Woman stabbed to death and two others injured in brutal workplace knife attack
A man has allegedly stabbed a colleague to death and seriously injured two others in a horrific workplace knife attack in Germany.
The violence unfolded shortly before 7.30am at an energy company in the Bavarian town of Mellrichstadt. Police said a 21-year-old suspect, a German national and employee of Überlandwerk Rhön, launched a knife attack on several colleagues after arriving at the workplace.
A 59-year-old woman tragically died from multiple stab wounds to her upper body, including her neck. Two men, aged 55 and 62, also suffered serious injuries in the incident, reports the Mirror.
Emergency services, including police and medical teams, rushed to the scene, and the suspect was quickly arrested. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
A police spokesperson said: 'Caring for the injured is our top priority, as is clarifying the exact circumstances of the crime.' A knife believed to have been used in the attack has been recovered.
A police statement on social media platform X added: 'A man, already in custody, injured a total of four people from a company on Sondheimer Straße with a sharp object, some seriously. The care of the injured is being facilitated by a large deployment of emergency services.'
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but authorities confirmed all those involved—including the deceased and the suspect—were employees of the regional electricity supplier, which has a workforce of around 220.

The Bavarian Red Cross deployed 30 emergency personnel to provide both medical treatment and psychological support to employees. Around 50 people who either witnessed the attack or were affected are being cared for.
A contact point for family members and members of the public has been set up at the Oskar-Herbig-Halle on Bahnhofstraße.
The Schweinfurt Criminal Investigation Department, working closely with the public prosecutor's office, has taken over the case. A senior prosecutor is also on site as the investigation into the motive and circumstances continues.

The German was hoping for a productive run at Wimbledon but saw his hopes ended in the first round by Arthur Rinderknech. It was one of the biggest upsets in the first round of Wimbledon, with Rinderknech defying his world ranking of 72 to stun three-time Grand Slam finalist Zverez. Zverez showed admirable spirit to force a fifth-set decider but was unable to produce the goods in a gruelling contest that almost lasted five hours, ultimately losing 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (8-10) 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-4. The 28-year-old started the year by reaching the Australian Open final but just six months on has been left feeling 'empty and alone'. Zverev was accused of domestic abuse by his former girlfriend Olya Sharypova in 2020 and by the mother of his child, Brenda Patea, in 2023. He has repeatedly denied both sets of allegations and a Berlin court case brought by Patea was discontinued last year. Heartbreak as school age kids found on squalid farm in nappies unable to speak proper language

The grim discovery was made when emergency services arrived to evacuate the property following a flood warning. Officers stumbled upon the reclusive family living in squalor, with rubbish littering the garden and broken furniture and derelict trampolines left to rot outside the ramshackle farmhouse. The siblings, born in Germany before later moving to Italy, were removed from their parents by order of the Turin Juvenile Court. The court ruled: 'There are facts that suggest that the minors are deprived of adequate assistance from their parents or relatives who are required to provide it.' Local media dubbed the pair the 'ghost children' due to how completely invisible they had been to the system. Their father, a 54-year-old Dutch sculptor, told Corriere Torino: 'I love my children, I just wanted to protect them.' He claimed they had laptops, musical instruments, ski gear and even rode horses and visited museums. But despite insisting he had homeschooled them, the children were unable to read or write. He reportedly said the decision to raise them in isolation was driven by fears of infection, including Covid-19. Their 38-year-old Dutch mother, believed to be homeless, is said to have shown little interest in the children during the removal process, reports the Mirror.
