Brian Wilson, the legendary singer, songwriter, producer, and genius behind The Beach Boys, passed away earlier this month on June 11. Since the tragic news broke, the talented man's music has become hugely popular again, as is often the case whenever a legend like him dies. The beloved musician even scores a new solo win in the United Kingdom now that a full tracking week has passed and fans continue to honor his work.
Brian Wilson's Smile Debuts
On the Official Album Downloads chart, Brian Wilson Presents Smile finally debuts. The set, which is credited to Wilson alone and which goes officially by the name Smile, opens at No. 87 on the ranking of the top-selling full-lengths and EPs on platforms like iTunes and Amazon throughout the U.K.
A Rare Solo Appearance for Brian Wilson
Wilson has only reached the Official Album Downloads chart twice under his own name. He first landed on the tally just over a decade ago in April 2015, when No Pier Pressure launched at No. 70. That set would spend just one frame on the ranking before disappearing.
Brian Wilson's Smile Has Charted Before
While Smile is new to the Official Album Downloads list, it has already appeared on multiple other rankings in the U.K. Smile peaked at No. 7 on both the Official Albums and Official Physical Albums charts. It also gave Wilson his first appearance on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking, where it entered and stalled at No. 32 in May 2005.
Decades in the Making, Smile Becomes a Bestseller
Smile was originally conceived as a Beach Boys album that Wilson had been working on in the mid-sixties. At the time, he faced health issues and abandoned the project, and he didn't pick it back up for decades. When the producer and songwriter finally felt ready to dedicate his time and effort to the full-length, he decided to continue working on it alone, finished it, and released the full-length in September 2004 — a little less than 40 years after he began it.
The album was regarded as a critical smash, and in the two decades since it dropped, its lore has only grown. Now, as the world mourns Wilson, it has become a bestselling title once again.

Man Leaves Behind 'Yes List' for Girlfriend After He Dies. 3 Years Later, She's Checking Off the Boxes

Elena Ricci, 29, is checking off the boxes on a list of 101-item "yes list" she received in the mail days after her boyfriend Chirag died Among the items on the list are dying her hair blonde, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and bungee jumping "I'm grateful that he sent me that," the content creator saidThree years ago, a British man left behind a 101-item 'yes list' for his girlfriend. Now, she's starting to check off all the boxes. Elena Ricci, 29, said her boyfriend of six years Chirag, 26, died by suicide in July 2022, according to SWNS. Just a few days later, the content creator from Birmingham said she received a letter in the mail from Chirag. The letter contained a list of 50 things they wanted to do as a couple, and another 51 things Elena had mentioned wanting to do herself. The goal, she said, was to ensure she continued to live her life, even after he was gone. "When I first read it I thought 'what the hell is this?' she recalled, noting that she was initially left 'angry' and in 'disbelief." Three years later, in January 2025, Elena reread the list from Chirag, according to SWNS. She then decided to start the list, and her goal is to check off every single item. "Now going through it again, I still feel some anger but I'm grateful that he sent me that,' she explained, adding, "I'm re-learning how to live.' Elena has already accomplished a number of items on the list, including "enjoying her birthday' on May 11. "I enjoyed it for the first time in two years,' she explained. Now, Elena wants to visit Stourhead, where Pride and Prejudice was filmed, and dye her hair blonde. Chirag suggested Elena do some fun and adventurous things, such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, going to Bali and bungee jumping. He also encouraged her to 'have an Italian summer romance before you're 30' and 'ask your mum to arrange a date for you,' as well as 'play guitar again and actually become good at it' and 'do something you hate.' Also on the list is buying a house, which Elena hopes to work toward while accomplishing some of the other items. Chirag also recommended that Elena go to therapy, which she has already started. Some of the items surprised Elena, who said she had only mentioned a few of them in passing over the years. "I wanted to do something really big for my 30th like going to Thailand. I mentioned it when we first started dating. I don't know how he remembered that,' she explained. "There was also bungee jumping - I mentioned it as a joke. I'm terrified of heights. Elena hopes that by opening up about her grief, it can help others heal from theirs. "Life looks completely different,' she said, 'it doesn't mean you can't enjoy the life I have now.' The Pride Parade Marches On: Loud, Proud And Unbought

