Ohio State center named to 2025 Rimington preseason watch list
Last week, 40 names were announced on the preseason watch list, and Ohio State center Carson Hinzman was one of those names appearing.
Originally from Hammond, Wisconsin, Hinzman was the starting center during the 2023 campaign, but fell to a backup when Seth McLaughlin transferred from Alabama and earned the No. 1 role. However, an injury to McLauglin afforded Hinzman an opportunity to step back in as the starter, and he excelled, helping lead a resurgent offensive line en route to a College Football Playoff national championship.
The 6-foot, 5-inch, 300-pounder should be the starter at the position again in 2025, and there's a good chance he ends up being an All-Big Ten performer and one of the best centers in the country.
The Rimington will be announced on December 12 and officially handed out during a ceremony in Lincoln, Nebraska, on January 25, 2025.

Watch: Alabama football walk-on offensive lineman receives full scholarship
An Alabama football offensive lineman has a full scholarship for his redshirt senior season. According to a video posted by the University of Alabama Name, Image and Likeness collective Friday, August. 15, Graham Roten, a fifth-year offensive lineman out of Nashville, Tennessee, received a scholarship from 68 Ventures, a development and investment company based in Daphne, Alabama. "Everything that they have taken from here, wanting to give back," Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said of 68 Ventures founder Nathan Cox. "And I know this has been on Nathan's heart for a while. We've been talking about this, swapping emails. He's put a lot into what he wanted this scholarship ... this 68 Ventures support for one of you walk-ons, including everything that a scholarship player would have: room and board, tuition, books, fees, all of it." DeBoer then announced Roten as the recipient, who was mobbed by his offensive line teammates. "Forever grateful for the opportunity to be (a part) of this program for the past 5 years," Roten wrote on his Instagram story. Cox said Roten was the only player who pulled Cox aside at a spring practice and talked with him about what he wanted to pursue after football with his business degree. Roten played in two games for Alabama in 2024: Western Kentucky and Mercer. He was offensive scout team player of the week ahead of the Western Kentucky opener. Roten also played in Alabama's 2023 win against Chattanooga. Alabama football opens the 2025 season at Florida State Aug. 30. Goins played for the Spartans from 2015 to 2019, where he played a big part in the Spartans winning a pair of Big Ten titles and reaching the Final Four in 2019. It was his shot against Duke in the Elite Eight that propelled the Spartans to the Final Four that season. Since leaving Michigan State, Goins has primarily played in Europe. According to Basketball Reference, Goins has played a pair of seasons in the Greek Basketball League and one year in the France LNB Pro A. Brewers Activate All-Star Rookie Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski Before Reds Series
Major League Baseball Brewers Activate All-Star Rookie Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski Before Reds Series Published Aug. 15, 2025 3:44 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Milwaukee Brewers rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has been activated from the injured list after missing about 2½ weeks with a left tibia contusion. The move potentially clears the way for the All-Star right-hander to pitch in the NL Central-leading Brewers' series opener Friday at Cincinnati as they attempt to earn a 13th straight victory, which would match the longest winning streak in franchise history. The Brewers won their first 13 games in 1987. Misiorowski last pitched on July 28 in an 8-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Misiorowski's knee appeared to buckle in the first inning that night as he fielded a dribbler and threw wildly to first base, though he remained in the game and ended up lasting four innings. He owns a 4-1 record and 2.70 ERA in seven starts. Misiorowski has struck out 47 batters over 33.1 innings. In other moves Friday, the Brewers optioned right-handed pitcher Grant Anderson to Triple-A Nashville, placed outfielder Blake Perkins on the bereavement list, put outfielder Isaac Collins on the paternity list and recalled infielder Tyler Black and outfielder Steward Berroa from Nashville. Anderson, 28, was 2-3 with a 3.07 ERA in 53 relief appearances with Milwaukee. The Brewers and Reds last faced off on June 4 in Cincinnati, with Milwaukee winning, 9-1. The Brewers are 42-15 since and have built up an eight-game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central, but the Reds aren't that far behind: in the same stretch, Cincinnati has gone 34-25, and improved from under .500 to half-a-game behind the Mets for the NL's third wild card.
