Owner of the San Jose Earthquakes puts team on the market
John Fisher, who also owns baseball's Athletics, acquired the Earthquakes with Lew Wolff in 2007 for a $20 million expansion fee, bringing the team back in 2008 after a two-year hiatus.

'The San Jose Earthquakes and PayPal Park have been an important part of our lives for nearly two decades,' Fisher said in a statement released by the team. 'We are proud of the role the Quakes have played in the growth of soccer throughout Silicon Valley. The Bay Area is a special place, and we're deeply grateful to the fans, players and staff who've been with us on this journey.'
The Earthquakes have hired the New York-based investment firm Moelis & Co. to lead the sale.
The Earthquakes, then known as the San Jose Clash, were a founding member of MLS in 1996. The team won MLS Cup titles in 2001 and 2003.
The Quakes also own and operate PayPal Park, an 18,000-seat stadium which is also the home of the National Women's Soccer League team Bay FC.

'On behalf of Major League Soccer, I want to thank the Fisher family for their longstanding commitment to the Earthquakes and the San Jose community,' MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement. 'Under their leadership, the club invested in world-class facilities like PayPal Park, built a highly respected youth academy and helped grow the game in one of the nation's most dynamic markets.'
The Quakes are the second MLS franchise currently up for sale. The Vancouver Whitecaps are the other.

Rumor: Knicks likely to sign 51st pick Mohamed Diawara to two-way contract
Forward Mohamed Diawara, the 51st overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, appears to be in the mix to sign a two-way contract with the New York Knicks. Diawara averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 43.9% shooting from the field in 49 games last season with Cholet Basket of the LNB Pro A. He scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-high 14 points and seven rebounds on May 28. The 6-foot-8 Frenchman announced last month that he planned to join the Knicks, rather than spend the 2025-26 season as a draft-and-stash prospect. He will likely do so on a two-way contract, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic. I wouldn't be surprised if New York ended up signing second-round pick Mohamed Diawara to one of its three two-way spots. I've heard rumblings of that potentially happening since summer league. After that, Kevin McCullar could return in one of the other two-way spots. ... For the third spot, someone like Dink Pate could make sense for New York. Diawara debuted with the Knicks in the NBA Summer League, averaging seven points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals on 40% shooting from the field in four appearances. He finished with nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals on July 19. The 20-year-old impressed in the annual summer showcase as a player who can handle the ball, finish in transition and space the floor a bit. He also projects to be a versatile defender on the other end of the court, boasting a reported 7-foot, 4-inch wingspan. Diawara will likely spend time in the G League next season to develop within the Knicks' system. He boasts plenty of high-level experience and projects to have a chance to eventually compete for rotation minutes.

Alterra IOS Acquires Multi-Acre Industrial Outdoor Storage Site in San Diego
Alterra IOS acquired a 5.1-acre site with 30,000 square feet of warehouse space located at 2660 Cactus Road in Otay Mesa. The property is fully leased to a company in the building materials sector and includes designated office space, open canopies and industrial outdoor storage space. With this acquisition, Alterra's Southern California portfolio increased to 23 properties, including five in the San Diego area. The Otay Mesa site is adjacent to the U.S.-Mexico border and has access to the region's key domestic and international ports, highways and airports. The Philadelphia-based company has acquired more than 390 sites since its founding six years ago across the county, and it owns property in 37 states. 'Opportunities to acquire critical IOS locations are increasingly scarce in the high-demand region, and this fully improved site provides proximity to key transportation networks across the U.S. and Mexico, supporting the tenant's ability to grow in one of the West Coast's most flexible industrial hubs,' said Matt McNutt, vice president of acquisitions at Alterra, in a statement. Mickey Morera of Kidder Mathews facilitated the acquisition for Alterra. Information for this article was sourced from Alterra IOS.
