Packets of sliced cheese are being removed from shelves at Tesco as they could contain listeria. The alert concerns 150g packs of Le Superbe Raclette with a best before date of May 12, 2025.
Castelli UK Ltd is recalling the product because of the possible presence of listeria monocytogenes, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA). The recall affects Tesco stores only.
A 'risk statement' on the FSA website said: "The possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the above product.

"Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
"Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems."
The alert went on: "If you have bought this product do not eat it. Instead, return it to where it was purchased for a full refund. For more information contact 01732 835446."
