Painful MLB broadcasts are putting focus on all the wrong things

New York Post8 hours ago

Seems every MLB telecast now comes with a dare: How many extraneous, superfluous and mindless artificial additives can we endure before we tap out?
How much empty yak and phony belly laughs from the booth can we indulge? How many distracting interviews, misapplied and mindless stats? How many gambling come-ons or 'first 18,000 guests' promos?
How much more bad baseball can be witnessed but left unspoken by paid TV experts?
5 David Cone, Michael Kay, and Paul O'Neill at Yankee Stadium in the YES booth.
YES
How many meaningless stats and full-screen StatCast graphics can be presented as meaningful? How many 'who cares?' examinations and dubious identifications of every pitch and their velocities? How many swing-and-miss Steve Gelbs' not-funny comedic intrusions when none are needed?

Pesky Pirates win second-straight over Phillies; Davis slugs another clutch homer

This article originally appeared on Isaac Mattson reported to PNC Park at about 1:30 in the afternoon prior to the Pittsburgh Pirates' win against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Advertisement The Pirates recalled the right-hander from Triple-A Indianapolis in a slew of roster moves ahead of the second game of the weekend series. Manager Don Kelly wasted no time throwing Mattson into the fire. Pirates' starter Andrew Heaney left the game with a calf cramp in the top of the seventh inning after throwing a wild pitch that allowed Alec Bohm to move up to third base with nobody out. The first reliever out of the bullpen? Mattson. His job? Find a way to keep the game tied 1-1. Click here to read more from Download the FREE WPXI News app for breaking news alerts. Yankees hitting coach James Rowson ejected vs. Red Sox for arguing balls and strikes

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees hitting coach James Rowson was ejected in the fourth inning Saturday night against the Boston Red Sox for arguing balls and strikes. Rowson was frustrated by plate umpire Bruce Dreckman's strike zone and the situation escalated when the coach was upset by a called strike on Jasson Domínguez, whose at-bat ended with a strikeout. Advertisement On the second pitch of the at-bat, Rowson's yelling from the dugout prompted the ejection. Dreckman removed his mask, took a few steps towards New York's dugout and made the ejection signal. It was New York's fourth ejection this season and Rowson's third since becoming the Yankees' hitting coach last season. It was the fifth career ejection of Rowson's coaching career. The Yankees trailed 8-3 when Rowson was ejected and scored twice afterward. ___ AP MLB:
