Boca Juniors signs Leandro Paredes from Italy's Roma

Buenos Aires – Saba: Argentina's Boca Juniors announced on Friday the return of international midfielder Leandro Paredes from Italy's AS Roma. The 31-year-old player signed a new three-season contract with Boca Juniors and was officially presented to fans, who celebrated his return to the club where he began his career. Paredes started his professional journey with Boca Juniors, playing for the club between 2010 and 2014 before moving to Europe, joining Italy's Serie A. There, he played for Chievo, Roma, and Empoli (on loan). In 2017, he transferred to the Russian league via Zenit Saint Petersburg, then joined France's Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. He later returned to Italy on loan to Juventus in the 2022-2023 season before moving back to Roma for a second stint with the Italian capital club. Throughout his career, Paredes has won several titles at both club and international levels, with his most notable achievement being the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 victory with the Argentine national team. Paredes expressed his immense joy at returning to his boyhood club, stating in a press conference: "It's incredible to be back at Boca Juniors. In an official statement, Roma wished Paredes success in his new journey, noting that the midfielder played 135 matches and scored 13 goals for the club over four seasons. Real Madrid's Flight Delayed in Florida Ahead of PSG Clash Due to Storms

Florida - Saba: Severe storms sweeping through the U.S. state of Florida this week have caused a delay in Real Madrid's flight from Palm Beach Airport to New York, where they are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinal at MetLife Stadium. The Spanish club's plane was originally scheduled to depart at 4:00 PM local time yesterday, but adverse weather conditions delayed the flight by a full hour. The U.S. National Hurricane Center had previously warned of the possibility of the weather developing into a tropical storm, placing the entire state of Florida on alert. Despite being aware of the forecasts, the club opted to return to Miami after their quarterfinal win over Juventus, choosing to remain at a hotel near their training base to ensure player comfort and safety. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the unexpected delay disrupted FIFA's official media preparation schedule for the match, potentially forcing last-minute changes to Real Madrid's planned media appearances. Chelsea to Face Brazil's Fluminense Tomorrow in FIFA Club World Cup Semifinal

New York – Saba: Chelsea FC will face Brazilian side Fluminense on Tuesday evening at MetLife Stadium in New York, in the semifinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, currently underway in the United States. Both teams are vying for a spot in the final of a tournament that has already delivered several thrilling and hard-fought matches. Chelsea enters the clash in strong form, having won eight of their last ten matches, clinched the UEFA Europa Conference League title, and secured fourth place in the English Premier League, earning a spot in next season's Champions League. So far in the tournament, Chelsea defeated LA FC and Espérance de Tunis, but suffered a surprising group stage loss to Flamengo. They bounced back with hard-earned wins over Benfica and Palmeiras. Fluminense, who qualified for the Club World Cup as 2023 Copa Libertadores champions, enter the match with several injuries, but boast solid defensive organization under the leadership of veteran Thiago Silva. Despite battling relegation last season, the team currently sits in sixth place in the Brazilian league standings. In the Round of 16, Fluminense caused an upset by defeating Champions League runners-up Inter Milan 2–0, proving they are a serious contender. The winner of Tuesday's match will face the victor of the Real Madrid vs. Paris Saint-Germain semifinal, scheduled for Wednesday at the same venue. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
