Abhishek Malik on his tapri moment for Jamai No. 1: If I'm going to be a chaiwala on screen, I might as well be one off-screen too

In a heartwarming twist on Jamai No. 1, viewers recently saw Neel, played by Abhishek Malik, don the avatar of a chaiwala to woo his on-screen wife Riddhi (
Simaran Kaur
). As part of a unique romantic gesture, Neel takes Riddhi on an old-school 'tapri date,' where he dresses up as a teaseller and serves her a hot cup of chai, turning a simple beverage into a symbol of love and nostalgia.
But what truly made the day special was what brewed behind the scenes!
Abhishek Malik, who completely immersed himself in the role, decided to take things a notch higher, not just acting like a chaiwala for the camera, but becoming one for the cast and crew off-camera as well. Despite having never made tea before in his life, the actor surprised everyone on set by taking over the tea duty. With some help from the spot boys and kitchen team, he learned the art of brewing the perfect cup and went on a chai-serving spree during breaks between shots.
Abhishek said, 'This track was honestly one of the most fun sequences I've shot in a while. When I heard the concept, I was instantly excited — it was such a sweet and goofy way for my character to express love. I thought, if I'm going to be a chaiwala on screen, I might as well be one off-screen too! I had no clue how to make tea, but the crew was super helpful. I learned quickly and decided to treat my on-screen family and the crew members on the set with a hot cup of chai — proper adrak, elaichi aur laung wali chai! I really wanted to give it that classic, cutting-chai tapri vibe.
Though I still don't know if I got it right, everyone was super encouraging. It turned into this whole thing where we had a mini chai session between takes. Everyone was so sporting about it, even those who don't usually drink tea gave it a try. It just created such a warm, happy vibe on set. Moments like these remind me how much fun this job can be.'
While Abhishek Malik's impromptu chai-serving spree and infectious energy left everyone on set with a smile and a sip of something special, the upcoming track will take a dramatic turn as Sayli (played by Sonal Vengurlekar) attempts to drive a wedge between Riddhi and Neel by manipulating situations and creating misunderstandings. Will her tactics succeed, or will love triumph in the end?

Nana Patekar was supposed to play Billu in 'Khalnayak,' not Sanjay Dutt Subhash Ghai discussed 'Khalnayak,' how he came up with the concept for the movie, and the actor he originally had in mind for the title role in an earlier interview with ETimes. The director disclosed that Raavan gave him the idea to make the Sanjay Dutt-starring movie because, at the time, no character-based movie had been made. Initially, director Subhash Ghai envisioned 'Khalnayak' as an art film and had Nana Patekar in mind for the lead role. Ghai's original intention was to write a more subdued story. However, his writer convinced him to change course, suggesting they create a more commercial and grand-scale movie instead of one that would appeal to only a niche audience. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo The director claimed that he had originally signed Nana Patekar to play the lead role because he wanted a middle-aged actor to play the part. But he also mentioned that Anil Kapoor was eager to play the antagonist in 'Khalnayak.' 'He came to my house two or three times and said, Subhash ji, I want to do this role," the filmmaker said. "I said that the scenario will not suit you. You will go, I will go, and the film will also go.' According to reports at the time of production, Aamir Khan was also considered for the villain role. But Aamir wanted to do Saudagar, not Khal Nayak, Ghai explained. In vast landscape of Indian cinema, where directors often experience a mix of successes and setbacks, one filmmaker stands out for his unparalleled consistency. His unique storytelling, combined with grand visuals and compelling narratives, has captivated audiences across the nation. Who is this director? This exceptional director is none other than S.S. Rajamouli. He began his journey in 2001 with Student No.1, starring Jr. NTR, and quickly gained recognition for his visionary storytelling. He continued his success streak with films like Simhadri (Jr. NTR), Sye (Nithiin), and Chatrapathi (Prabhas), each showcasing his flair for action and drama. Vikramarkudu featured Ravi Teja, while Yamadonga brought back Jr. NTR in a mythological fantasy. How SS Rajamouli redefined Indian Cinema? His magnum opus Magadheera, starring Ram Charan, raised the bar for visual storytelling in Telugu cinema. Maryada Ramanna (Sunil) offered a refreshing take on humor and tradition, while Eega, with Nani and Sudeep, stunned audiences with its unique concept. Then came the record-breaking Baahubali franchise, The Beginning and The Conclusion, with Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah in lead roles. These films became global phenomena. His latest blockbuster RRR, featuring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, not only achieved massive commercial success but also won international accolades, including an Oscar for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. The film also starred Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran in crucial roles. SS Rajamouli's unbreakable record Over 24 years, this iconic Indian filmmaker has achieved what very few in the industry can claim, 12 films, zero flops. From his debut to his latest blockbuster, every project has not only turned a profit but also raised the bar for storytelling, scale, and cinematic innovation. His total box office collection across all films has crossed Rs 4,200 crore globally, proving both his creative brilliance and mass appeal. How much SS Rajamouli charges per movie? His films are known for blending mythology, emotion, action, and visual grandeur, often turning into cultural moments rather than just releases. It's no surprise that producers are willing to invest heavily in his vision, so much so that he now commands a reported fee of Rs 200 crore per film, placing him among the highest-paid directors not just in India but globally. Rajamouli's next big project, SSMB29, stars Mahesh Babu as a globe-trotting adventurer in a film inspired by Indiana Jones. With a massive Rs 1,000 crore budget, the film also features Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and R. Madhavan. Scheduled for 2027 release, it's set to be another landmark in Rajamouli's legendary career.
