The Hindu31-07-2025
The government has accorded administrative sanction for the food processing park initiated by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) at Kunnukara.
The park will be set up under the mini food park project of the government. Minister for Industries P. Rajeeve said in a communication on Thursday (July 31, 2025) that around 37.8 acres would be acquired for the food processing park in Kunnukara village. The project would be implemented utilising the assistance under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board, he added.
He said that the park is being set up to extend the benefits of agricultural progress achieved in the Kalamassery Assembly constituency to more persons. The 'Krishikkoppam Kalamassery' project has been expanded to more areas. Five value-added products were launched in the market as part of the agriculture project. The third edition of the agri fest held as part of the initiative will begin in August, according to the communication.
'The food processing park will have units based on spices, coconut, fruits, cake and bakery and milk products. The land acquisition process will be speeded up in association with the district administration,' it said.

Awareness programme on IURWTS implementation in Greater Kochi area on August 11

An awareness programme-cum-workshop will be held at 4.30 p.m. on Monday (August 11) at Ernakulam Town Hall on the Integrated Urban Regeneration and Water Transport System (IURWTS) in the Greater Kochi area. Minister for Industries and Law P. Rajeeve will preside over the event, which will be attended by, among others, Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden. The State Cabinet, in May, had given its nod for implementing the IURWTS in Kochi, aimed at reviving six canals, at a revised estimate of ₹3,716.10 crore. The project is intended to make the canals navigable and provide a lasting solution to flooding in the city during the rainy season. Thus, Edappally, Perandoor, Chilavannur, Thevara, Konthuruthy and Market canals will be widened and dredged and walkways built on either side. Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will continue as the special purpose vehicle for the initiative, while the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) was appointed as the implementing agency for the sewerage components. Funding for the project will be ensured through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and the National River Conservation Directorate, according to the plan. Apart from the project to revive the six canals, Monday's sessions will cover plans to set up garbage treatment plants.
