An $89 Kmart chair just changed millions of Aussie parents' lives
The budget retailer has recently released an item that's essentially a hybrid between a classic collapsible outdoor camping chair and an electric blanket.
The Kmart Heatpack Chair, $89, offers the comfort and convenience of a portable folding chair, but with the added warmth of in-built heating technology.
The popular buy sold out a few times and remains hard to find in-store. It is currently listed as 'out of stock' or 'low stock' at a number of Sydney Kmart stores.
Perth mum Marika Harvison is among the lucky ones who managed to get hold of the heated Kmart chair, praising it as a game-changer for parents of kids who play outdoor winter sports.
'All these mothers and fathers out there that watch their kids play sport... in the cold, Kmart have just released a Heatpack Chair,' Marika said in her TikTok video.
The WA mum posted a 58-second clip that showcased the chair set up and ready to use.
The only catch? As Marika noted, you need to supply your own power bank in order to use the chair's heating function. (Although she noted that a lot of people already 'have one laying around the house'.)
To heat the chair, the mum explained, you simply plug a charged portable power bank into the cord affixed to the chair. It can then be neatly stored in a pocket attached to the side of the chair.
'Press the button [on the side of the chair] for three seconds, and away she goes. Heats up,' Marika explained.
According to the online product description, the chair is 'heated with three-speed intelligent temperature control'.
Even without the heating functionality, the parent noted that the chair itself had a number of quality features.
'The chair is quite padded [and] it's got a cup holder,' Marika said.
The foldable chair weighs approximately 5kg and comes with a drawstring storage bag to carry it in.
This means it can be easily slung and carried hands-free over the shoulder - a necessity for parents who are likely to be juggling a ball, muddy boots and a sausage sizzle sandwich.
'[I]t's so easy to pop back in the bag,' Marika added.
The chair comes in a Charcoal colour, and its dimensions are 86.5cm height, 100cm width and 65.5cm diameter.
It has a maximum weight capacity of 130kg.
The outdoor item is made from a mix of oxford fabric with polyethylene (PE) coating, iron, polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and graphene heating cloth.
The video shared to the @marikaharvison8 account amassed over 384,000 views in just one day. It also attracted hundreds of excited replies from fellow sideline parents.
One asked Marika how long the chair stayed heated while using the power bank, to which she replied that it easily lasted for a 'full footy game'.
When another person asked 'how warm' it was to sit in, Marika confirmed it was 'so good'.
One commenter who had managed to get hold of the Kmart heated chair confirmed earlier in the sports season also said it had 'been amazing'.
'I use it at footy every Saturday,' they wrote.
Others lamented that they only wish they'd known about the heated outdoor chair earlier on for the winter 2025 sports season.
'I froze my butt off every Friday night for 11 weeks. Would have loved this,' read one reply.
The heated chair hasn't just caught the eye of parents, but also outdoorsy types who regularly go camping.
'I was looking for a new camp chair,' read one camper's excited reply.
Even without the heating function, another reply added that this was a great camping furniture find.
'Finding a comfy camp chair with a max weight rating over 100kg for under $100 is a win for me alone,' a woman replied.
However, a few commenters expressed concern over the safety of the portable chair's in-built heating feature.
'I love the idea but it does NOT sound safe at all,' read one response.
The Kmart website product listing for the chair contains a 'caution' message about using the chair.
'Do not use the heating function when the chair is wet or damaged,' the message reads. 'Follow usage instructions carefully.'

Sky News host Peta Credlin shows off her incredible gym transformation as she poses in skintight activewear
Peta Credlin has been working hard at the gym ahead of indulging on holiday. The Sky News host shared a selfie to Instagram recently that showed her progress in the gym. The fit 55-year-old posed in skintight activewear including a navy blue tank top and black leggings. She flexed her ample arm muscles as she snapped a mirror selfie to flaunt her slender, muscular physique, and explained she was working hard before heading off on holiday to Italy. 'Progress update before I go and ruin all the hard work with a daily holiday gelato,' she wrote in her caption. Peta explained that she has been working out at the Enterprise Fitness gym in Melbourne. The comments section was inundated with support, with TV host Rebecca Maddern writing, 'I wouldn't mess with you.' Peta replied: 'Trying to avoid the dreaded "tuck shop" arms of menopause.' One fan chimed in: 'Well done. Healthy body healthy mind. A force to be reckoned with.' 'I didn't think anyone was allowed guns that big,' joked another while someone else said, 'Great effort. Hope the training is going to help kick Albo around.' Earlier this year, Peta dressed down a male colleague live on air, accusing him of insulting the intelligence of women. Credlin grew increasingly exasperated with the network's political editor Andrew Clennell, after he said former Opposition Leader Peter Dutton had to bring in some 'women-friendly policies' in order to pave his way to The Lodge. 'What's a 'women's friendly policy' mate?' a visibly unimpressed Credlin said. 'Do you think we don't care about the economy? We don't care about defence?' Clennell replied: 'I'm not a woman. But I'm saying if (Dutton) went for that constituency, if he did a couple of things in that area, and I remember Gladys Berejiklian did that sort of thing.' That comment only made Credlin more incensed. 'You insult our intelligence to think we don't care about these things,' she said. 'Well of course they do, but people vote with the hip pocket - there is a sense amongst women,' Clennell continued before a finger-pointing Credlin interrupted that women 'do not vote with our vaginas'. 'Well, you're the one who's asking me about a gender difference, Peta, I mean, you raised it,' Clennell retorted. 'Well... I'm asking you about what can you read in it, and you're saying that he's got to have women's policies to win women,' Peta responded. 'I find that offensive.' Credlin was the former chief of staff to Tony Abbott when he was prime minister and minister for women.

Channel Seven star Erin Holland gives shattering update on her long battle to have a baby with Aussie cricketer
Channel Seven star Erin Holland has provided her social media followers with a heartbreaking update about her ongoing fertility battle. The presenter, 36, hoped to start a family with her Australian cricketer husband Ben Cutting following their 2021 wedding – only to discover IVF was their best option to have a baby. Taking to Instagram this week, the former Miss World Australia confirmed they are still at square one despite four years of trying. 'Here we go again,' she wrote with an accompanying photo from a hospital. 'I'm (now) breaking up the highlights reel with some real talk. 'Many losses, many failed transfers down, today was all about exploratory surgery, internal 'renovations' and starting testing from scratch again to try and find some answers to the soul-destroying unknown. Taking to Instagram this week, the former Miss World Australia confirmed nothing has changed after four years of trying 'What's the missing piece of the puzzle? Injections, steroids, so many drugs... it's far more emotionally and physically draining than we ever bargained for.' Holland's emotional post also included a picture of several vials in a bathroom. 'Infertility feels like your face is pressed up against the glass of a club you so badly want to be a part of, but no one is letting you in,' she added. Among those to support Holland publicly included Nadia Bartel, Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou and fellow cricket presenter Grace Hayden. Holland also previously stated she 'let Ben down' after failing to fall pregnant and her 'sense of failure is overwhelming'. In recent years, Holland has been a regular on Seven's cricket coverage, including the men's and women's Big Bash tournaments. After hanging up his cricket spikes, Cutting has turned his attention to the property market, securing a role as an agent with U Real Estate in Brisbane. 'It definitely has the highs and lows like cricket does,' he told 'I've been doing everything from cold calling, to door knocking to letter box drops.
