'I brought my husband on First Dates with another woman and this is how it went'
First Dates fans will be in for a treat tonight as the hit Channel 4 dating show returns for a brand new series, and sees a couple on a with a third person
First Dates reveals first throuple date in preview clip
A throuple appearing on First Dates has shared their experience of making history on the Channel 4 show.
The reality programme has welcomed a multitude of hopeful romantics through the doors of the First Dates restaurant, where they are greeted by I'm A Celebrity star and maître d', Fred Sirieix, and barman Merlin Griffiths.

However, in tonight's episode, which marks the start of the new series, one woman was surprised to discover that she was being paired with not just one, but two individuals.

Sophie, a mother of three, had never been on a date with a woman before and was seeking someone alternative, authentic, and open-minded. Her date with Emily certainly fit the bill.
The duo quickly hit it off, with Sophie managing to overcome her initial nerves to reveal to Emily that she was married and that her husband Ricki was waiting at the bar to join them, reports the Mirror.
The couple, who have been together for a decade and tied the knot in 2018, were hoping to expand their marriage by inviting someone else into their relationship.

"We were curious to explore new connections together, and thought, why not? It felt like the right time to do something bold and go for it," Sophie later revealed in an exclusive interview with The Mirror.
"It was exciting but nerve-wracking at the same time."

Sophie and Ricki had contemplated opening up their relationship two years after they first met and had once tried out a "lifestyle club" where they were welcomed with "open arms", but now they were ready to take things to the next level.
"We've always been very private, and never really spoken to other people about our relationship and never had the chance to open it up. We've had a couple of experiences with friends but nothing has ever developed from that," she revealed.
Sophie disclosed to Ricki two years prior that she identified as bisexual and was curious about exploring this part of her identity, to which he was receptive. Since they hadn't come across the right individual for such exploration, their participation in First Dates marked their inaugural introduction to another person.

Describing her initial apprehension, Sophie shared: "I was quite nervous walking in, I feel like the idea of having a blind date - especially when you haven't dated for a long time - was very nerve-wracking to me. But as soon as I walked in, I felt really welcomed and those nerves went away fairly quickly."
On the other hand, Ricki confessed that whilst he was filled more with excitement than nerves, the apps had failed to yield the connection they sought.

"There aren't many dating apps for couples looking for singles," he lamented. "And if there are, it's purely (within our experiences) just for sexual encounters, and that's not what we were looking for."
Their encounter with Emily on First Dates seemed positive, with both Sophie and Ricki feeling an immediate sense of connection, while Emily too expressed that she had an "amazing" experience from her perspective in the interview.
She expressed her excitement about the unique dating experience, saying: "It was an exciting opportunity, and obviously, for me, I didn't know what I was going into in terms of who the date was going to be. I'm very pansexual, I've dated all the genders, all the colours of the rainbow, and I didn't know if it was going to be a guy or a girl, someone in between, or a couple because I definitely expressed that was an interest of mine as well. The way the date played out was amazing."

Like Ricki, Emily had not found success with dating apps and saw First Dates as an opportunity to meet new people.
Sophie admitted she was excited but nervous beforehand

She shared her enthusiasm for dating and meeting new individuals: "I love dating and I love meeting new people, I think meeting new people is the meaning of life to be honest, making new connections, and so I thought what a fun and interesting way to meet some cool people," she said.

The massage therapist elaborated on her past experiences: "I've dated couples before and really enjoyed it in the past, [but] it's quite hard to find the right dynamic. Obviously dating is hard enough just trying to find two people that match, so to find a dynamic where all three people are all compatible is harder sometimes."
Upon seeing Sophie, Emily immediately felt "really happy" and experienced a "wave of relief," admitting, "I had a huge crush on Sophie."
Despite Ricki not being her typical choice, Emily confessed that his "warmth and humour" became apparent within minutes of their encounter.

