Trump says he would have ‘forced' Bryan Kohberger to explain why he killed and ‘steal these innocent souls'

The White House said that if it were up to President Donald Trump, he would have 'forced' Bryan Kohberger to 'publicly explain' why he killed four Idaho college students — after the cold-blooded killer declined to share his motive during his sentencing hearing. After sharing a message from the White House to the families of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, who were brutally stabbed to death in 2022, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that if it were up to Trump, more would be done to deliver justice. "If it were up to the President, he would have forced this monster to publicly explain why he chose to steal these innocent souls,' Leavitt said, despite there being no obligation for the killer to share a motive for the crime. The horrifying November 2022 killings of the four University of Idaho students shocked the college town of Moscow and captivated national audiences due to the sheer violence with no clear motive. Kohberger maintained his innocence for over two years, up until July 2, 2025, when he abruptly took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to all four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary.

Both Ishtaq Hussain and Aiwaz Hussain have appeared before Blackburn Magistrates Court. Neck wounds Detective were called to the mosque on Lower Antley Street about 14:30 BST and found a man in his 40s with stab wounds to his back. The force said he had since been discharged from hospital. Minutes later police were also called to an assault on Craven Street where a man was found with stab injuries in his neck. He was taken to hospital and is in a serious but stable condition, police said. Officers have said they want to track down three other men from Accrington who have link to Coventry and the West Midlands in connection with the attack outside the mosque. The force has also appealed for anyone with information about the disorder, including any footage, to come forward. Bryan Kohberger sentenced to life without parole

Bryan Kohberger has finally been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of four Idaho students after a judge slammed his 'grotesque acts of evil.' Judge Stephen Hippler pulled no punches at a Boise courthouse Wednesday as he ordered Kohberger, 30, to be held in custody by the Idaho Department of Corrections until his death over the November 2022 murders of four young students. 'These grotesque acts of evil have buried anything that might have buried anything that had been good about him,' Hippler told a hushed courtroom, shortly after wiping a tear from his eye. 'I'm unable to come up with anything redeemable about Mr Kohberger.' 'His actions have made him the worst of the worst. There is nothing hinting remorse, redemption, nothing hinting regret for the pain he has caused. 'I will now sentence him so that he is forever removed from civilized society.' Kohberger was handed four life sentences for each life he took - one for Madison Mogen, a second for Kaylee Goncalves, a third for Ethan Chapin and the final one for Xana Kernodle. A plea deal struck earlier this month saw Kohberger spared the death penalty, but he will never be able to apply for parole. Earlier in Wednesday's sentencing, Kohberger was asked if he'd like to address the court, with the criminology student's motive still a mystery. 'I respectfully decline,' he said in a frighteningly forceful voice. Kohberger sat impassively as his sentence was passed. The initial part of the hearing had seen the families of his victims confront him. That saw them share their desire for Kohberger to be [sexually assaulted] and attacked in prison. Judge Hippler addressed Kohberger's continued silence on the shocking bloodbath against four innocent strangers. He also shared his disgust at the thought of the killer collaborating on a book or movie about his crimes while behind bars. The judge added: 'I desire the answers … to why but on reflection… to continue to focus on why we continue to give Mr Kohberger relevance, to give him power. 'Do we really believe after all this he is capable of speaking the truth? 'There is no reason for these crimes that resemble rationality. 'No conceivable reason could make any sense.
