Ramakrishna Electronics' bank fraud: ED grills Allu Aravind

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the ED on Friday grilled Tollywood producer Allu Aravind in connection with a Rs 101.4 crore bank fraud and a money laundering case linked to Ramakrishna Electronics and Ramakrishna Teletronics (RTPL). Sources said that Aravind was grilled for over three hours, especially regarding his alleged links to Ramakrishna Electronics and Ramakrishna Telotronics, which are accused of securing massive loans from Union Bank of India in 2018-19. The two firms reportedly obtained Rs101 crore in loans, which they diverted for personal use and not for any legitimate business purposes. During investigations, Aravind's name surfaced in several property transactions and financial dealings related to these companies. Following the initial round of questioning, ED officials issued fresh summons to Aravind directing him to appear before the agency next week. The ED's Hyderabad zonal office conducted searches across Hyderabad, Kurnool, and Ghaziabad as part of its probe into the alleged diversion and misappropriation of loan funds. They seized documents related to properties suspected to have been bought with the proceeds of crime, froze about Rs 1.45 crore in bank accounts of the accused and their companies, and recovered digital devices and records of foreign payments. Siblings V Raghavendra and V Ravi Kumar are the key figures in the group and they allegedly misused the loans in connivance with others.

In Rajasthan, ED Raid Foiled As Mahadev Scam Accused Ran Away From Wedding Venue

Last Updated: The ED interrogated the newlywed bride, other family members, and guests about the multi-crore Mahadev Betting App case. In a shocking turn of events right out of a thriller, the major suspect groom in the Mahadev Betting App scam reportedly ran away from his wedding mandap in Jaipur, Rajasthan, just minutes before the holy 'saat pheras,' to avert an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid. The groom, Saurabh Ahuja, ran off the wedding stage minutes before the last vows were exchanged in an unusual event that took place at the opulent Fairmont Hotel in Jaipur. The raid was carried out about the Mahadev Betting App scandal, which cost Rs 15,000 crore, and Ahuja is a wanted suspect in the case. Thus, the ED officers went to the wedding venue to arrest him. Based on a specific tip, ED officials discovered that the fugitive suspect had discreetly booked into the Fairmont Hotel with his family and was getting ready for a low-key nuptial. Hours after the ceremony, the agency arrived at the location, but the groom had already left, having been forewarned of the upcoming raid. Before the 'saptapadi' or 'saat pheras' could be performed, Ahuja, who was identified as a close aide of the primary operators of the Mahadev app, left the mandap and disappeared before the authorities could take him into custody. The guests and family members on both sides were left in disbelief by the incident. According to witnesses, the groom abruptly departed the stage while wearing his bridal gown, claiming to have received an emergency call, and disappeared before anyone could respond. When ED officers arrived at the scene to arrest him, he had already escaped. Saurabh Ahuja has been accused of managing crores of rupees in illicit transactions related to the Mahadev Online Betting App. He has been under ED surveillance in the money laundering case for some time. Following the ceremony, they dispatched a squad from Raipur to Jaipur to make his arrest. The ED interrogated the newlywed bride and several relatives and guests who attended the ceremony. Authorities arrested three people on suspicion of helping Ahuja and making his escape possible. The three were brought to Raipur for additional interrogation. The ED launched a search operation to apprehend Ahuja, and the arrested suspect, Pranavendra, is still being questioned. As the investigation into the Mahadev app fraud continues, more arrests are reportedly expected in the days to come. First Published:

ED charges totally strange & unprecedented, Sonia tells court in National Herald case

NEW DELHI: Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, called the Enforcement Directorate's money laundering case against Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi 'unprecedented.' Singhvi began his rebuttal after additional solicitor general S V Raju for ED on July 3 concluded his arguments on the point of cognisance of the chargesheet filed in the case. 'This is truly a strange case. More than strange. Unprecedented. This is an alleged case of money laundering, without any property, without use or projection of property. There was not an inch of property moved from Associated Journals Limited (AJL) to Young Indian. No Congress leader gets any property or money. Yet this is called money laundering,' Singhvi argued. The ED has alleged that top Congress leaders conspired to fraudulently acquire assets worth over Rs 2,000 crore belonging to Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the publisher of the National Herald, through a not-for-profit entity, Young Indian.