Emily called the date a 'nice surprise'

She concluded by emphasising the importance of connection: "We all got on really well, and to be honest, energy and personality tend to be the driver of who I end up with."
Emily, who initially was unaware that she had been set up with both Sophie and Ricki on her date, later revealed she wasn't "shocked" but pleasantly "nicely surprised."

"I would have been very happy with just dating Sophie alone, but it was a nice little surprise for me; I wasn't worried at all," she said.
Emily, Sophie, and Ricki, not only experienced success on their date but also expressed pride in contributing to an empowering narrative through First Dates.
Things seemed to go well for the trio

"I feel really honoured that I was part of First Dates' first three-way date because it hasn't been done before and I think it does break down a lot of stigma," shared Emily, who has been featured previously on Channel 4's Open House: The Great Sex Experiment.
She differentiated her experiences on the two shows, saying, "With Open House, it's all very raunchy and risky and a lot of things go wrong but with First Dates, I hope it comes across that for me, it was really amazing, we had a great connection, and actually these things aren't really taboo at all."
"It's just three people who really get along, having a nice time. And I think that people make it a lot deeper than it needs to be, it's really just not that deep."

Sophie echoed this sentiment and acknowledged the unique opportunity they had: "I really like the fact that we've had this opportunity to be able to be the first people to do it, it's exciting for us, we love that. Hopefully it does provide an empowering message to other couples that may be wanting to explore those sorts of connections too."
First Dates airs Fridays at 10pm on Channel 4.

Inside Mel B's magical St Paul's wedding as intimate details uncovered

EXCLUSIVE: Spice Girls star Melanie Brown has married her long-term fiancé, Rory McPhee, at St. Paul's Cathedral and the Mirror can reveal intimate details Melanie Brown has finally tied the knot with Rory McPhee in a stunning ceremony. The Spice Girls megastar walked down the aisle at the iconic St Paul's Cathedral in London and looked every inch the stunning bride. Rory, a hair stylist, got down on one knee and proposed to the Leeds-born icon in October 2022, four years after the pair started dating one another. The 50-year-old, known for her love of leopard print and bold personality, looked sensational as she wore a figure-hugging classic white gown after arriving in a white Rolls Royce car. Her dress embodied everything Melanie stands for: strength, sensuality and timeless glamour. ‌ The Leeds-native worked very closely with London-based Evelie Bridal and Josephine Scott to design the georgette crepe gown, which showcased her gym-honed physique in a corset bodice. Her beautiful gown featured draping, which hugged her silhouette and flowed freely into a dramatic train. ‌ Meanwhile, a detachable jacket was decorated with hand-embellished pearl constellations across the high neckline, with the long-sleeved jacket framing her shoulders and adding a regal touch to her gown, in true St Paul's etiquette. Mum-of-three Melanie, opted for a white with a cathedral-length veil which trailed down the 158-meter-long aisle, scattered with pearls and, in true Mel B style, a touch of drama. Speaking to the Mirror, owner of Evelie Bridal, Caroline Black, who styled Melanie said: "From the moment Mel walked through the doors at Evelie, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. "Helping a real Spice Girl choose her wedding dress—what could possibly top that? But what's truly made this experience so meaningful is getting to know Mel as just Mel — not the icon, but the woman. It's been such an honour." Meanwhile, the designer, Josephine Scott said: "Designing this gown for Mel was about capturing her fearless spirit and softness all in one look. She's iconic, powerful, and radiant — and this dress had to be worthy of that. ‌ "Every detail was chosen to honour her strength and sensuality while celebrating the woman and the love story beneath the girl power." Her daughter Phoenix, who arrived with her partner, AJ Anderson, dazzled onlookers in a striking blue gown and white fascinator. Angel, whom Melanie shares with Eddie Murphy, rocked a suave black suit as the pair were accompanied by another guest. Her youngest, Madison, chose a bright pink dress which was decorated by eye-catching red flowers. Melanie was walked down the aisle by James Steen, the husband of Louise Grannon, Melanie's biographer. While her now husband, Rory, was supported at the alter by his best man, Jordan McPhee. ‌ Melanie was supported by her bandmate, Emma Bunton, just days after the Mirror revealed why she was the only Spice Girl attending the ceremony. There had been reports that both Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham had been snubbed but a source close to the band revealed to me that this wasn't the case. "There's no snub; the girls are all on friendly terms with one another, but it's no secret that Geri is busy with Christian at Formula One, and Victoria is extremely busy with her fashion brand," my mole said. Geri is at the British Grand Prix with her husband, while Melanie C, known as Sporty Spice, is performing in Rødovre, eastern Denmark, and Victoria has commitments with her fashion business. Emma, known as Baby Spice, delighted those in attendance by singing at the ceremony. She told the Mirror: "I am so excited to be here, I can't wait for the wedding." In true Baby form, the blonde legend rocked a chic pink dress as she was accompanied by her husband, Jade Jones, and their son Beau. ‌ Melanie's sister, actress Danielle, looked sensational as she arrived at the cathedral with her three children, wearing a stunning knee-length baby blue dress. "I am so nervous. It's exciting, though, and I am doing the first reading," she said. Other famous faces in attendance included comic Alan Carr, Daisy Lowe, Cara Delevingne, Katherine Ryan, Angellica Bell and BBC legend Gaby Roslin. For Once In My Life singer Melanie had made it no secret she was excited to say "I do" at the same venue where the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and now King Charles exchanged their vows in 1981. Each year, only a select number of people are allowed to marry at the venue, and thanks to Melanie being awarded an MBE for her services to charity work supporting Women's Aid, she was one of them. Although Melanie and Rory will be celebrating their nuptials at The Shard, they have more extravagant plans for their wedding. The couple will be jetting out to Morocco later this month, with American designer Justin Alexander being commissioned for that dress. "I'm having a second ceremony abroad, which will be more informal, sexy and beautiful," the singer said.

