PETA to sell 'kitten cakes' and 'fresh local Siamese' at seafood festival
The animal rights organisation is protesting against the Lymington Seafood Festival on Friday, July 11, by selling "locally caught tabbies," "fresh local Siamese" and "kitten cakes" at the event.
The "provocative" display aims to "challenge people's speciesism" and "highlight that cats and crabs are the same in all the ways that matter."
PETA senior campaigns manager, Kate Werner, said: "Crabs and other marine animals feel pain and terror just as cats and dogs do.
"PETA urges anyone horrified by the thought of tucking into a tabby to extend that compassion to all animals and please, go vegan."
A "kittenmonger" will be attending the event at Bath Road Park in Lymington to sell the "kitten cakes" at the entrance from 12.45pm.
PETA is hoping to make people aware of the industry behind the meals, claiming that "live lobsters and crabs were impaled, torn apart and decapitated" at a crustacean abattoir.
The charity also states that "chefs typically place live lobsters in pots of boiling water while they're still conscious" and that "every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year."

What we know as MasterChef's John Torode addresses racist language claim
John Torode has identified himself as the person accused of using racist language in the MasterChef report. MasterChef production company Banijay UK commissioned law firm Lewis Silkin to do a report into the historic behaviour of presenter Gregg Wallace on the show. Wallace said he was "deeply sorry for any distress caused" and he "never set out to harm or humiliate" after the report found 45 out of 83 allegations were upheld. The "majority of the substantiated allegations against Mr Wallace related to inappropriate sexual language and humour", the report found. Wallace's return to MasterChef is "untenable", it concluded. There were two standalone allegations against other people that emerged in the report. MasterChef presenter Torode said there is an allegation that he made a remark using racist language in 2018 or 2019 and that he apologised immediately after. He added: "I do not believe that it happened." The Sun claimed Torode was asked to resign and to blame mental health, but he refused. The TV chef has been a presenter on MasterChef since 2005. BBC News reported that "BBC insiders distanced themselves from that claim" on Monday night. Yahoo UK has reached out to John Torode and BBC representatives for comment. Torode has said he is "shocked and saddened" by the allegation. In a statement, he wrote on Instagram on Monday night: "Following publication of the Executive Summary of the Investigation into Gregg Wallace while working on MasterChef, I am aware of speculation that I am one of the two other individuals against whom an allegation has been upheld. "For the sake of transparency, I can confirm that I am the individual who is alleged to have used racial language on one occasion. The allegation is that I did so sometime in 2018 or 2019 in a social situation, and that the person I was speaking with did not believe that it was intended in a malice way and that I apologised immediately afterwards. "I have absolutely no recollection of any of this and I do not believe that it happened. However, I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment. I'm shocked and saddened by the allegation as I would never wish to cause anyone any offence." BBC has yet to confirm whether Grace Dent will replace Wallace on the main MasterChef series. Dent was announced as Wallace's replacement on Celebrity MasterChef while he stepped aside for the investigation last year. Filming for the reality series has now wrapped, but it has yet to air on TV. She said: "I've been watching MasterChef since I was a girl sitting with my dad on the sofa. My whole family watches it. It's all about uncovering and championing talent – and to have ended up in this position, is more than a dream to me. "I'm so excited that I can't eat, which is severely detrimental to a restaurant critic. I feel very lucky to be stepping in for the next Celebrity MasterChef. I can't wait to meet the fresh celebrity faces for 2025." It also remains unknown whether Dent will step into the same role on MasterChef: The Professionals. In the wake of the MasterChef report, Wallace has said he is "deeply sorry for any distress caused" and that it was "never intended". He said, "For eight months, my family and I have lived under a cloud. Trial by media, fuelled by rumour and clickbait. "None of the serious allegations against me were upheld. I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching but have had to accept a difference in perception, and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. It was never intended. "I'm relieved that the Banijay report fully recognises that my behaviour changed profoundly in 2018. Some of my humour and language missed the mark. I never set out to harm or humiliate. I always tried to bring warmth and support to MasterChef, on screen and off. "After nearly 20 years on the show, I now see that certain patterns, shaped by traits I've only recently begun to understand, may have been misread. I also accept that more could have been done, by others and by myself, to address concerns earlier.' "A late autism diagnosis has helped me understand how I communicate and how I'm perceived. I'm still learning." He added: "To those who've shown kindness, thank you. It mattered. This has been brutal. For a working-class man with a direct manner, modern broadcasting has become a dangerous place. I was the headline this time. But I won't be the last... "There will be more casualties if the BBC continues down this path, where protecting its legacy matters more than protecting people. For my part, with full legal support, I will consider my next move."

Prince Harry and King Charles' top aides secretly meet in bid to mend royal rift: report
As the rift between Prince Harry and King Charles lll continues to seemingly intensify, senior aides from both sides reportedly met in an effort to begin restoring the broken relationship. According to The Mail on Sunday, Meredith Maines — the Duke of Sussex's chief of staff and communications director — flew from Montecito, Calif. to London to meet with King Charles' communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae, on Wednesday. Liam Maguire, who oversees U.K. press for Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, was also present. "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years," a source told The Mail. "There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about." The informal meeting was reportedly held at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private members' club. KING CHARLES, PRINCE HARRY'S PAINFUL FEUD 'DAMAGING' MONARCH'S REIGN AS GUTTED SON REMAINS FURIOUS: EXPERT The source said the meeting was only the "first step towards reconciliation between Harry and his father, but at least it is a step in the right direction." "Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk," the source added. Fox News Digital has learned that Maines was in London to meet with the UK-based communications team, media, stakeholders and senior figures connected to the Duke's patronages. The visit was entirely routine and part of ongoing planning and engagement. KING CHARLES' RIFT WITH PRINCE HARRY DEEPENS AS QUEEN CAMILLA REFUSES TO INTERVENE: EXPERTS Representatives for Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. The peace summit comes weeks after Harry told the BBC that he'd "love reconciliation" with his family. "There's no point in continuing to fight anymore," he said. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER The rift between Prince Harry and King Charles ignited after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal exit as senior members in 2020. After their move to California, the couple began to air their grievances in interviews and documentaries. Harry's 2023 memoir, which detailed embarrassing revelations about the House of Windsor, only worsened tensions with his family. In televised interviews to promote the book , Harry accused his stepmother, Queen Camilla, of leaking private conversations to the media to burnish her own reputation. He accused members of the royal family of getting "into bed with the devil" to gain favorable tabloid coverage, singling out Camilla's efforts to rehabilitate her image with the public after her longtime affair with his father. "That made her dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press," Harry told CBS. "There was open willingness on both sides to trade information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being queen consort, there was going to be people or bodies left in the street." LIKE WHAT YOU'RE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner recently told Fox News Digital that Harry's comments about Camilla were a major blow to the king and likely one of the reasons why he iced his son out. "It is well known that King Charles can become very upset and hot under the collar," said Pelham Turner. "Certainly, Charles is upset about remarks made … about Camilla. She has used the code of silence on the subject, similar to her own experiences while there were three in the marriage, as stated by Princess Diana." CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told recently People magazine that there has been a desire to reconnect on Charles's side, but "the underlying issue is trust." "The king and Prince William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation," she said. Insiders told the outlet that William, in particular, "has shown no interest in extending an olive branch." Fox News Digital's Stephanie Nolasco and Ashley Papa contributed to this post.
