Man City agree €14m fee for Rosenborg teenager Sverre Nypan
Manchester City have agreed a fee of €14 million (£12.5 million) with Rosenborg for teenager Sverre Nypan, the PA news agency understands.
The 18-year-old midfielder's arrival would follow those of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli in a busy summer at the Etihad Stadium.

Personal terms are still to be finalised and it is expected, if the deal is completed, that Nypan would be sent out on loan to gain experience.
Nypan made his first-team debut at Rosenborg at the age of 15 and is a Norway Under-21 international.

Grealish's status at City became clear towards the end of the season after he was left on the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, with Guardiola sending on 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri for his debut in the second half instead of the club's £100m signing. Grealish was also left out of City's squad entirely for their 2-0 win away to Fulham on the final day of the Premier League season. Ashley Cole tips Tino Livramento for ‘beautiful future' after Newcastle star shines for England U21s
TINO LIVRAMENTO will have a 'beautiful future' for club and country, says England's greatest left-back Ashley Cole. The Newcastle star is aiming to cap off a campaign that saw him lift the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League by becoming a European champion. 4 4 Versatile Livramento has excelled at both right and left-back for the Magpies and was man of the match at the latter in the U21s' 3-1 Euro opening victory over Czech Republic on Thursday. Left-back has proven to be a problem position for England's seniors of late with eight players used there over the past year. Arsenal and Chelsea legend Cole won 107 caps for his country and is now Lee Carsley's U21s assistant manager. And he thinks England, who face Slovenia on Sunday in their second Group B clash, have struck gold with Livramento. Cole, 44, said: 'I had the fortune to be around him when he was at Chelsea. He was in the 21s in the reserve group. You always see the passion and level he could get to. But of course, there's only a certain level of information we can give him. 'It's down to the players to take on that information, absorb it, and want to learn and listen and develop and get better. He's certainly one of them players. 'Him getting the opportunity at Newcastle and continuing to play first in football gave him the belief, the confidence in his own ability. And, of course, a manager that's trusted him to play at such a young age. He's developing into a top player.' Three-time Premier League and 2012 Champions League winner Cole continued: 'My job is to try and give all my experiences to every single player. 'You do favour certain players and certain attitudes. He's got a great attitude. He's a great person, always willing to listen. 'I try not to compare myself to these guys. The information and detail I give is, we're a different stature. We have a different style of play. And it's just trying to give him the basics of how to defend all areas of the pitch, and see how he develops.' I can't run anymore, so it's more of a gob – which I've calmed down a bit! – but it's still there. I try to give as much as I can. 'As coach, you stand on the sideline and see how much information he takes on and takes on board. And I keep saying it, but the willingness to want to learn and be the best, is always a great trait to have. I try not to compare myself to these guys. We have a different style of play. Eyebrows were raised when Thomas Tuchel left Livramento, who won his first senior cap in November, out of his latest squad in order for him to come to the Euros. But the ex-Southampton ace revealed a conversation he had with the German about being a leader for the U21s in Slovakia and he says he is loving soaking up all the knowledge from his hero Cole. Livramento said: 'Thomas spoke to me about the senior squad and said that he wanted to speak to Lee as well about giving me that role. 4 'I've never played a tournament for England and any age group. I've always missed it through injuries. That's a big thing for me, coming here and getting this experience and playing with loads of boys that I've come through the age groups with. 'Ashley gets involved in the sessions. Even just watching him, he's still at the highest level of the way he communicates with all the boys. As a coach he's a bit more laid back. 'He sees things, he lets you train and he might pull you to the side after and do a little bit of one-to-one work. 'Obviously as a Chelsea fan when I was younger seeing him and stuff like that is a big thing for me to learn.' England U21 star tipped to become future captain of senior team as youngster is earmarked to solve age-old problem for the Three Lions
England's left back spot has long been a puzzle that managers have had a hard time finding the solution for. Working back from defeat to Senegal, the starting left backs read as follows: Myles Lewis-Skelly, Reece James, Lewis-Skelly twice, Lewis Hall, Rico Lewis, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Rico Lewis twice, Levi Colwill, Luke Shaw, Kieran Trippier, playing as a wing-back, and then three in a row for Trippier. Cast minds even further back and you see Kyle Walker playing a few minutes at left back against Slovenia at Euro 2024; you see Eberechi Eze come on as a left wing-back against Switzerland at the Euros; there were calls from Ian Wright to have Bukayo Saka play at left wing-back or even left back in that same Switzerland game. Crystal Palace 's Tyrick Mitchell can also count himself among the carousel of left backs, albeit one that hasn't featured since 2022 for England. So, when Thomas Tuchel sat down for a one-to-one with Tino Livramento to explain why he wanted him to go away with the Under-21s this summer - rather than link up with the seniors - and take on more responsibility in a camp, it was made crystal clear that left back is there for the taking going forward. 'I see it as a privilege,' Livramento said. 'Thomas spoke to me about the senior squad and I spoke to Lee [Carsley] as well about the role coming here. 'I haven't played at a tournament for England at any age group, I've always missed it through injury, so I think that's a big thing for me.' Livramento was the stand-out player in the Under-21s opening group game against the Czech Republic showcasing a level that was head-and-shoulders ahead of many of his peers. Carsley wasn't surprised and neither was assistant coach Ashley Cole, widely viewed as England's greatest left back, who has put time into Chelsea fan Livramento with one-to-one tips. 'As coach, you stand on the sideline and see how much information he takes on and takes on board,' Cole explained. 'And I keep saying it, but the willingness to want to learn and be the best, I think is always a great trait to have. Livramento has just one senior England cap to his name from when he played right back against the Republic of Ireland during Carsley's interim spell in charge. But it is at left back where Theo Walcott, who played with Livramento at Southampton, works best, even if it's not the 22-year-old's favourite position. 'I like him on left,' Walcott told Mail Sport. 'He's kind of a right-footed Gareth Bale in stature and the way he runs and I feel like he'd be the perfect wing-back for me. 'He is a potential [England] future captain, just because of his presence and how he is around the place. 'As a player he's got the potential to be that leader and they just want more of that because they can see it in him, I can see it in him. You need a little bit more out of him and this tournament can bring a side out of him that he's not used to.' Livramento has heeded the advice of Tuchel by involving himself in the leadership group out here in Slovakia alongside centre back Charlie Cresswell, midfielder Harvey Elliott and team captain James McAtee. His style is more understated, a quiet character but one who is emerging in real time as a star that others are looking to raise there level to match. 'He's kept going,' Carsley said. 'It's his first tournament for England and we believe that if we can have success in these tournaments with these experiences, it's going to help the seniors in the long term. 'But that's got to be his goal - playing in the senior team. He's definitely got the capabilities to do.' With the guidance of a left back legend in Cole and the unwavering backing from Carsley and Tuchel behind the scenes, maybe the missing puzzle piece is now finally ready to slot into place.
