Cadott woman accused of theft from multiple organizations enters not guilty pleas
Nicole R. Ruhe, 44, 27498 100th Ave., was charged in February in Chippewa County Court with three counts of theft in a business setting; all three counts are felonies.
At her arraignment Wednesday, Ruhe entered not guilty pleas on all three charges. Judge Benjamin Lane ordered trial dates to be scheduled, but those have not yet been set.
According to the criminal complaint, Ruhe has served for the Cadott Boys Basketball Association, the Cadott Community Association, and Boy Scout Troop 65 of Cadott. She is accused of accessing and taking funds from each organization.
'Nicole was interviewed multiple times and admitted to taking/using two of the three organizations' money and failing to return it,' the criminal complaint reads. 'Nicole only admitted to money that was able to be proven missing/unaccounted for with her responsibility as the treasurer.'
The basketball organization found $5,159.00 unaccounted for.
'They also found bank ledgers that had been provided by Nicole that had been changed in an attempt to mislead the [basketball organization] on the actual amounts the CBBA had in their account during meetings,' the complaint reads.
Investigators then learned Ruhe was active in the Boy Scouts.
'From reviewing the troop's bank account and known profitable activities, it was found $4,095.03 was unaccounted for and other fundraising profits had never been documented submitted into the troop's account,' the complaint reads. 'Nicole was questioned again on the missing money to which no specific reasoning or answers were given for much of the unaccounted-for money or other profits.'
The CCA also suspected Ruhe, who was treasurer, was stealing money.
'The CCA suspected anywhere from $4,000-$9,000 was unaccounted for based on their knowledge and findings,' the complaint reads. 'From reviewing The CCA's account information and records there were similar behaviors observed in Nicole's record keeping and submission of funds to their bank that were also observed with the CBBO and BSAs. Nicole's records submitted to the CCA were found to differ $2,486.25 to $10,995.92 from 2022-2023 from that of the CCA's bank records showed.'
The officers met with Ruhe and reviewed the ledgers she kept.
'Nicole indicated her using the money was [due to] falling on hard times and being out of work from her heart surgery for six months and only getting half her normal wage,' the complaint reads.

A taxi driver said he 'shouldn't be shot at' while trying to work to feed his family after a thug repeatedly fired a BB gun at his vehicle during a terrifying incident. Liam Blackburn took offense at being asked to pay £3.70 upfront for his taxi journey in Thorntree and said it should only be £3.50. He began arguing it should be £3.50 - 20p below the fare requested by the victim. He handed him £10 but as he tried to sort his change Blackburn told the driver to drive, said Mr Faulks. "He called him a c*** and threatened to smash him in". Blackburn got out of the car, leaving the door open, so the driver got out to close it. He was then "racially abused by a number of women in the street" before Blackburn appeared with a "small black glock type handgun" and began firing it at the taxi. It was an air weapon handgun but Teesside Crown Court heard that as the victim drove away one of the windows shattered. The passenger side window had a "clear hole in it". Police were called and armed officers attended the house. The victim said: "The incident has left me feeling very shocked and very sad... I am a father and a husband and I go to work to provide a service for the public... I should not be shot at." The damage to the car cost £400. While on police bail, on September 29, 2024, Blackburn and another person arrived at the rear of the Sporting Lodge Inn Hotel, in Stainton, in a taxi. Blackburn emerged with a large machete and they went into the rear of the bar area. "He reappeared follow by the assailant who was carrying a bag. People in the bar would not engage with police," Mr Faulks said. But Blackburn was identified by an officer from CCTV footage. "On October 24, he was at his father's address in Stockton. Armed police officers attended to arrest him," said Mr Faulks. Officers found a bag in the garden which had inside a sawn off shotgun which was "loaded and ready to fire". Analysis showed Blackburn's fingerprints were among those on the gun and he was charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm - prohibited weapon. Rod Hunt, mitigating, said the death of Blackburn's mother was "completely devastating" in his family life and the now 22-year-old found himself looking for "guidance and acceptance in the wrong places" which has been "seized upon by others". "This defendant is still only 22. He is still a work in progress. He is going, now, in the right direction," said Mr Hunt. Blackburn, of Roworth Road, Thorntree, admitted possess an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, criminal damage, a section 4 public order offence, conspiracy to possess a firearm, and possession of a knife blade article in a public place. Blackburn was jailed for five years and was made subject to a criminal behaviour order upon his release. This will prevent him from associating with named individuals and attending "well known hotbeds of drug dealing and weapon offences". Florida man arrested after beating up golfer over slow play, deputies say

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - A Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly beat up another man on a golf course after the man was playing too slow. What happened? What we know According to an arrest warrant, Jason Hughes attacked a golfer on a course in Kissimmee in June. Hughes told Osceola County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) deputies that he was upset with the pace of the man's play. The man reported he and Hughes exchanged words on the course. According to the warrant, the man was playing with a friend in front of Hughes. Hughes said he told the man more than once to hurry up. The warrant stated the boiling point for Hughes was the man talking to his friend while ahead on the green. The report said both men were separated by their playing partners. Hughes and his playing partner got in their golf cart and took it to their car in the lot. The man declined an ambulance to the hospital, but was driven by a friend instead. Officials tracked Hughes down with the help of the golf course. The club provided deputies with surveillance video of Hughes and gave them his name based on the credit card used to make the reservation. Hughes was booked into the Osceola County Jail on Thursday. He is being charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm. Hughes made his first appearance on Friday, and a judge set his bond at $2,500. One condition of his bond is that he cannot play golf on any course open to the public.
