The contestants had a unique opportunity to pose for photographs alongside life-sized cut-outs of themselves, which they also personally signed. The programme commenced with a warm welcome and an overview of AIG Hospitals' legacy delivered by Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals.
'Following the introduction, the contestants were divided into two groups for an immersive walkthrough of the hospital facilities. The tour included visits to the Endoscopy Suites, AI Experience Centre, Chemo Ward with patient interactions, Research Centre, Skill Labs, and the Pediatric Ward, guided by senior medical professionals including Dr Nageshwar Reddy, Dr Sujana Priya, Dr GV Rao, and Dr Lakshmi,' said the release.

This was followed by a presentation on public health initiatives by the Telangana government, focusing on cancer and women's health programmes, delivered by Dr Christina Z Chongthu, Secretary to the Government, Health, Medical & Family Welfare Department.
Highlighting Hyderabad's emergence as a global medical tourism hub, Dr Nageshwar Reddy said, 'Telangana is rapidly becoming a beacon of medical excellence, combining world-class infrastructure and cutting-edge technology with compassionate care. Hosting the Miss World event here shines a global spotlight on our healthcare advancements, and we are proud to showcase the city's growing role as a leading destination for medical tourists.'
Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, said, 'We are delighted that the Miss World Festival can provide a platform to highlight Hyderabad's impressive healthcare ecosystem. We are please to bring international attention to Telangana's commitment to world-class medical care.'
Hyderabad's medical tourism sector has witnessed remarkable growth, with foreign patient inflows more than doubling over the past decade. From just over 75,000 foreign patients in 2014, Telangana attracted 1.55 lakh international medical tourists in 2024. On the domestic front, nearly 8.82 crore patients from other Indian states sought medical care in Telangana last year alone. 'Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Telangana is swiftly establishing itself as a global medical tourism hub, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure, world-class medical professionals, and strong government backing. The 72nd Miss World event further elevates Telangana's image as a unified global health destination,' the release read.

What is USCIS's new policy for green card applicants starting from 11 June? Here's a rundown

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reversed a recent policy regarding medical examination forms required for green card applicants. What does the new policy say? Effective 11 June 2025, all new green card applications must include a fresh medical examination form, regardless of whether the applicant had submitted one previously. The agency's latest update replaces a policy introduced just over a year ago, which had allowed applicants to reuse Form I-693—the 'Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record'—indefinitely, as long as it was properly filled out and signed by a certified civil surgeon. ALSO READ| 'Won't tolerate visa abuse,' says US after video of handcuffed Indian student goes viral 'Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, signed by a civil surgeon on or after Nov. 1, 2023, is only valid while the application the Form I-693 was submitted with is pending,' the USCIS said in its statement. 'If the application a Form I-693 was submitted with is withdrawn or denied, that Form I-693 is no longer valid. This guidance is effective immediately and applies to applications pending or filed on or after June 11, 2025.' It details that if a green card application is denied or withdrawn, the accompanying medical form cannot be reused. Any subsequent application will now require a new medical examination and an updated I-693 form. 'Most aliens subject to health-related grounds of inadmissibility must have an immigration medical examination to demonstrate they are not inadmissible,' USCIS added. 'In general, aliens applying to adjust status must submit Form I-693 to show they are free from any conditions that would render them inadmissible under the health-related grounds of inadmissibility. We may require an alien who would otherwise not be required to undergo an immigration medical examination to submit a Form I-693 as a matter of discretion, if the evidence indicates that there may be a public health concern.' The now-revoked April 2024 guidance had made the validity of Form I-693 indefinite. 'We have since determined that the April 4, 2024, policy is overly broad and could potentially threaten public health in the United States,' USCIS said. Trump's new American green card policy triggers turmoil amid LA riots; what has changed, documents required, and other details

