. Based in Dubai, Broad will oversee the brand's international operations and franchise partnerships, with a focus on accelerating global growth and delivering exceptional guest experiences worldwide.
Broad served as Managing Director of TGI Fridays UK from 1997 to 2000. In addition to his deep understanding of the brand, he has over 30 years of global leadership experience in the food and beverage, hospitality and retail sectors. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to drive strategic transformation, unlock new markets and deliver high-performance results in culturally diverse and dynamic environments.

Before rejoining Fridays, Broad served as Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage at Alghanim Industries, where he led a portfolio of more than 270 restaurants across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). During his tenure, he introduced Slim Chickens to the Middle East, redefined the Costa Coffee brand in Saudi Arabia through a partnership with the Saudi Coffee Company and oversaw the rapid expansion of Wendy's in the region. His leadership earned him multiple honors, including the Growth Mindset Award from Wendy's International and Franchisee of the Year for both Costa Coffee and Wendy's.
Earlier in his career, Broad held senior roles at IHG, Jumeirah Restaurants and Starbucks UK & Ireland, where he led operations for hundreds of locations and launched innovative programs, including the Starbucks Card and the brand's first UK drive-thru. While leading TGI Fridays UK, he was named International Operator of the Year.
Broad's appointment comes at a time of exciting momentum for TGI Fridays, which is currently in a transformational growth phase with nearly 300 international locations and a robust development pipeline.

US Imposes Sweeping New Sanctions On Iranian Shipping Network
The US Treasury Department has announced new sanctions targeting the global shipping interests reportedly controlled by Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, son of senior Iranian official Ali Shamkhani, in what it described as the most significant Iran-related action since 2018. The sanctions aim to dismantle what Treasury officials called a 'vast network' used to sell Iranian and Russian oil through container ships and tankers operated by front companies and intermediaries. The network, they said, generated tens of billions of dollars used to support the Iranian government. 'These profits have helped prop up the Iranian regime,' the Treasury stated, accusing Shamkhani of leveraging corruption and personal connections in Tehran to evade existing restrictions. In total, the action designates 15 shipping firms, 52 vessels, 12 individuals, and 53 entities involved in sanctions evasion, with operations spanning 17 countries, including Panama, Italy, Hong Kong, the UAE, and the UK. A US official said the measure was 'tailored' to avoid disrupting global oil markets while striking specific targets. 'From our perspective, given where this individual fits, given his connection to the supreme leader and his father's previous sanctions activities, given the Iran-related authorities, it's critically important to emphasize that this is an Iran action that is meaningful and very impactful,' the official said. The EU sanctioned Shamkhani earlier in July for his role in the Russian oil trade, and his father, Ali Shamkhani, was sanctioned by the US in 2020. Tehran condemned the decision as a hostile move, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei calling it a 'blatant assault on the Iranian people and their national dignity,' adding that it reflected 'the hostility of American policymakers towards the Iranian people.' He accused Washington of seeking to 'cripple Iran's development, sow internal discord, and erode the rights and livelihoods of ordinary citizens.' 'The Iranian people, fully aware of the malicious intent of the aggressive sanctioning party …, will stand firm with all their might to safeguard their dignity and interests,' Baghaei said. He criticized the US's 'addiction' to unilateralism and said its measures repeatedly violated 'international law, human rights, and freedom of sovereign trade.' He called for international accountability and reaffirmed Iran's 'unshakeable resolve' to defend its sovereignty and continue its development goals. Sanctioned entities include Sepehr Energy Jahan Nama Pars Company, linked to Iran's Armed Forces General Staff. Among the targeted vessels are Bendigo, Carnatic, Luna Prime, Goodwin, Davina, and Spirit of Casper.

Member of Parliament Hassan Ibrahim has welcomed the suite of major agreements signed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during his official visit to the United States. He described the deals — valued at an estimated $17 billion — as a clear proof of the strong friendship binding Bahrain and the U.S. 'These agreements move the Bahrain–US partnership into a new phase,' said Mr Ibrahim. He added: 'They show how determined the leadership is to draw in investment, open up job opportunities and build national skills for the good of everyday Bahrainis.' Among the standout agreements is a major aviation deal that will see Gulf Air acquire new aircraft and engines from Boeing and General Electric. In parallel, Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat has committed up to $2 billion to support industrial projects in the U.S., particularly in aluminium-linked manufacturing. Bahrain's digital ambitions also took a leap forward with plans to build a strategic undersea cable linking the Kingdom with neighbouring Gulf states. Meanwhile, the signing of a civil nuclear cooperation accord — known as the 123 Agreement — paves the way for Bahrain to explore peaceful atomic energy as part of its long-term net-zero strategy. The Kingdom also entered into new partnerships with American tech giants Oracle and Cisco to accelerate its digital transformation and advance capabilities in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
