US designates BLA, Majeed Brigade as Foreign Terrorist Organisation
Agency: Last Updated: August 11, 2025, 23:30 IST Representational image (Image: News18) New York/Washington, Aug 11 (PTI) The US on Monday designated Pakistan-based Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation. BLA was designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2019 following several terrorist attacks. Since then, the group has claimed responsibility for several attacks, including by the Majeed Brigade, the State Department said in a statement. The statement said the State Department is designating BLA and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO), and adding the Majeed Brigade as an alias to BLA's previous SDGT designation. The action, it said, 'demonstrates the Trump administration's commitment to countering terrorism". 'Terrorist designations play a critical role in our fight against this scourge and are an effective way to curtail support for terrorist activities," the State Department said. In 2025, the group said it was behind the hijacking of the Jaffar Express train travelling from Quetta to Peshawar in March, which resulted in the deaths of 31 civilians and security personnel, and over 300 passengers being taken hostage. 'If you want to browbeat...': Jennifer Welch says Trump voters should be banned from Indian, Chinese, Mexican restaurants
Actor Jennifer Welch made a rant against the supporters of President Donald Trump and said they should be banned from all Mexican, Chinese and Indian restaurants in the US and should only eat at Cracker Barrel instead as they target migrants. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'I've had it with white people that triple Trumped that have the nerve and the audacity to walk into a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, an Indian restaurant, go to a gay hairdresser,' Welch said on her podcast. 'If you want to triple Trump, if you want to brow beat DEI, if you want to brow beat gay people, you want to brow beat black people as you have been doing for hundreds of years… White people that triple Trumped should be boycotted, banned from enjoying the best thing that America has to offer, which is multiculturalism." 'Get your fat a**es out of the Mexican restaurant. Get your fat a**es over at a Cracker Barrel because nobody wants to see your f**king smug a**, teeny weeny pink arm, big gut around.' The meltdown drew flak as social media users called her "unhinged and delusional", though Democrats praised her. 'It's always the most intolerant and hateful pretending to love everyone,' one person commented on the clip. "Jennifer Welch needs a history lesson. Republicans ended slavery and gave citizenship to freed slaves, Democrats voted 0% for both. People of color just helped kick Democrats out of the White House," Rep. Dwayne Yunker said.

This episode of 5 Live features a significant political protest in Delhi, India, where India Bloc Members of Parliament, led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, marched from Parliament towards the Election Commission. The protest centered on allegations of 'vote chori' or vote theft and manipulation of voter lists, specifically concerning the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar. Police stopped the demonstration, leading to the detention of approximately 300 MPs. The government has stated these allegations are baseless. In a separate development, the Supreme Court issued a directive for all stray dogs in Delhi NCR to be picked up and housed in dedicated shelters within eight weeks, prohibiting their release back onto the streets. The court also warned of penalties for any obstruction to this process. The program further covers Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat against India, delivered from American soil, including statements about taking 'half the world down' and threatening missile strikes on Indian dams. India's Ministry of External Affairs termed these remarks reckless and globally destabilizing. Additionally, the show reports on a collision between a Chinese Navy vessel and its own Coast Guard while chasing a Philippine patrol boat in the South China Sea, highlighting ongoing regional tensions.
