Georgia finishes on high note with win over Vanderbilt
March 8 - Asa Newell and Silas Demary Jr. led Georgia with 15 points apiece on Saturday, helping the Bulldogs post a 79-68 win over visiting Vanderbilt in Athens, Ga., in Southeastern Conference play.
Dakota Leffew added 14 points, while fellow reserve Tyrin Lawrence chipped in 13, as Georgia (20-11, 8-10 SEC) won its fourth straight regular season game, all but securing its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2015.
Jason Edwards led Vanderbilt (20-11, 8-10) with 24 points, followed by Chris Manon and Jaylen Carey, who finished with 10 points each. The Commodores dropped their second straight game to close out the regular season. Vanderbilt is also projected to make the NCAA Tournament, which would be its first appearance since 2017.
After the halftime-score was tied at 39, Georgia took its largest lead to that point on Dylan James and Demary's back-to-back 3-pointers, giving the Bulldogs a 51-44 edge.
Leffew's driving layup then extended Georgia's advantage to 10 with 13:12 remaining, before Devin McGlockton's basket stamped an 8-0 Vanderbilt spree to trim the Commodores' deficit to 59-56 with less than 10 minutes left.
Georgia then answered with another run, this time a game-clinching 15-0 stretch that included Leffew's 10 points. Edwards' free throws at the 3:38 mark stopped the bleeding for Vanderbilt, snapping a six-plus minute scoring drought and cutting the Bulldogs' lead to 73-58.
Leffew's floater in the lane pushed Georgia's edge to 78-64 with 1:41 remaining, sealing the Bulldogs' first home win over Vanderbilt since February 2021.
After Carey's triple gave Vanderbilt an early 18-16 edge, James' putback dunk and Newell's triple swung the lead to the Bulldogs midway through the opening half.
Minutes later, Demary's free throws gave Georgia 27-25 lead, before Edwards' 3-pointer began a 7-0 Commodores' run. Demary's ensuing layup then jumpstarted an 8-0 Georgia spurt. Newell knocked in a pair of free throws with 0.5 seconds left, knotting the halftime-score at 39.

Kirk Cousins drops major hint over NFL future with the Falcons at mandatory minicamp after tense standoff
Kirk Cousins appeared to confirm that he will be staying in Atlanta when the new season rolls around - whether he's the Falcons' starter or not. The former Minnesota Vikings player only joined the Falcons 12 months ago and signed a huge four-year, $180million contract. However, the veteran was hoping to be traded away this offseason after losing his place as the team's starting quarterback to Michael Penix Jr. in December and had skipped OTAs amid the standoff. Yet, the 36-year-old reported for the team's mandatory minicamp Tuesday, seemingly suggesting that he was locking in for the new season with the Falcons. 'We're moving forward and it's about how we as a team and as a quarterback room can be the best we can be in 2025,' he told reporters. When pressed on whether he'd be suiting up elsewhere in the league in the hope of starting, Cousins appeared to have accepted his fate. 'Obviously you'd love to play, but I'm not going to dwell on things that aren't reality,' he candidly responded. Cousins led the Falcons to a 6-3 start last season but lost his job after struggling with interceptions. The Falcons were 1-2 with Penix as the starter for an 8-9 final record. Cousins kept it classy when discussing his younger counterpart, publicly offering his support to Penix. 'Michael's gonna do great. He's going to have a great career. He's off to a great start,' he said. 'I'm just here to support him as he needs it.' Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot had said the team wass comfortable in having Cousins remain with the team as the backup to Penix Jr., the team's 2024 first-round pick but head coach Raheem Morris said the team was open to listening to trade offers. Yet when questioned about the situation Tuesday, Morris brushed it off, insisting that he had no concerns over his quarterback room. 'I don't worry about those things with Kirk because he's a man first, and like, he's gonna go out and do whatever it takes to help this football team as long as he's with us, and he's with us.' explained Morris. 'It's been really less dramatic of a situation than it has been from an outside-of-the-building standpoint.'

'We are very proud for everything he [has done]. 6 "Of course, we are a little sad, but I want everything in his life [to] continue going well. "I want all good for him and his brother, and I think that they do the same for us. 'I don't know what can be in the future. "We have our own [direction right now] We love him. We love his brother.
