Lee's Summit police officer injured in shooting released from hospital
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lee's Summit police officer injured in a shooting late Sunday night has been released from the hospital.
Lee's Summit Police Sgt. Chris Depue said Officer Jared Timbrook was shot Sunday evening while chasing a suspect on foot while responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex. He was treated by fellow officers on scene and taken to an area trauma center.

'Officer Timbrook was shot four times, his medical team did an amazing job of caring for him,' Depue said.
Depue said Timbrook will continue his healing journey at home.
'On behalf of Officer Timbrook and his family along with the men and women of the LSPD, we are thankful for the amazing care that he received and the outpouring of support for him from this amazing community,' Depue aded.
Timbrook has been with the police department for approximately 18 months.
Thomas Eugene Tolbert, the man suspected of shooting Timbrook, was found and arrested in Ellis, Kansas early Tuesday morning.
Ellis Police Chief Avery Smith said Tolbert received a ride from someone who didn't know Tolbert was wanted. He made it to a hotel about 300 miles west of the Kansas City metro area .
Around 4:50 a.m., KBI agents, Ellis County Sheriff's Office deputies, and Hays Police Department officers arrived at the hotel and safely took Tolbert into custody, per KBI.
Depue says the Blue Alert helped speed up the process of locating and arresting Tolbert.

Tolbert was arrested on a Missouri warrant for first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest or detention by fleeing, and second-degree domestic assault. The charges were filed Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court in connection to the shooting.
Tolbert has been booked into the Ellis County jail, according to the KBI.

Good Samaritan steps up to help Grandview carpenter after trailer, tools stolen
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some good news, a good Samaritan who saw our story about a carpenter who said his trailer and equipment were stolen in Grandview, is stepping up to help. . Kyle Hudson now has a set of tools and lots of equipment thanks to a generous donation. 'Once it leaves here it's yours,' the good Samaritan said. 'I hope it helps.' The man who donated more than a dozen pieces of equipment wanted to remain anonymous, but felt pulled to help. He heard Hudson's story. Hudson said in May, a thief took off with his trailer, along with all his Milwaukee tools and work equipment inside. It was parked outside his home in Grandview and wasn't insured. He said about $10,000-worth of items — gone. 'The material and the equipment got stolen in the trailer,' Hudson said. A generous viewer saw our FOX4 story and reached out to help Hudson, a total stranger. We were there for the hand off of equipment, including saws, drills, even an air compressor. They were all items he owned. 'They were items that I've had it for several years and I love it.' The man said. 'Sell it or do whatever to get you some Milwaukee stuff again.' 'It means getting back to work sooner than later,' Hudson said, 'With everything here pretty much immediately. And that was pretty far out of sight.' The man donating this equipment related to Hudson's story. He said about ten years ago, a thief stole $25-30,000-worth of work equipment out of his trailer. He told me, that's why he wants to help. Hudson said since the trailer and everything inside was stolen, he's lost several grateful this equipment will help him get back to work. 'There are good people out there, it might not be your next-door neighbor but there are people that are going to help if you speak up. Man sentenced for North Kansas City High School shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 20-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man has been sentenced for his role in a 2024 shooting that happened at North Kansas City High School. Michael Smallwood was sentenced in Clay County court on Friday to a total of 18 years in prison. He was sentenced to seven years for second-degree accessory to assault, six years for second-degree assault, four years for unlawful use of a weapon and one year for accessory. Bishop Miege High School president placed on leave amid safety concerns The sentences are set to run consecutive to the accessory to assault charge. The shooting left multiple people with injuries, at North Kansas City High School. An adult not associated with the school was also seriously hurt in the shooting. An investigation revealed that two groups of young men were seen leaving the basketball game at the school just before 6 p.m. on March 2, 2024. A witness saw a person, from the second group, yelling at the first group to leave while keeping one hand concealed. A person from the first group then pulled out a firearm and began shooting. Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson said, at that point, three people from the second group pulled out firearms and began shooting. Thompson said the adult injured in the shooting was part of the first group of young men seen leaving the basketball game. He said surveillance video shows him falling to the ground while being shot at. He's then seen raising a black handgun and firing one time.
