Bronx BMW driver arrested for fatally striking 75-year-old man walking home from mosque
A BMW driver has been arrested after a four-month investigation for fatally striking a 75-year-old Bronx man walking home from mosque, police said Thursday.
Rafael Delgado, 61, was charged Wednesday with reckless endangerment, failure to yield and failure to exercise due care, cops said.
Victim Wahid Miah had the right of way as he crossed Wood Ave. and White Plains Road in Parkchester about 1:20 p.m. Feb. 3.
But Delgado, making a left turn in his 2023 BMW SUV to head south on White Plains Road, slammed into Miah, police said.
Video obtained by News 12 The Bronx shows Miah, putting his hands out trying to get the driver to stop moments before he was struck. He was less than half a mile from home when he was hit.
Medics rushed Miah to Jacobi Medical Center but he could not be saved.
'The accident is so terrible,' Miah's neighbor, Shameem Ahmed, told News 12 at the time. 'I've never seen anything like this in my life.'
'The community is really shocked and last night we went to his house to say sympathy to his family and all community people,' Ahmed added.
Delgado remained at the scene but was not initially charged.
After cops completed their investigation this week, Delgado was arrested and given a desk appearance ticket to appear in court at a later date, police said. He lives in Soundview, according to cops.

Grizzlies' 7-foot-4 phenom allegedly blazed through 55-mph zone in Indiana
Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey was reportedly stopped in Indiana for allegedly speeding through a 55-mph zone earlier this month. The 7-foot-4 basketball player was charged with reckless driving and will make a court appearance in Tippecanoe County next week, according to online records. Edey was clocked going around 101 mph on Indiana 25 on May 1, the Journal & Courier reported, citing a police affidavit. Edey reportedly said he was trying to pass another vehicle, which was his reasoning for speeding. Edey, who stands at 7'4", was the ninth pick of last year's NBA Draft after winning the Naismith Player of the Year in his final two seasons as a Boilermaker. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team, putting up 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. He recently underwent ankle surgery that could result in his missing the start of the 2025-26 season. Edey needed the procedure to repair and restabilize his ankle after spraining it again during offseason training last week. The Grizzlies said the 7-foot-4 Canadian would be evaluated again in four months, which is less than two weeks before the 2025-26 season opens Oct. 21. Edey missed 12 games early in the season because of a sprained left ankle. He went on to play in 66 games, making 55 starts. His Grizzlies clinched the eight-seed in the Western Conference, but were swept by the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, who are one win away from their first championship since moving from Seattle, in the first round. Both Todd and Julie Chrisley were pardoned by President Donald Trump and released from federal custody last month. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Chrisley, 56, took to TikTok on Wednesday to claim that he and his wife were targeted by former Georgia Department of Revenue investigator Josh Waites as 'big fish.' The Chrisleys have maintained that they were investigated partly for their celebrity status. In his TikTok post, he cited investigations by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and former Channel 2 Action News reporters Richard Belcher and Jodie Fleischer. The Revenue Department fired Waites in 2020 after the two news organizations reported that he had misstated his education credentials on a state document. However, a grand jury declined to indict him in 2022. Channel 2 Action News also reported that Waites' unit held onto more than $5 million in seized assets that should have gone straight into the state treasury. Suspect arrested in horrific NYC rush-hour subway stabbing that injured 2
Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a horrific stabbing that left two individuals injured aboard a crowded New York City subway train Wednesday. Footage obtained by FOX 5 New York captured the attack that police said unfolded as the train pulled into Grand Central Terminal during the morning rush hour around 7:20 a.m. Law enforcement located the suspect, identified as Gavin Ferguson, 30, who was accused of running from the scene after stabbing two men in the stomach. Ferguson now faces charges of attempted murder and second-degree assault. "On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at approximately 0720 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a person stabbed at Grand Central Terminal," the New York Police Department told Fox News Digital. "Upon arrival, officers were informed a 28-year-old male had been stabbed in the abdomen and a 32-year-old male stabbed in the abdomen and buttocks by an unidentified individual," the police added. Video of the incident appears to show the suspect cornering a man who climbed onto a train bench before getting stabbed at least twice. Fellow passengers seemed frozen in shock as they watched in horror from the sidelines. Police said the suspect fled in an unknown direction following the attack, which stemmed from an argument. Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident and both the victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.
