Colorado football lands in final three schools for four-star in-state tackle
Colorado's head coach, Deion Sanders, has excelled at recruiting since he took over, landing some of the most impressive recruits in school history and multiple five-stars.
Sanders has made the Buffaloes' offensive line a focal point, and Coach Prime is close to landing another outstanding lineman to further the rebuild. The Buffaloes were announced as finalists for four-star tackle Deacon Schmitt out of Windsor, Colorado.
The local product stands 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, potentially bringing collegiate-ready size to the Buffaloes. Schmitt announced that he is down to three schools, Oklahoma, Alabama and Colorado, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
Schmitt visited Boulder on May 2, the earliest visit of any of the three finalist schools. He visited Oklahoma on June 6 and Alabama on May 30.
Schmitt displays quality footwork and above-average mobility, but what flashes on his tape is his tenacity. On multiple plays, you can find him driving his matchup five or 10 yards off the line of scrimmage, even if the play isn't going his way.
CU fans will have to hold their breath for a couple more weeks as Schmitt is set to announce his commitment on June 28.

LOS ANGELES — Casey Schmitt isn't one to hang his head for long, his particularly ill-timed error in Denver one day earlier forgotten Friday as the San Francisco Giants opened a key series at Dodger Stadium. He atoned, and in majestic fashion, in the fourth inning, walloping a grand slam into the seats, sauntering slowly out of the box, not at all intimidated in the least by the beasts of the NL West. That blast off Yoshinobu Yamamoto helped vault the Giants to a 6-2 win and into a first-place tie with Los Angeles atop the division. Willy Adames thwacked the Giants' first homer, a solo shot in the first — Adames' third in four games — Los Angeles native Dominic Smith had his second consecutive three-hit game, and Logan Webb worked seven innings and allowed the powerful Dodgers just two hits. In the eighth, catcher Andrew Knizner recorded his first hit with San Francisco, a solo homer to center that bounced beyond the fence and sprang back on the field, causing some initial confusion as he pulled up at third.
