Kevin Durant trade expected soon, NBA Conference Finals contender likely to pursue him
There's no debate that Kevin Durant is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer. What is up for debate is what team the Phoenix Suns superstar will be playing for when the 2025-26 NBA season tips off.
The Suns are working hard to trade the 15-time All-Star, and several teams are expected to have interest. Possibly even one of the teams from the NBA's Conference Finals.

Specifically, ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggests the New York Knicks could be among the teams that pursue a Durant trade in the next few weeks.
'I do believe Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks. I expect them to look into the Durant trade market pretty soon. There are going to be a handful of teams that have interest in Durant. They key is this, he has one year left on his contract. Is he going to want to sign an extension and is he going to want to be part of the process in a trade and are the Suns going to let him be?'
ESPN's Brian Windhorst on Kevin Durant trade
The 36-year-old Durant will surely want to sign with a contending team. Moreso, he'll want to land in a place that could become his final destination in the NBA, knowing contract discussions will be taking place in the near future.
Thus, a team like the Knicks would make a lot of sense. Not only are they in a massive market that can take advantage of Durant's superstardom, they'll be a playoff contender for multiple years. Yet, the Knicks are far from the only team that makes sense for Durant this summer.
Other teams that have been loosely linked to a Durant trade include the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. The Timberwolves have their built-in Anthony Edwards connection with Durant after the two won a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics, yet, the idea of playing with Victor Wembanyama has to be intriguing too.

Ultimately, as Windhorst mentioned, it could come down to whether Durant has any say on where he'll be traded to next.

The news Thursday about the abrupt scrubbing of the meet, scheduled for the last weekend in June at Drake Stadium, combines with USA Track and Field's earlier decision to take an event set for earlier in June — the LA Grand Prix — off the calendar.

Patrick Reed hits the rarest of shots — an albatross — at the U.S. Open
PGA Tour Patrick Reed hits the rarest of shots — an albatross — at the U.S. Open Updated Jun. 12, 2025 4:15 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Patrick Reed made only the fourth double-eagle since the U.S. Open started keeping records some four decades ago, dunking in his second shot from 286 yards Thursday on the par-5 fourth hole at Oakmont. The so-called albatross is considered the rarest shot in golf, with only a few hundred being made a year across the world, compared to more than 30,000 holes-in-one. Reed looked stunned after he hit a fairway wood onto the green, watched it bounce three times and then roll toward the hole. Unsure of where the ball went, he raised his palm to the sky, then pointed downward, asking if it went in. The applause up at the green gave him the answer. The 2018 Masters champion joins T.C. Chen (1985 at Oakland Hills), Shaun Micheel (2010 at Pebble Beach) and Nick Watney (2012 at the Olympics) as the only players to make an albatross at the U.S. Open since the event started keeping records in 1983. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Offers Major Update on TJ Watt Minicamp Holdout
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Pittsburgh Steelers have wrapped up their minicamp, but they did so without the presence of star pass rusher T.J. Watt. Watt held out of minicamp, as he waits for a well-deserved contract extension. More news: Jets' Sauce Gardner Makes Decision on Flag Football Olympics Involvement Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has spoken many times about the holdout, but now that the team's minicamp has wrapped up, he has offered a major update on the situation. #Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, on the TJ Watt situation now that minicamp has ended: 'I'm optimistic we're going to get things done because we got two sides that want to get things done. When that's going to occur… I do not know.' — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 12, 2025 Tomlin spoke to reporters, which was shared by NFL insider Ian Rapoport. According to Tomlin: "I'm optimistic we're going to get things done because we got two sides that want to get things done. When that's going to occur... I do not know." Tomlin revealed that not only does he believe that a new extension is going to happen, but that both sides are eager to get the extension done. The only worrisome aspect of his update is timing. 40. Watt, Linebacker, Pittsburgh news: Missouri Approves Millions to Keep Chiefs From Relocating Watt has already missed minicamp, and it is believed that he would also hold out of training camp until he gets his new deal. What is T.J. Watt's current contract? Watt famously held out all summer in 2021, as he waited for a new deal. That deal would come in the form of a four-year, $112 million extension, which made him the highest-paid pass rusher at the time. As the years passed, many more quarterback terrorizers would get better contracts, until the Cleveland Browns gave Myles Garrett a monster market-resetting deal. Garrett was awarded a four-year, $160 million extension, giving him an annual figure of $40 million. What are T.J. Watt's Stats? Watt is arguably a better defender than Garrett, and has edged him in total sacks over the last five seasons. Garrett has secured 72 sacks since the 2020 season, while Watt has secured 73.5. Considering both pass rushers are the proverbial cream of the crop in their respective positions, the Steelers are likely going to have to offer Watt a similar deal as Garrett received. Watt is one of the most important players the Steelers have on the defense and the team as a whole. He has also been in this situation before, so the organization knows the lengths he will go to to ensure he gets paid what he believes that he deserves. The Steelers also need to be quick about this extension; otherwise, they will have to engage in training camp without their superstar.
