According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, the Spurs never made an offer to the Phoenix Suns for Durant, who was traded to the Houston Rockets
The Spurs have the second overall pick in this year's draft, the 2025 Rookie of the Year, Stephon Castle, and two All-Stars, Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox.
While San Antonio hasn't made the playoffs since 2019, the future of the franchise appears to be bright with Castle, Wembanyama and Fox leading the way.
The Spurs could make some trades this offseason once the new league year begins on July 6. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, San Antonio has held some exploratory talks about trading for Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis.

However, the Spurs are unlikely to trade for the NBA champion.
'Another team we've heard with a level of Porzingis interest: San Antonio,' Fischer wrote. 'The Spurs, sources say, have held some exploratory talks about trading for the 7-foot-2 center. That would certainly be a fascinating outcome for Porzingis if he were to land with the on-the-rise Spurs alongside the 7-foot-5 Victor Wembanyama.
'As Monday night dribbled into Tuesday morning, I was cautioned that San Antonio, in the end, should probably be classified as an unlikely destination for Porzingis.'

The Celtics are widely expected to trade Porzingis this offseason. They already traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons.

Porzingis averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Celtics this season. He struggled with an illness in the 2025 playoffs and had trouble breathing. The All-Star averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists.
The 29-year-old Porzingis will make $30.7 million next season in the final year of his contract. It will be fascinating to see where he's playing in 2025-26.
