Seattle Storm acquire All-Star guard Brittney Sykes in trade with Washington Mystics
Sykes averaged 15.4 points, 4.3 assists and 1.2 steals for the Mystics this season to earn her first All-Star selection. She'll join a strong lineup that features Skylar Diggins, Nneka Ogwumike, Gabby Williams and Ezi Magbegor. Seattle (16-13) is currently in sixth place in the standings.
Clark has played more than 300 games for the Storm in two stints with the team and helped the franchise win two WNBA championships in 2018 and 2020.
This season she's averaging just 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds. Clark has been impactful off the court over the years in the city starting the organization's annual toy drive benefiting Seattle Children's Hospital.
Cooke averaged just over 10 minutes a game this season and has shot a career-best 38.2% from behind the 3-point arc. She was the No. 10 pick in the 2023 draft by Los Angeles. She spent two seasons there before coming to Seattle.
Washington (13-15) is a game out of the playoffs at the moment.
The league's trade deadline is Thursday.

Pete Carroll, Geno Smith return to Seattle with Raiders
SEATTLE (AP) — Pete Carroll played a new role in familiar territory Thursday night, with his first preseason game as coach of the Las Vegas Raiders coming against the Seattle Seahawks. The former Seattle coach clearly felt at home before the game, talking with many Seahawks players on the field during warmups and generally being his outgoing, energetic self. Carroll spent 14 seasons in Seattle, going 137-89-1 and putting together double-digit victories eight times over a nine-year stretch. He was at the helm for some of the most memorable moments in team history, including the 2013 Super Bowl championship with the dominant 'Legion of Boom' defense, before the Seahawks parted ways with him after the 2023 season. Las Vegas starting quarterback Geno Smith also made a return to Seattle. Smith revitalized his career with the Seahawks, signing in 2019 as the backup and then becoming the starter in 2022. He was selected AP Comeback Player of the Year when he led the league with a 69.8% completion percentage and threw for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns. Smith started, but only played one series. Josh Jobe and Nehemiah Pritchett both snag interceptions in first half
The Seattle Seahawks' defense was eager to show off for the 12th Man in their preseason debut at Lumen Field. Playing host to the visiting Las Vegas Raiders - led by former head coach Pete Carroll - the Seahawks were jumping at the bit for big plays... literally. On the Raiders' third possession of the game, quarterback Aiden O'Connell found out the hard way why cornerback Josh Jobe was the first player to intercept 2024 league MVP Josh Allen last season. Not to be outdone, second year cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett snagged one himself from O'Connell later in the second quarter. The Seahawks capitalized on Pritchett's interception and managed to turn it into three points from a successful Jason Myers field goal attempt. Seattle was able to build a 16-3 lead at halftime as a result. Many have written this offseason, including yours truly, that cornerback depth is an underrated issue for Seattle's defense. Well, with how these two are playing against the Raiders, they are doing their best to make the argument that the depth. Marshawn Lynch throws elbow to protect camera from Seahawks RB George Holani in debut as photographer
Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani nearly backed into a photographer during Thursday's preseason game. But not just any photographer. It was Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch manning the sideline with both camera and official NFL vest, and he did what he had to do to protect his camera. As Holani fell toward him, the 39-year-old stuck out his elbow and protected a piece of equipment likely to be quite expensive. It was a blank-and-miss it cameo, and one that both men came away from just fine. As for why Lynch was down there, your guess is as good as ours. It might be a tradition for Seattle sports legends to take up photography at this point, as both Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr. have caught the bug in retirement. Randy Johnson Photography, which features the best logo in the business, has taken the Hall of Fame pitcher to a wide array of locales with an emphasis on concerts and wildlife, while Griffey received praise recently for his work at the Masters tournament this year. It's also notable the Seahawks were playing the Las Vegas Raiders, one of Lynch's former teams, who are coaches by Pete Carroll, one of Lynch's former coaches. Lynch popped up at Carroll's introductory news conference to ask the coach a question, and this might just be an evolution of his media career. Whatever the reason, the 39-year-old Lynch seemed to be having fun out there. Lynch has been a busy man in retirement, as both a businessman and media personality. His investments include the NHL's Seattle Kraken, the USL's Oakland Roots, a marijuana brand and a hologram start-up, while his television appearances include a gig on Amazon's "Thursday Night Football," season 3 of Euphoria and a reality show where celebrities "colonized" Mars. He also hosted a podcast with Calif. governor Gavin Newsom.
