Eagles hire Bowling Green head coach to handle QBs
Loeffler, 50, spent the past six seasons at Bowling Green. He replaces Doug Nussmeier, who followed former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to New Orleans, where he is the new coach of the Saints.
The Falcons were 7-6 in 2024 and 27-41 with three bowl game appearances during Loeffler's tenure.
The former Michigan quarterback was an NFL quarterback coach with the Detroit Lions in 2008 and has extensive coaching experience in college, including working under Urban Meyer at Florida.
Bowling Green is beginning the search process for its next head coach.
"BGSU is a special university and community that truly embraces relationships, people and the student experience," Bowling Green athletic director Derek van der Merwe said in a statement.
"In these last six seasons, Scot built a very successful program in a challenging climate in collegiate sports. More importantly, he built this program while ensuring his team and coaches were truly committed to the values and mission that make this university great. Like other great coaches in the history of BGSU football, he has demonstrated that when you build around the strengths of this University and its mission, anything is possible. I am looking forward to this process of finding the next great leader for our program who embraces what it means to be a Falcon."

August 21 - Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Johnny Wilson will have season-ending surgery on his knee and ankle, multiple outlets reported Thursday. Wilson sustained the injury at practice on Tuesday when his left leg got rolled up on during a running play. He left on a cart after being evaluated in the medical tent. The 6-foot-6 Wilson was drafted in the sixth round in 2024 and caught five passes for 38 yards and one touchdown in 16 games (four starts) last season for the Super Bowl champions. Wilson, 24, caught three passes for 73 yards in the Aug. 7 preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. The loss of Wilson makes Sunday's acquisition of wide receiver John Metchie III from the Houston Texans even more timely. Metchie, 25, had 40 receptions for 412 yards and one TD in 29 games with Houston over the past two seasons. The Kansas City Chiefs have traded two-time Super Bowl winner Skyy Moore to the San Francisco 49ers. Moore, 24, won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2023 and 2024, playing 36 times over the course of three seasons at Arrowhead Stadium.