The Trump administration announced an immediate policy shift on Wednesday(June 11), requiring all American green card applicants to submit a new medical examination form, even if a valid version had already been submitted. The change affects Form I‑693, formerly known as the 'Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record.' The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) stated that the medical form will no longer be valid for reuse if a green card application is withdrawn or denied, regardless of when it was completed. That flexibility is now gone. Live Events 'We have since determined that the April 4, 2024, policy is overly broad and could potentially threaten public health in the United States,' USCIS stated, adding that the shift would ensure applicants receive 'timely and proper medical examinations and treatment.' Starting June 11, 2025, anyone reapplying for permanent residency must retake the medical exam, even if their earlier I‑693 is still recent and technically valid. Added financial burden for applicants Medical exams by authorized civil surgeons can cost between $100 and $500, depending on the provider and region. Immigration attorneys warn that the sudden shift could mean many applicants will need to pay again. 'Time was that they would at least give you some grace period,' said immigration attorney Matt Cameron of Boston. 'This means that things that were in the mail this week are going to be invalid, potentially.' 'They have made every kind of contact with the immigration system more difficult,' Cameron added. The change follows similar abrupt shifts earlier this made last-minute changes to immigration forms in March 2025, triggering lawsuits and backlash that forced the agency to provide a two-week transition period. This time, there is no such buffer. A new version of the I‑693 form will become mandatory beginning July 3, 2025. Bigger picture The update comes as the Trump administration intensifies immigration enforcement. Federal agents detained Mahmoud Khalil in March, a green card holder and Columbia University graduate, citing his support for pro-Palestinian protests as grounds for deportation under national security concerns. Other permanent residents have reportedly been detained after returning from abroad or had their green cards revoked, actions previously seen as rare but now increasingly frequent. Though USCIS emphasizes this is about public health, critics say it's part of a pattern: adding red tape, costs, and uncertainty to discourage legal immigration. The LA protests This policy change also comes against the backdrop of massive immigrant rights protests in Los Angeles, where tensions are reaching a boiling point. Over the past week, thousands have marched through downtown LA, outraged by federal immigration raids and the arrival of National Guard and Marine forces. Protesters accuse the government of militarizing their neighborhoods and breaking up families without accountability. Community groups have since held nightly vigils, some blocking streets to protest what they call 'deportation without justice.'

"Stay alert and take all precautions": UP Deputy CM Pathak on heatwave conditions

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 11 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday urged citizens to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions amid the ongoing severe heatwave conditions sweeping the state. Addressing the escalating temperatures, Pathak highlighted the measures taken by the Health Department to manage the crisis. He noted that hospitals in the state are on high alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies. He also urged citizens to only step out of the house unnecessarily during such severe heatwaves. 'In view of the extreme heat conditions, the Health Department has made necessary arrangements. All hospitals have been put on alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies, and continuous monitoring is underway. Citizens are advised not to step out unless necessary. If stepping out, they should protect their heads with an umbrella or towel, as the sunlight is currently very intense. Please stay alert and take all precautions,' he said. The heatwave has particularly affected many regions of the state, with heatwaves reported in a few places over South Uttar Pradesh, with gradual respite from the heatwave over Northwest India likely from 14th June as per the India Meteorological Department. Ayodhya District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde also outlined proactive steps to mitigate its impact. 'We had prepared an action plan considering the heatwave in Ayodhya and according to this, a strategy was made for the steps to be taken by various departments. We are ensuring that the residents and tourists face no inconvenience and get enough cold water to drink. We have arranged shades and water for domestic as well as street animals. We appeal to all the tourists to stay in the shade while visiting the temple (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple). If you need any medical help, we have reserved special beds for those affected by the heatwave. Consistently drink cold water,' Funde stated, emphasising the administration's efforts to support both locals and pilgrims. Speaking on the completion of 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in the centre, Pathak said that the vision of Viksit Bharat was being realised through unprecedented progress across sectors, from space science to medical and agricultural advancements. 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has been on a development journey for the past 11 years. In this context, a public seminar was held today in Lucknow. The vision of a Viksit Bharat is being realised through unprecedented progress across sectors, from space science to medical and agricultural advancements,' Pathak remarked. (ANI)