The cuts resulted from risk assessment by corporations responding to political pressure after the Trump administration halted federal diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Still, the parades have continued, some say with a renewed sense of fervor and purpose. 'The corporate exodus that has sent Pride organizers scrambling for alternative funding sources could be a blessing in disguise, paving the way for more meaningful celebrations,' said Slate senior writer Christina Cauterucci in her article, 'The End of the Rainbow.' 'Queers in big cities are already hosting massive events with minimal operating costs and no sponsors,' Cauterucci continued. 'They're called Dyke Marches, and they run on volunteer labor, community fundraising, and a lot of nerve.' The Christopher Street Liberation Day March, held on June 28, 1970, marked the event's first anniversary in New York City. The event was also celebrated in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. This year's New York City Pride March will be held on June 29—it's among the world's largest. The theme, 'Rise Up: Pride in Protest!', harkens back to Stonewall's origins, when demonstrators fought back against a police raid. The New York City event will also hold Youth Pride on June 28, a 'block party-style, queer-affirming celebration of LGBTQIA+ youth and their families and allies,' according to the event website. Not all corporations have cut associations with Pride Month. Not surprisingly, upscale clothing lines are largely on board. The 2025 Levi Strauss & Co. campaign, 'Meet You In The Park,' enlists musicians, chefs, artists, and entrepreneurs to help roll out its Levi's Pride collection, parade sponsorships and donations to organizations. On June 7, Avani+ Riverside Bangkok hosted a 'Drag Up The Past' event, paying tribute to queer musical artists. The hotel is also hosting a Pride Month art exhibition through June 30. Also in Bangkok: the Avani Sukhumvit and Avani Ratchada have hosted events. The hotel brand will close out the month with music, fashion, and live shows on June 28 at its Avani Chaweng Samui property in Koh Samui, Thailand, followed by a drag gourmet event on June 29. Avani's Amsterdam and Milan properties are also taking part. "Pride isn't just a celebration, it's a celebration of progress,' says Rebecca Hall, Avani's PR and communications director. 'At Avani, we support every person's right to be seen, loved and celebrated exactly as they are.' Rounding out the year, Pride celebrations are being held in Toronto (June 26-29), which is Canada's largest such festival, Madrid (June 27-July 5), Taipei (October 25-26) and Johannesburg (October 25), among others. Tens of thousands from across Europe gathered in the coastal capital for the parade, the week's highlight. EuroPride is hosted by a different European city each year. Amsterdam will host EuroPride 2026, and Turin (Torino in Italian) will host in 2027—'a loud signal to the Italian government' given recent pushback against LGBTQ rights, according to the European Pride Organizers Association. The northern Italian city captured more than half of votes, with the UK's Gloucestershire coming in second. 'Pride organizations from across Europe have sent a strong message to the Italian government led by Georgia Meloni, that the rollbacks on LGBTI+ equality and human rights must be stopped,' stated the European Pride Organizers Association.

Aaron Sorkin is making a sequel to The Social Network

The Social Network is finally getting a sequel courtesy of Sony. Deadline reports that Sony is moving forward with The Social Network Part II, a 'follow-up' to David Fincher's 2010 feature about how TheFacebook went on to become one of the most singularly influential websites in internet history and made Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire in the process. Though Fincher is not attached to the new movie, Aaron Sorkin — who wrote the first — is coming back to write and direct Part II. No production timelines or casting announcements have been made, but Sorkin will produce the project alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser. While much of The Social Network was based on Ben Mezrich's The Accidental Billionaires, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Part II will draw inspiration from The Facebook Files, The Wall Street Journal's article series that explored the myriad societal harms Facebook has caused over the years. Last year, Sorkin teased that he'd been contemplating a sequel to The Social Network that might dig into the way Facebook helped foment the rage that culminated in an attempted coup on January 6th, 2021. It sounds like that idea has evolved a full-blown picture that Sony wants to make, and given how much more of a juggernaut Facebook has become in recent years, Sorkin's decision to go a bigger with Part II is probably a good move.
