Arrest after man, 70, seriously hurt in crash on Sheffield street
A man has been arrested after a crash which left another man with "life-changing" injuries, police have said.A mobility scooter and a black Ford Focus were involved in a collision on Norton Avenue, Sheffield, at about 16:25 GMT on Sunday, according to South Yorkshire Police.A 70-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and drug-driving, a force spokesperson said.Police appealed for anyone who saw what happened, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the scene at around the time of the collision, to get in touch.

Five feared killed in horror school shooting as armed police swarm scene
Elite armed police have raced to a school in Graz, Austria's second largest city, after a gunman opened fire in broad daylight. The BORG Dreierschützengasse school is being evacuated with officers swarming the scene. Austrian special task force Cobra has also been deployed to the horror incident, which unfolded at about 10am local time. There are fears as many as five people may have been killed and multiple people injured, according to local media, and a police spokesperson believes the shooter may be a pupil at the school. Students and teachers are believed to be among the victims. Federal police have been deployed to the scene, according to local reports. Cobra units - armed special forces part of the Federal Ministry of the Interior - have rushed to a community administered hospital nearby the shooting site. At keast five people may have died following the school shooting this morning. Police rushed to the scene at around 10am local time (9am GMT) this morning, in the Dreierschützengasse neighborhood, with a local spokesperson telling national broadcaster ORF early on that one person may have died. Fritz Grundnig said one person "possibly also dead" following the shooting. Veteran officer Bradshaw was cleared of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but was forced to leave his job after 22 years. At the time, the court heard serial offender McGarry had 42 previous convictions - including for robbery, theft and dangerous driving. The 19-year-old is now finally behind bars after he mounted the pavement in a friend's car at 60mph and hit a lorry while being chased by cops - just a month after the e-bike crash. Portsmouth Crown Court heard McGarry was driving his sister and two others in the borrowed Vauxhall when his friend called police to say the car had not been returned. Officers began a pursuit through Chichester as the teen drove at 60mph in a 40mph zone in a bid to shake them off. But McGarry tried to "squeeze" in past the lorry and instead mounted the pavement and hit the vehicle - causing £1,200 worth of damage. The thug pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop and driving without insurance. The court heard his list of previous convictions was "unenviable" and includes offences of drug possession, trafficking and two dangerous driving convictions. McGarry was sent to a young offender's institution for 12 months. Sentencing, Judge Jodie Mittell said: "The concern I obviously have is that the fifth time he will kill someone. "That could be his sister." At PC Bradshaw's trial in February, the court heard the crash took place while the officer was driving a marked Ford Focus. He said he tried to follow the e-bike after it rode past his car on the pavement in an attempt to "goad" him. Bradshaw said the same bike later pulled in front of him which is when he chose to make "tactical contact" at around 30mph. But he claimed only he "nudged" the electric bike with the bumper of his vehicle and that it was Mizzi's "own stupid fault". Bradshaw, who is now retired, added: "It was light contact, it was light enough, there was not a blemish on my police car. "I believed it was a justified, necessary action." During a voluntary interview with police, he also branded McGarry a "feral" teenager and someone who "just doesn't get it, just doesn't stop". A jury took just over an hour to reach their verdict and clear Bradshaw of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was also found not guilty of a charge of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. The data was analysed by Show Plates World, which looked into the car models stolen the most between May 2024 and May 2025. Car theft continues to be a major issue across the UK, with more than 61,000 vehicles reported stolen in the past 12 months. Across the top 10 most stolen cars, models from Ford and Range Rover had multiple inclusions. Top 10 stolen car models in the UK in the last year According to the analysis of the DVLA data from Show Plates World, the top 10 most stolen car models were: 1. Ford Fiesta – 4,446 stolen Ford Fiesta was far and away the most stolen car model in the UK, with more than 4,400 nicked over the last year. With over 1.5 million on UK roads and Ford discontinuing the model, demand for spare parts is high. Older versions lacking advanced security are especially vulnerable. 2. Volkswagen Golf – 1,731 stolen A reliable family car – and a favourite among thieves. Its popularity and plentiful parts make it a common target for theft and dismantling. Easy to steal and in high demand for parts, particularly older pre-immobiliser versions. 4. The common use of keyless entry makes this model especially attractive to organised criminals. 5. Toyota RAV4 – 1,260 stolen This practical SUV is often stolen using keyless relay attacks and shipped abroad or stripped for parts. 6.