Simone Ashley confirms Bridgerton return after being cut out of F1 movie

Sex Education star Simone Ashley will return to screens in the fourth season of Bridgerton, and the actress has opened up about filming intimate scenes for the hit Netflix show Bridgerton sensation Simone Ashley has opened up about feeling "very safe and comfortable" while shooting steamy scenes for the smash-hit series, Bridgerton. The star of Sex Education, who is also on the cusp of dropping her first album, labelled the Netflix sensation Bridgerton as pure "fantasy". Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, she said: "It's about, 'What if?' and how love conquers all. Bridgerton represents nudity with a sense of romance, and I felt very safe and comfortable in what I was choosing to show to the world." ‌ With the fourth instalment of the period drama set to hit screens next year, Ashley shared with the publication: "'That show just gets bigger and bigger. Everyone has gone off to do incredible things, but we come back and it's like time hasn't moved." ‌ Recounting her bold move to Los Angeles at the tender age of 18, she revealed: "I was really scrappy. Since I was little, if I wanted something, I would do anything I could to get it. So, I took some modelling jobs to pay the bills and got into acting through that." Gracing the digital cover of Harper's Bazaar, Ashley divulged that her upcoming album was born out of a recent split. She explained: "It's going to be somewhat confessional... and beautiful and messy. "Good songs don't come from times when my life is regimented and predictable. They come when I am feeling vitality, and usually you either feel that way when your heart's broken, or you're euphoric. This work has been an amazing channel to put all those feelings into." Following the release of that movie, the Bridgerton star opened up about the importance of diversity in romantic-comedies. The Sex Education icon, who was born to Tamil parents, stars as photographer Pia - who is juggling a failing business while dealing with the arrival of her ex and her parents' concern for her love life. The feel-good movie was released on Amazon Prime Video on 6 March and also stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin. She added: "I would say the younger me is kind of like, 'Oh my gosh, we did a rom com and it's an Indian girl leading it!'" Although she wishes she could have seen diverse characters when she was younger, she hopes Picture This helps with it. She said: "To put it simply... When it comes to this movie, I just want brown women to have it and to just win!" Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. We'd love to hear from you!
