Golf star reveals he considered quitting to make YouTube videos with pals after tournament win
Kristoffer Reitan considered a social-media channel before landing the ultimate clip
New hero Kristoffer Reitan pondered the You Tube golf circuit before emulating Viktor Hovland by being a Norwegian winner on the DP World Tour.
The Scandinavian star claimed his first-ever success at the level with a thrilling play-off win at the Soudal Open.
Reitan defeated Scotland's Ewen Ferguson and Dutchman Darius van Driel in extra-time in Belgium to claim a maiden win on the Tour.
The 27-year-old won the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final last year to return to the DP World Tour for the first time in six years having previously earned playing privileges through Qualifying School in 2018.
But Reitan has revealed that, during a spell off the scene, he seriously contemplating giving up the professional game and moving onto the social-media scene and making YouTube videos playing the game with his pals.
He said: 'This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I keep thinking back to a few years ago when I was seriously considering giving up the game, I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. I didn't see any progress.
'Any time I would pick up the golf clubs after I took a break, it was just to have some fun with some friends, make some videos.
"I was flirting with the idea of YouTube golf for a while, just having fun with my friends and also the same goes with my swing.
'Just trying to have fun and fun means trying to hit hard swings and trying to hit different shapes, just stuff like that and take the seriousness out of it a little bit.
"That's helped me a lot. I need to remind myself of doing that sometimes.
'To be able to turn it around like I have over the last couple of years has been incredible, and to seal it with a win now, it's just unbelievable.'
