Emmerdale star confirms unexpected exit - and addresses if he will ever return

Metroa day ago

Geoff Dignan, the star who plays Aidan Moore in Emmerdale, has revealed whether we will see the character again in the near future.
Aidan Moore was first mentioned by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) when his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) discovered the man's army dog tags. John revealed that he was very close to Aidan when they were in the army, but he sadly died.
Weeks before John and Aaron Dingle's (Danny Miller) stag do, Vic contacted Connor, an old friend of John's. When Aidan was mentioned, Connor confirmed that he wasn't dead, but he was in a coma in hospital.
John managed to create a cover story when confronted by Aaron and Vic, claiming that it was easier for him to pretend Aidan had died, rather than face the fact he was in a coma.
This huge lie was to hide the fact John had been visiting Aidan in hospital for ages. Days before his wedding, John learnt that Aidan had woken up from his coma, therefore increasing the chance of his true self being exposed.
John had planned to kill Aidan, but he wasn't able to go through with it. Instead, after suffering cardiac arrest, Aidan slipped back into his coma. It was a devastating moment for Aidan's mum Cathleen but one filled with relief for John, who was in the clear once more.
Following this moment, star Geoff Dignan has revealed whether we could see Aidan again.
On social media platform X, he shared a variety of behind the scenes pictures and wrote alongside: 'I had an absolute blast playing Aidan Moore in #emmerdale I've met great people from the crew to the very talented cast.Thank you to my agent @StarkTalentUK. More Trending
'Who knows what's in store 4 Aidan, after all it is Emmerdale, he's woke up once… why not one more time.'

John and Aaron's wedding was interrupted thanks to Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) returning. He had been released from prison, and was back to try and stop Aaron from marrying his distant relative.
After a confrontation though, Aaron chose John over Robert and they headed off on their honeymoon.
The couple will be in for a shock when they get back, however, as the police now know the body in the lake belongs to Nate Robinson.

Elis James and John Robins #443 - Mockproof Robins, Medium Cod +1 and Good Black Eps

After a week when John offered apology texts to Elis, Dave and the production team for being in a bad mood, he's back to his Billy best. There's a bright ray of sunshine in his heart and nethers which clears the studio air. No black eps today and Elis can leave the studio without an impending sense of worry. But there are challenges afoot for our hero, as he contends with holidaying with one whose administrative approach sits in bleak contrast to his own. Luckily he's superchillathon, and amidst such admin fears there's a decision to build a harvesting coop for the nation's Good Eggs. Plus Elis's mocking of a reaction to some quality snap bags sees the Welshman hoisted by a double sealed petard. Check out this week's Bureau bonus on Saturday, only on BBC Sounds, where rumour has it there's a very special guest joining the chaps. Speaking on the Lewis Nicholls Show, he said: 'I'm going to be a little bit controversial here. 'I don't see EastEnders as anywhere near the highlight of my career. 'It was a lovely job and I respect it. But for me… they'd asked me so many times before.' Recalling the offer from EastEnders, Jamie continued: 'They said, 'it's with the best family, it's full on, you can do as long as you want'. I said, 'I only want to do it for a year'. 'I went and met with them and they made me all manner of promises that they never kept, like 'you'll never work a Saturday'. I did every Saturday. I was the first in, last out every day.' Jamie's character Derek was killed off during the Christmas Day 2012 episode when he suffered a heart attack. In his short time as a resident of Albert Square Derek cemented himself as one of the soap's most notorious bad boys. He had an affair with Alfie Moon's wife Kat Slater, tormented Pat Butcher on her death bed and told Sharon Watts' son Denny the truth about his dad Dennis Rickman. It's not the first time Jamie has spoken negatively about his time on the show. Penny Branning calls her dad 'big man Jack' in EastEnders In 2013 he appeared on Daybreak and said: 'I hated the scenes in the Queen Vic, I'm terribly sorry to everybody! 'I'm sure a lot of the cast will say the same thing - they're so long and laborious. 'You've got to stand there and wait for somebody over there to stop talking, so you're listening to that conversation, then it cuts to somebody else. You never shoot a scene quickly in there.'
