke to WalesOnline in 2021 to raise awareness of her condition, which you can read here.
Asked whether her experience had changed her outlook on life, she said then: 'I look at the world differently now. I could never hate anyone.
"I used to say I couldn't stand people, and I regret saying that. I'd never say that now, or feel that way about anyone. Life is too short to have those feelings.

'Keep complaining, keep going to the doctors, and keep telling them what you feel is wrong. My original diagnosis was a cyst. I've had to fight for years for my cancer to be recognised.'

'Murder' probe launched as mum found dead and police hunt for gold suitcase
The body of Samantha Murphy, 32, was found dead inside a property in Portsmouth this week - two 32-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of murder A murder investigation has been launched in Portsmouth after a mum-of-three was found dead, prompting a hunt for a gold suitcase which police are eager to find. Hampshire Police were called to the property at 7:37am on June 5. When they arrived to Wadham Road, officers found the body of Samantha Murphy, 32. Her family have been notified and officers are supporting them following the devastating revelation. Police launched an investigation after initial enquiries determined Samantha's death should be treated as suspicious. Officers later arrested a 32-year-old man from Petersfield and another 32-year-old man from Havant on suspicion of murder. They both remain in custody at this time, police added. District Commander, chief inspector Fifi Gulam-Husen said: "We understand that this is a concerning incident for the local community and specialist officers are working as a priority to establish the full circumstances. "The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out regular patrols in the area and anyone with questions or concerns can speak to these uniformed officers." Mum pays tribute 'cheeky and polite' teenager who died in Salford bike crash
The mother of a teenager who died in a motorbike crash says her "life will never be the same again".Kailem Robinson, 16, died alongside friend Kaine Darby, 17, after the bike they were riding together was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Viva in Lower Broughton, and Kaine were rushed to hospital, but later died of their injuries. Kailem's mother Jill has now issued a heartbreaking tribute to her "baby", who she said "always had a passion for bikes".She said: "Kailem was someone who was always polite; he was popular with everyone and would do anything to help people out."He had a cheeky smile and infectious laugh and was known as the class clown in school, always making everyone laugh."He always had a passion for his bikes from a young age and would help other kids on the street fixing theirs. He was very lovable with me, always telling me he loved me."The news has shocked the community. He was so loved by everyone, including his teachers and friends. Kailem was the best uncle to his nieces."Following the crash, tributes and flowers were place at the scene of the crash by friends and family. I wish you didn't on this day, but if you're happy son, then so am I," she spoke out to condemn the behaviour of those who remained at the scene with incidents of vandalism and spray painting."I don't condone the behaviour that has been going on at the scene since the accident - the spray-painting, vandalism and motorbikes riding round," she said."This is not what Kaine would have wanted. We want peace and to remember Kaine calmly, surrounded by his loved ones."
