Exclusive: Pankaj Vishnu on his brief role in Tenali Rama as Acharya Devomay — ‘Being part of the show was a dream come true experience'
Actor Pankaj Vishnu recently opened up about his special appearance as Acharya Devomay in the historical fiction series Tenali Rama. Though his role was brief, Pankaj shared with Times of India TV how meaningful and enriching the experience was for him as an actor. Talking about his fascination with historical and mythological tales, Pankaj said, 'I have always been fascinated by history and mythology and its characters. These beautiful stories are not only entertaining but have great teachings and learnings in them. So Tenali Rama, our own 'Birbal of South,' was always one of my favorite story characters since childhood. Being part of the show based on him was a dream come true experience. Though my part was limited to a story, it was a lovely experience and left me wanting for more.' Portraying Acharya Devomay, a brilliant scientist caught in a mysterious plot, came with its own set of challenges. Sharing his preparation process, Pankaj said, 'Acharya Devomay feels he has struck a bulls-eye with his invention and believes it to be the greatest of all time. As the genre of the show is light-hearted comedy, it was challenging to showcase his intelligence and wit through body language and dialogue delivery. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Gorgeous Women, Ranked BigGlobalTravel Undo Like many scientists, he is a bit whimsical and vulnerable when it comes to his discoveries. Since my story spanned just 3-4 episodes, making an impact in fewer scenes was also challenging as an actor.' The storyline, which revolves around his character collaborating with Acharya Bhaskar before getting entangled in the latter's mysterious disappearance, added a new twist to the narrative. 'The look given to Acharya Devomay also helped to build the character in a way that would appeal to both children and grown-up audiences,' Pankaj added. When asked if he drew inspiration from any real-life scholars or scientists of that era, Pankaj shared, 'He is excited to collaborate with Acharya Bhaskar on a new formula but becomes emotional and panicky when Bhaskar goes missing. What will happen to the collaboration? Will their inventions bring a positive change in villagers' lives with Rama and Laxman's help? These questions unfold in this hilarious story.' Expressing his gratitude, he concluded, 'The actors, director, and creatives all helped me get the character right. Acharya Devomay is hyper and brings lots of energy to the narrative, making it even more fun to portray.'
