Recalling that he loved how his body looked, Cumberbatch said his diet included five meals a day to meet the calorie intake, along with snacks like boiled eggs, crackers, almonds and cheese – which were 'horrific.'
'The exercise is great, and the end result is that you feel strong and you feel confident.
You hold yourself better. You have a stamina through the exercise and the food that makes you last through the gig. But it is horrific,' he said, before adding, 'I don't like it personally. I think it's horrific, eating beyond your appetite.'

He further continued, 'Going back to responsibility and resourcefulness and sustainability, it's just like, what am I doing? I could feed a family with the amount I'm eating.' Moreover, the 'Sherlock' actor pointed out that it's not just food that is wasted; the industry wastes much more than that.
Listing out the resources, Cumberbatch asked to think about the humongous sets which are not recycled, in addition to transport, housing, light, and energy. 'The amount of wattage you need to create daylight and consistent light in a studio environment. It's a lot of energy,' he said.
While Benedict acknowledged that when any actor talks about climate and environment, they get highly criticised; however, he feels that criticism hasn't stopped him from pushing green initiatives and sustainability on his sets.
