Mysuru: Special and visually impaired children performed at the 11th International Yoga day event at Mysuru Palace premises on Saturday morning and inspired people. Visual impairment was no hurdle for 8-year-old Chetan of class 1 nor 10-year-old Shankar who performed yoga at the event. As many as 29 others like them from Government Blind School for Boys of Mysuru from class 1 to 10, joined them. They were accompanied and helped by members of an NGO - Payal Sharma, Anil Kumar led by their CEO Anantha Lakshmi. The NGO has been training them with yoga and other skills like swimming, spoken English, computer courses, various sports. Also, three teachers Shivakumar, Ravi and Uday accompanied the children. Down syndrome too didn't deter the spirit of 9-year-old Shaheeb from Pukkoottu, Mallapura district of Kerala. He was one among 15 other special children from four to 10 years of age from different parts of the country who are in Mysuru for a two year pre-school training at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing. .They were accompanied by AIISH Director M Puspavathi, yoga instructor, Hemali Rudrappa and special educator C C Leena. Wearing saree did not come in way for neither 55-year-old Rajamma nor her daughter Jaya Ravi Kumar and several women among the 70 people from Kempisiddanahundi of Mysuru who performed yoga by sporting a white t-shirt at the event. They are learning yoga at Ayush Arogya Mandira from Dr K Sujatha at the village. Rajamma shared, "I have been learning yoga for four years. I wake up at 5 pm and practice yoga with fellow villagers from 6 am to 7 am and later get along with routine chores and don't get tired till evening. Earlier I suffered from gastritis, asthma and knee joint pain, now I am not taking medicine for any of it and I am healthy due to yoga," she said.

The main state-level event took place at the sacred Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra, where over '1 lakh participants' performed yoga together, sending a message of holistic health and harmony to the world. Across all 22 districts and 121 blocks of the state, more than 20 lakh citizens participated in yoga events, transforming the day into a people's festival, said an official. International Meditation Centre: A large meditation hall will be built at Shri Krishna AYUSH University in Kurukshetra. Yoga Credit System in Schools: All government schools will adopt a credit-based evaluation system for students' yoga performance. Uniform Yoga Curriculum: To be introduced in all universities and colleges in Haryana. Recognition for Yoga and Naturopathy: These subjects will now be officially included under the AYUSH system, and practitioners will be granted government registration. Yoga as a Sport: The state will appoint experienced coaches to train athletes for national and international competitions. Recruitment of 40 yoga teachers in the sports department will begin soon. 5-Minute Yoga Breaks in Government Offices: To promote a stress-free work environment, daily yoga breaks will be implemented immediately in all state government offices. Institutions and organisations observed the 11th International Yoga Day (IYD) by conducting mass exercise sessions and awareness programmes on Saturday, centred on this year's theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. The Tiruchi Division of Southern Railway observed the day with mass yoga training sessions for officers and staff across various locations of the division. At Tiruchi, a yoga session was conducted at Rail Mahal under the leadership of M.S. Anbalagan, Divisional Railway Manager. The two-hour yoga training was conducted by experts from the Art of Living Foundation, Tiruchi. Participants were guided through a series of asanas and pranayama tailored to meet the physical and mental demands of railway staff. Yoga sessions were held for staff at multiple locations across the division, including Vriddhachalam, Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Thanjavur, and Mayiladuthurai. A separate yoga training session was organised for employees of the Diesel Shed at Ponmalai, according to a release from the Tiruchi Railway Division. Over 500 persons participated in the mass yoga event organised by the Archaeological Survey of India in association with the 34(TN) Independent Company NCC, Thanjavur, at Sri Brahadeeswarar temple, Thanjavur. The yoga session in the early morning hours attracting the participation of NCC cadets and elderly temple-goers underscored the relevance of yoga as a timeless practice for harmony of body, mind and spirit, according to an official release. At an event organised at the Indoor Auditorium of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Community Centre of Kailasapuram Township, general managers, senior officials, representatives of employees' unions and associations and township residents participated in an hour-long yoga practice session. Trainers from Isha Foundation conducted the sessions which comprised of yoga postures, exercises and breathing techniques. Programmes were conducted for students from various campus schools of BHEL Tiruchi, including RSK Higher Secondary School, BHEL Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School and Boiler Plant Boys Higher Secondary School. Educational institutions The National Service Scheme (NSS) cell of Bharathidasan University held a Yoga programme in association with the Centre for Spirituality and Yogic Sciences on Thursday. S. Jeyaprakash, managing trustee, Temple of Consciousness, Tiruchi, and his team demonstrated the yoga postures and trained volunteers. Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College's Centre for Ethics and Human Values and the Department of Physical Education, held a programme in hybrid mode in association with Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM), Chennai. In her online address, Shobana Srinivasan, director, Department of Healing Chants and senior yoga therapist, KYM, highlighted how yoga is a timeless tool for transformation. The NSS cell and 4 TN Girls BN NCC (Army Wing), of the college jointly celebrated International Yoga Day with an exercise session. S. Sutharneswaran, founder, Svadhyaya Yoga Academy, Tiruchi, spoke on the importance of yoga in daily life.

He declared, 'Uttarakhand will be developed as the global capital of yoga and wellness.' While delivering the message 'Yoga in Every Home, Health for Every Person,' the Chief Minister announced that with the support of the Central Government, one Spiritual Economic Zone will be established in each of the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. These zones will be developed as international hubs of Ayurveda, Yoga, and spiritual tourism. Linking Yoga with the Economy to Curb Migration The Chief Minister stated that these zones will also accelerate employment generation in the state, helping to curb migration from the hill regions. He announced the development of two new modern towns that will become global hubs of wellness and the yoga industry. Yoga instructors, Ayurvedic institutes, and spiritual leaders from across the world will be invited to participate. Subsidies up to ₹20 Lakhs and Research Grants up to ₹10 Lakhs Under the new Yoga Policy, the establishment of yoga and meditation centers will be eligible for subsidies of up to ₹20 lakhs. Research related to yoga and naturopathy will be granted up to ₹10 lakhs. By March 2026, yoga services will be ensured at all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers, and by 2030, five new yoga hubs will be developed across the state. Participation from Global Representatives On this special occasion, diplomats and representatives from eight countries – Mexico, Nepal, Fiji, Mongolia, Suriname, Latvia, Sri Lanka, and Russia – participated in the celebrations and performed yoga alongside the Chief Minister. The presence of yoga guru Padma Shri Swami Bharat Bhushan added great dignity to the event. Chief Minister Interacted with Students Before the event, the Chief Minister also met with local students and citizens. His conversation with the students was marked by high energy and enthusiasm. He urged the youth to make yoga a part of their daily routine and move toward a healthier life. 'Yoga Has United the World' – CM Dhami In his address, the Chief Minister said, 'Yoga is not just exercise; it is a philosophy of life that has united the world beyond caste, religion, and borders. It has become the most powerful bridge of global unity and humanity.' He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that due to his efforts, yoga has now become a global symbol of health and connectivity. Bhararisain – A Confluence of Culture and Nature The Chief Minister described Bhararisain as a center of Uttarakhand's cultural heritage and natural beauty.
