Kakinada cops bust cybercrime racket
Kakinada: Police have busted cybercrime racket and arrested two persons who duped the public to the tune of 9 crore. At least 50 persons were cheated in Kakinada and Samalkota areas with mal bank accounts.
The police have identified 48 accounts in Karnataka bank, HDFC, IDBI and Chaitanya Godavari Grameena bank, in which illegal bank transactions took place. It has been found that the transactions were held from Bengaluru and Dubai. The police have arrested Narni Satish Chandra and Dasari Veera Venkata Satyannarayana, hailing from Samalkota. Two other accused identified as Uday Kiran and Puttaram are at large and the police are searching for them. TNN

An elderly man in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria allegedly slit his throat as a sacrifice on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha on Saturday. According to locals, he killed himself on Eid, leaving behind a note, 'I am sacrificing myself in the name of Allah and his messenger." However, the police have not yet confirmed the recovery of any such note, but said that he had used a knife to cut his throat inside a hut near his residence. As his family members heard him scream, they rushed to the hut and saw him in a pool of blood. They took him to the district medical college with police assistance. He was referred to the Gorakhpur Medical College for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries. 'Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased inflicted the wound himself. However, we are probing the matter from all angles," Additional Superintendent of Police (North), Arvind Kumar Verma, told news agency PTI. According to the 60-year-old's family, he attempted to take his own life after he returned from the dargah of Sultan Syed Makhdoom Ashraf Shah around 10 am following Eid prayers on Saturday. His wife said that as he returned home, he went to the hut immediately. His cries were heard an hour later, after which the family members found him in a pool of blood with a knife beside him.
