Walmart recalls item they warn to 'dispose of immediately' after reports of burn injuries
The grocery giant has been forced to recalled the MaxKare Electric Blankets after the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received reports from consumers that the blankets had overheated, caught fire and caused serious burn injuries.
The blankets, available in brown and gray, were sold exclusively online by Walmart between June 2021 and November 2024.
They came in twin, full, queen sizes costing between $27 to $80.
The roughly 8,500 items effected by the recall notice will bear the model numbers HB18A-7284-1, HB18A-8490-2 or HB18A-6284-1 which can be found on the blanket's label.
The retailer has urged anyone who bought the effected products to dispose of them immediately.
Those that wish to seek refunds can contact the blanket's manufacturer Shenzhen Yumo Commerce.
'Walmart and Sam's Club are committed to the health and safety of our customers and members and to providing products that are safe and compliant, all supported by our health and wellness, product safety, and food safety professionals,' the retailer said in a statement regarding the latest recall.
'In the event of a product recall, we work swiftly to block the item from being sold and remove it from our stores and clubs.'
It comes as federal officials announced they have launched an investigation into the deaths of three people and a pregnancy loss connected to ready meals sold at retail giants Walmart and Kroger.
Food distributor FreshRealm announced earlier this week that it would be recalling its chicken fettuccine alfredo products over listeria concerns.
The US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is now investigating the outbreak, which has sickened 17 people in 13 states.
The affected products include 32.8oz and 12.3oz trays of Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettucine pasta with best-by dates of June 26 and 27, 2025.
Also included in the recall is 12.5oz trays of Home Chef Heat & Eat Chicken Fettucine Alfredo pasta with a best-by date of June 19,2025 or before.
The meals are sold nationwide at Walmart, under the Marketside brand, and Kroger, under the Home Chef brand.
A listeria infection usually causes fever, headache and diarrhea in most people, but it can be deadly for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and those with weak immune systems.

Earlier this year Walmart was forced to recall its Marketside celery sticks from stores in 29 states over possible listeria contamination.
The issue was discovered during a random sampling by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
A month later Walmart was also embroiled in another mass recall of canned tuna over a potentially fatal food poisoning risk.
Tri-Union Seafoods announced the recall after its supplier informed the company that the cans' 'easy open' pull tab lids have a manufacturing defect.

Novo Nordisk's Wegovy gets accelerated US approval for liver disease MASH
Aug 15 (Reuters) - Novo Nordisk ( opens new tab said on Friday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had granted accelerated approval for its weight-loss drug Wegovy to treat a serious liver condition known as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis. The decision makes Wegovy the first GLP-1 class therapy cleared for MASH, a progressive liver condition that affects around 5% of adults in the U.S., according to the American Liver Foundation. The approval is for use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. The FDA's approval was based on part 1 of a two-part study that showed Wegovy helped more patients with MASH and liver scarring improve the organ's condition, compared to a placebo. At 72 weeks, nearly 37% of patients on Wegovy saw an improvement in liver fibrosis, compared to 22.4% on placebo. Nearly 63% of those on Wegovy had their liver inflammation resolved, versus 34.3% for placebo. No worsening of the disease was seen in these patients. Accelerated approvals allow the agency to move therapies that target serious and life-threatening conditions to the market more quickly. However, such approvals have been criticized because some drugs have later been proven to be ineffective.

WWE legend Mick Foley's daughter reveals she sustained life-changing injuries after rollercoaster accident
The daughter of WWE icon Mick Foley has revealed that she suffered a rare neck injury more than five years ago that has left her with headaches ever since. Noelle Foley, 31, explained how she was left with the long-term problem after riding a rollercoaster at the Dollywood theme park. Speaking on the ' Rulebreakers' podcast, Foley explained how her neck was injured after the ride 'went up, down, and immediately went back up.' 'My head hit really hard, and something happened with my neck, but I didn't know what happened,' Foley said, as reported by Fox News. The daughter of the retired wrestler said that it had been a 'huge mystery' why she was experiencing a headache for so long - until she was finally diagnosed with a rare neck issue. 'It took me about two months to realize I had a concussion. I'm like, 'This headache is not going away, and I'm so sensitive to lights and sounds and I feel all weird,' she said. 'And I was asking my dad, who you would think would know a lot about concussions, but he was like, 'Sorry, I don't really know.' 'I feel like his concussions, boom, they happen, and he's like OK. But he never really had a concussion that lasted longer than maybe a couple months. I've been to around 50 doctors, between doctors and physical therapists. It's just been a mystery. 'It wasn't until I really started digging that I started getting answers and feeling better,; she continued. 'I found out I have a rare neck condition called cranioservical instability, and they found that out from a digital motion X-ray.' '... So, they found out I tore about 10 ligaments in my neck, and because of those torn ligaments, it causes my neck to be unstable and my head isn't securely on my neck then all your other muscles are overcompensating. So, those muscles are probably causing the headaches.' Noelle previously trained to be a WWE wrestler like her dad, but has remained around the sport as a content creator and influencer. Foley, meanwhile, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023 as he was honored ahead of Wrestlemania 29. He was involved in a serious car accident in April but thankfully was able to walk away without suffering any serious injuries. 'I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he was able to walk away from THAT car, but I am so incredibly thankful he was able to,' Noelle wrote afterwards. ''Thank you so much to everyone who's reached out. It means so much to u.'
