JKSM applauds Pakistan's victory

Express Tribune12-05-2025

The Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) has extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Pakistan and its armed forces on resolute and dignified victory against Indian aggression, calling the development a testament to the nation's courage, unity and resilience.
In a statement issued on behalf of JKSM and the people of Kashmir, spokesperson Dr Irfan Khan praised the valour and professionalism of the Pakistani military.
He expressed particular appreciation for Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the military leadership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and all political parties for their united stance and strategic handling of the escalation with India.
Dr Khan noted that the collective response reflected a mature and responsible approach that balanced the pursuit of peace with a firm defence of national sovereignty and the rights of Kashmiris.
JKSM welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire, calling it a much-needed step toward de-escalation and a source of relief for the populations affected along the Line of Control (LoC).
However, the group stressed that the ceasefire must serve as a foundation for meaningful political dialogue, one that includes the voices of the Kashmiri people.
The spokesperson also lauded Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry for his unequivocal recognition of Kashmir as the central issue between Pakistan and India.
Dr Khan said the DG ISPR's assertion that lasting peace in the region was unattainable without resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiris resonates deeply with JKSM's longstanding position.
"This candid recognition underscores the persistent centrality of the Kashmir issue in South Asian geopolitics and reaffirms the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination," Dr Khan said.
"It is a clarion call to the international community to acknowledge and act upon the imperative of a just and peaceful resolution to this protracted conflict."
Reiterating JKSM's unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri cause, he urged all stakeholders to engage in inclusive dialogue anchored in justice, mutual respect and the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Any sustainable peace in the region, he argued, must begin with honouring the will of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and implementing relevant UNSC resolutions.
Dr Khan stressed that Kashmiris must be active participants in all negotiations and peace processes, warning that bypassing their voice would render any resolution both unjust and unsustainable.
He further cautioned that peace in South Asia is "inextricably linked" to peace in Kashmir.
Referring to the five-day escalation between Pakistan and India, he said the episode once again exposed the region's vulnerability and underscored that Kashmir was not merely a territorial dispute but was a nuclear flashpoint.
"The stakes are too high to ignore. Silence or inaction by the international community risks destabilising the entire region," he warned.
JKSM called upon peace-loving nations, international organisations and human rights bodies to play an active role in urging India to end its occupation, repeal draconian measures imposed on Kashmiris and facilitate a free and fair expression of the Kashmiri people's political will under international supervision.

Trump willing to mediate Kashmir dispute after India-Pakistan ceasefire: US State Dept

The United States said President Donald Trump would like to mediate between India and Pakistan on the issue of Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce was asked about the president's offer to mediate after the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. 'What I do know is that I think we all recognize that President Trump in each step that he takes, it's made to solve generational differences between countries, generational war. 'So it doesn't – it shouldn't surprise anyone that he'd want to manage something like that. He seems very much to be – and not just seems but he is – has been the only one to bring certain people to the table to have conversations that nobody thought was possible,' she replied. She said while she cannot speak to any details, it was an exciting time that 'if we can get to a point in that particular conflict, thank God but also thank Secretary Rubio and President Trump and the Vice President'. Meanwhile, the spokesperson also confirmed a Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met with senior State Department officials, including Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker. Without giving details, Bruce said the talks covered counterterrorism cooperation and US support for the India-Pakistan ceasefire.

Bilawal rejects India's unsubstantiated, politically- motivated allegations

LONDON: The head of Pakistan's parliamentary delegation, visiting United Kingdom, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has again categorically rejected the baseless Indian allegations levelled against Pakistan without credible investigation or verifiable evidence in backdrop of Pahalgam incident. He was briefing the All Party Parliamentary Group on Pakistan during a meeting hosted by the Pakistan Chair and Member of British parliament Yasmin Qureshi at Westminster Palace in London. The meeting was also attended by the cross-party British parliamentarians. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted that Indian attack on civilian population, violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and unilateral holding in abeyance of the Indus Water Treaty - in blatant violation of the international law and modern rules-based system - could have dangerous consequence for the regional and international peace and security. The attention was drawn to what it described as India's 'unsubstantiated and politically motivated allegations' following the Pahalgam incident. Bhutto said India had 'levelled serious accusations against Pakistan without any credible investigation or verifiable evidence,' adding that Islamabad 'categorically rejected these baseless claims'. 'These actions by India are not just irresponsible, but pose serious risks to peace and stability in South Asia and beyond,' he said. The delegation is a part of Pakistan ongoing diplomatic outreach to the international community on the deteriorating region security situation due to Indian aggression against Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari briefed the parliamentarians of the repercussions of the Indian aggression and violations of the Pakistan's sovereignty after the Pahalgam incident, without justification on the basis of investigation or inquiry. In his remarks, Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordina-tion, Musadik Malik, apprised the parliamentarians of the environmental hazards of holding the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance by India, threats to food security and survival of 240 million population of Pakistan, primarily an agrarian economy. The delegation emphasized that Pakistan response to Indian aggression was calibrated, responsible and fully consistent with international law, including the right to self-defence under Article-51 of the United Nations Charter. The delegation underscored Pakistan commitment to restraint, revival of the Indus water Treaty and initiation of a composite dialogue between the two countries on all outstanding issues, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The APPG meeting chair Ms Qureshi reaffirmed the importance of sustained parliamentary dialogue on human rights and regional peace, and lauded the Pakistani delegation's efforts to keep UK lawmakers informed on developments in South Asia. The briefing comes at a time of heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, with Pakistan expressing concern over what it sees as India's attempts to unilaterally alter regional dynamics through aggressive military and diplomatic postures. The Pakistani delegation urged the international community, particularly the UK, to play a proactive role in de-escalating tensions and ensuring adherence to international norms.
