Burlington recognizes small businesses

The Greater Burlington Partnership recognized two standout businesses at its annual Small Business Breakfast on Tuesday, May 13, at an event that celebrated the vital role small businesses play in strengthening the region's economy and community, a news release says. Taste & Seek was named the Micro Business of the Year, and Fork Catering Company was honored as the Small Business of the Year. Taste & Seek, in downtown Burlington, is a gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free bakery that also serves as a Christian boutique. The business was founded by twin sisters whose personal journey with autoimmune disease inspired them to create a welcoming space for all. In addition to offering allergy-friendly baked goods and faith-based gifts, Taste & Seek gives back regularly to local schools, shelters, and churches, embodying a mission of care and connection. Fork Catering Company was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since grown into a successful regional business serving Southeast Iowa and West Central Illinois. Known for its dependable service and community spirit, Fork has catered everything from small lunches to large events with hundreds of guests. The company supports local causes through discounted services, donations, and mentorship of its employees, many of whom grow into leadership roles.
