'Unable to run': Retired bank employee from Visakhapatnam falls to bullets in Pahalgam terror attack
VISAKHAPATNAM/NELLORE: Two residents of Andhra Pradesh were among the 26 civilians killed in the
Chandramouli had travelled to Kashmir on April 18 with his wife, J Naga Mani, and two other family members. The group was staying in Srinagar and visiting tourist locations across the region. On April 22, they went to Pahalgam as part of their itinerary.
According to Mouli's brother-in-law, Kumar Raja, the group reached Pahalgam around 1:30 pm.
'While the others managed to flee, Mouli, who had a heart problem, could not run fast. He was chased and shot dead by the attackers,' Kumar Raja said. He added that the family initially presumed him missing but later found his body at the site.
Mouli is survived by his wife and two daughters, both of whom are settled in the United States.
The family plans to shift the body to Kanaka Durga Hospital, near the Zilla Parishad office in Visakhapatnam.
His daughters are expected to arrive by Thursday evening, and the funeral is likely to be held on Friday.
Naidu announces Rs 10 lakh ex gratia to two victims of Pahalgam terror attack
On Wednesday night, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Visakhapatnam Airport to receive Mouli's mortal remains and paid his respects. He also interacted with the bereaved family and others who were part of the tour.
'Mouli's friend Seshidhar described the sequence of events. It was deeply disturbing to hear how helpless they felt,' the Chief Minister said. He added, 'In such moments, we must stand united as a nation. We must support each other and respond to the call for national unity.' Naidu announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of both victims.
Union Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat, MLAs, and others were present. S Madhusudan, the other victim, was a senior architect with IBM and a native of Kavali. He had been on vacation with his family, who are based in Bengaluru. Madhusudan was the son of S Tirupalu and Padma, residents of Kavali in Nellore district. His mortal remains were flown to Chennai and are expected to reach Kavali by Wednesday evening. Given the health condition of his elderly parents, the family initially chose to withhold the news from them.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed condolences and said he had coordinated with the Visakhapatnam District Collector to ensure proper transportation arrangements for the deceased. He directed all airlines to extend full cooperation in coordination with state governments and local authorities.

'The state had once led the nation in sports, enterprise and courage, but decades of political mismanagement had allowed drugs to invade every family and village.' Kejriwal spoke about the establishment of new focal points across Punjab and the launch of the 'FastTrack Punjab Portal' to ensure investors receive all necessary approvals within 45 days of the application. Echoing this commitment, Mann noted, 'Jalandhar has produced generations of national athletes, especially in hockey. But that legacy had been tarnished as political apathy and poor governance allowed the drug menace to flourish. We promised a sports hub in 2022, and we are delivering it today.' ED arrests ex-Haryana MLA,aide in money laundering case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) said it has arrested a former MLA and a former Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) officer in an alleged money laundering case here. Ram Niwas and Sunil Kumar Bansal were arrested on June 9, under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in the case of misappropriation of public funds in HSVP (formerly known as the Haryana Urban Development Authority) bank accounts, a statement from the agency said. Ram Niwas was a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2024. He represented the Narwana constituency after he won elections on a Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) ticket. He was also a former official of the HSVP. The ED initiated the investigation on the basis of FIR registered at Panchkula by Haryana Police against unknown persons, said the statement. This case was registered on a complaint by the Drawing and Disbursing Officer of HSVP, in which it was alleged that a 'fraud and financial loss' was committed through a bank account of HSVP, it added. As per the FIR, between 2015-2019, debit transactions amounting approximately Rs. 70 crore were repeatedly released in favour of some particular parties for no apparent reason from the said bank account of HSVP, causing a loss of Rs 70 Crore to HSVP. An internal enquiry by the HSVP revealed that no such bank account was reflected in the cash branch or IT wing of HSVP, meaning that HSVP was 'defrauded' by Sunil Kumar Bansal and Ram Niwas in a clandestine manner,' the ED statement said. Following their arrest, both the accused were presented before the Additional District and Sessions Court at Panchkula. They were remanded to five days' Enforcement Directorate custody..

Minister Nimmala inaugurates key infrastructure projects in Kurnool dist
Kurnool: District in-charge Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu inaugurated several major development works in Kurnool district on Wednesday, reiterating the government's commitment to regional progress and welfare. During his visit to Tadakanapalle village in Kallur mandal on Wednesday, the Minister unveiled internal CC roads constructed at a cost of Rs 678.5 lakh. He also inaugurated a newly laid BT road connecting Kurnool-Anugonda road to Doddipadu, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 141 lakh. MP Bastupati Nagaraju, Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy, district Collector P Ranjith Basha and others were present. Minister Ramanaidu lauded the women of Tadakanapalle, calling them a source of national pride. He highlighted the scale of ongoing development in the region, noting that Rs 2,014 crore have been spent on 2,294 works across the district. Emphasising industrial growth, he stated that key industries are being brought into Kurnool to enhance its industrial landscape. 'We increased pensions in the very first month of our tenure,' he noted, while pointing out that it took former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy five years to implement a Rs 1,000 pension hike. Touching on employment, Ramanaidu stated that 16,000 teaching posts are being filled, with 30% of them allocated to Kurnool district alone. Looking ahead, he announced plans for the Polavaram-Banakacharla project, envisioned at a massive Rs 80,000 crore, which is expected to transform Rayalaseema into a lush green belt. He took a swipe at the opposition, remarking that YSRCP is shedding crocodile tears over the region's development, while Chandrababu Naidu is working tirelessly to fill the gaps they left behind.
