The Block 2018 couple Jess and Norm reveal secret separation
Beloved The Block pair Jess Eva and her partner Norm Hogan have revealed they are separated.
The Sydney-based duo, who starred on the 2018 season of the Channel 9 renovation series, quietly called off their engagement three years ago, Eva told New Idea.
'Norm and I split three years ago now. But we still love one another, we're still the best of friends and we are still family,' Eva, 40, told the outlet.
'There is no drama, but we both thought it was a bit up ourselves to publicly announce we had separated at the time.
'It was really just an accumulation of small things and pressures.'
Eva, who shares two young children with Hogan, went into further detail about how they came to the decision to mutually part ways.
'One day, we were both sitting in our backyard, having a beer in front of the fire pit, and I just said, 'Norm, I love you, but we can't keep going like this',' she said.
'He said, 'I love you too – and I agree.''
Hogan, who also participated in the interview, said the couple still live together in Sydney, though sleep in different bedrooms.
'The only thing that has changed about how we feel about each other is our relationship status,' Hogan, 47, said.
The pair, who never married, first met more than a decade ago outside a nightclub.
Eva had publicly praised her ex-fiance in December 2022 after Hogan said he'd been seeking treatment at a mental health facility to deal with the ongoing impact of childhood sexual abuse.
'So, so proud of this guy, my best mate in the world, Norm,' Eva wrote on Instagram at the time.
'You spoke your truth, that you were so scared to do for so long. I pray your voice will help those that feel voiceless. I hope that your courage to speak out will inspire those to realise there is hope.'
During The Block finale in 2018, Eva and Hogan made a cool $209,000 after selling their St Kilda apartment at auction for $2.859 million.
Just two years later, they revealed they'd squandered all of their prize money.
Speaking on Triple M's Moonman in The Morning at the time, Eva said the winnings went on swimming pools, gambling and helping friends.
'The first thing we bought was two above-ground pools and we handed them out to our friends like lollies,' the mum-of-two revealed to co-hosts Lawrence Mooney and Chris Page.
'We just had friends who had been wanting a pool for ages. The above-ground pool salesman would have thought we were loony!
'They're $5000 each, so there's $10,000.'
Eva, who co-hosted Triple M's breakfast show in Sydney alongside Page and Mark Geyer and Chris Page from 2019 to 2022, went on to reveal a chunk of the cash prize went on a big bet at the tennis.
'Remember when Ash Barty was starting out on the tennis circuit, and we didn't know she was going to be a winner and she was playing against Maria Sharapova?' asked Eva.
'We put thousands on Maria Sharapova, and it was just when Ash Barty was starting her winning streak, and I just forgot that Maria was just coming back from her drugs ban … I'll never forget Norm's look after Maria lost the second set, he just had tears in his eyes.'
In comments to news.com.au after the show, Eva further revealed they also paid off a friend's car loan, bought two lawnmowers and a block of land on an island 'without ever going to look at it'.

Matildas great Katrina Gorry has blasted some of the commentary that accompanied Sam Kerr's announcement of the birth of her baby boy. 'And that makes me really upset that people are still, you know, living in that age and in that era and can't see how loved these kids are. 'We spend so much money just to have them. So, you know, we've made that decision together to be able to have the kids. 'We've spent a lot of money to do it and I think that says more than anything.' In Shelton's post on Kerr, he went on to ask: 'When the cultural elites cheer on choices that sideline dads, who's left standing for the child? 'Love is not enough. Every child deserves – and needs – a mum and a dad, wherever possible. 'It's time to put children's rights before adult desires.' Unsurprisingly, Shelton was one of the leading voices of the 'No' campaign against same-sex marriage in Australia in 2017. He wasn't the only one angry at Kerr and Mewis for raising a child together, with United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet, also commenting: 'Children need both a mother and a father.' Those takes came after the couple's baby announcement was inundated with backlash and homophobic abuse. In December, Kerr announced on Instagram the couple would soon become a family of three and the news was widely shared by various accounts such as the Matildas and her club team Chelsea. However, such was the magnitude of hatred and homophobia in the comments, Chelsea had to turn off and hide various comments. The abuse was swiftly condemned by Chelsea Pride, an LGBTQ+ supporter group. 'Homophobia has no place in football, at Chelsea, or in our society,' the group said in a statement. 'It's heartbreaking and infuriating to see social media flooded with hateful comments when we should be celebrating love, pride, and unity. 'Over the weekend and today, our club was forced to shut down comments and even delete posts, posts that should have been shining moments of joy, from the powerful symbolism of Rainbow Laces to the incredible news that Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis will welcome a child in 2025. ‘Scary': Stage invader grabs Katy Perry at Sydney concert
Touring superstar Katy Perry was left momentarily stunned during her Sydney concert on Monday night, when a fan stormed the stage and managed to grab ahold of the star before eventually being tackled by security. Perry, who is in Australia performing a string of arena dates as part of her Lifetimes tour, was onstage at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Monday night when the security scare happened. She was standing on one of the circular catwalks in front of the show's stage that jut out onto the arena floor, allowing her to get closer to fans. Perry was mid-song, stood at her microphone stand with guitar in hand, when an excited fan bounded onto the stage and threw an arm around her. Perry couldn't hide her shock but still barely missed a beat, continuing with the song she was midway through – the 2008 smash Hot N' Cold – while stepping to one side and waiting for security to take care of the incident. Within seconds, two men dressed in black were also on stage, bundling the fan off in the opposite direction. 'There's never going to be another show like this, so just enjoy it!' Perry instructed the audience, as a team of four men now bundled the fan offstage and into the crowd – and presumably, to the nearest exit. Seconds later, Perry was back at the mic stand, unflappably launching into the song's next chorus. The star herself is yet to speak out about the security scare on social media, but the hapless fan's 'scary' antics haven't gone down well among the rest of her fanbase. Some on X wondered whether the incident was 'staged,' with one person commenting that 'if it's real, that's seriously worrying.' 'If you rush the stage mid performance, don't cry when security handles you. Actions have consequences,' another scolded. Another voiced their concerns that it appears to be 'actually really dangerous and ridiculous that she is so easily attainable.' Perry's Lifetimes tour continues with one more show in Sydney tonight, before moving to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide for the rest of June. While Perry's latest album 143 and its accompanying singles didn't set the charts alight, she's still a touring force to be reckoned with, booking 15 arena shows across the country for the Australian leg of her tour.
