Ajman to host 2025 Asian Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship for first time
Ajman, UAE: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, and in the presence of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, Ajman is all ready to host the 58th Asian Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship for the first time from June 15 to 17, 2025, at the Emirates Hospitality Centre. This championship will feature more athletes from 23 Asian countries, marking a significant milestone in Ajman's sporting history.
Along with the prestigious championship, the Emirate will also host the Asian Bodybuilding Federation's Annual Congress on June 14. A group of prominent figures, elite athletes and stakeholders from across the Asian continent, as well as heads of Asian and international federations will come together to discuss ways to develop the sport of bodybuilding at continental and global levels.
The Ajman Department of Tourism Development will hold the official opening ceremony on Sunday morning, in the presence of dignitaries, officials, and representatives from local and regional sports federations, as well as the media and the public. The ceremony will include the official unveiling of the championship's logo and mascot, 'Mayed,' following its recent launch at the Arabian Travel Market, along with traditional cultural performances celebrating Emirati heritage and Ajman's unique cultural identity.
This prestigious championship offers a valuable platform to demonstrate Ajman's organisational excellence and promote its growing reputation as a hub for tourism, culture, and international events. UAE midday break for workers starts
The UAE's midday break for outdoor workers came into effect on Sunday. The break runs until September 15 and prohibits work under direct sunlight and in open-air spaces between 12.30pm and 3pm. The annual initiative, overseen by the ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, was first introduced in 2004 and gives employees respite from the scorching summer heat. The ministry said 51 infractions were uncovered last year as a result of 134,000 inspections, down from 96 the previous year.

Tadej Pogacar 'super happy' after sealing first Criterium du Dauphine crown for UAE Team Emirates
UAE Team Emirates-EXG rider Tadej Pogacar secured the first Criterium du Dauphine crown of his remarkable career after finishing third in Sunday's eighth and final stage. With the Tour de France less than a month away, the Slovenian sealed his latest title after coming home behind great rival Jonas Vingegaard and stage winner Lenny Martinez of France. It meant Pogacar won the general classification by 59 seconds ahead of Team Visma-Lease a Bike's Vingegaard, with German rider Florian Lipowitz, of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, a further one minute 38 seconds behind the Dane. Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, of Soudal Quick-Step, came fourth. Pogacar had decided not to defend his Giro d'Italia title last month which saw Isaac del Toro look set to earn UAE Team Emirates a second successive overall victory, only for the Mexican to surrender his lead to Simon Yates on the race's penultimate stage. But last year's triple crown winner roared back into action in style as he secured victory in a race the 26-year-old had only entered once previously, finishing fourth in 2020. Pogacar won three stages – taking his career tally to 98 – on his way to the title after taking over the leader's yellow jersey by claiming victory on Friday's Stage 6 following a trademark surge in the French Alps. 'A really amazing week,' said the three-time Tour de France champion. 'Once again today great job by the team and they've managed to defend the jersey. We can go home happy to prepare for the Tour. 'A lot of positives and all the negatives will turn into positives so it's all good. 'We go to altitude camp at Isola 2000, then three days home, and to the Tour. Inter forward Taremi stranded in Iran amid conflict, to miss Club World Cup
Inter Milan forward Mehdi Taremi has been left stranded in Iran after failing to get a flight out of the country amid its conflict with Israel, a club source told Reuters, with Italian media reporting the 32-year-old will miss the Club World Cup. Iranian airspace was closed after Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran on Friday. Taremi played in Iran's 3-0 win over North Korea in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran last week. Inter begin their Club World Cup campaign on Tuesday, taking on Mexico's Monterrey in Pasadena followed by two games in Seattle against Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan and Argentina's River Plate. Taremi made 43 appearances in all competitions for Inter in the 2024-25 season, scoring three goals.
