Suniel Shetty gives message of national unity in the wake of Pahalgam attack
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has a message on national unity for the people of the country after the cowardly attack in Pahalgam, last week by the terrorists.
The actor, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film 'Kesari Veer', spoke with IANS, and gave a call to the fellow countrymen to stand united, and keep the differences aside.
He equated the film's message as the current requirement on behalf of the country's citizens as the film also deals with the attack led by the Tughlaq Empire where locals fought the invading forces to protect the Somnath Temple and the Hindu faith.
Suniel told IANS, 'The message in the end is very clear, that the country is above anything else. People coming together, simple people from different walks of life, who come together to fight for one cause, and that is evil. And that's the way we should be thinking even today. We should not let hatred, and fear take over. But let your combined strength and our values take over and show the world that we are one. And we never would be disturbed'.
He further cited the example of the attacks of 26/11 when armed Pakistani terrorists entered India's economic engine, Mumbai through its coast, and reigned open terror on its people before they were neutralised by the National Security Guard across a 3-day operation.
The actor told IANS, 'It happened earlier as well, 26/11 happened but, Mumbai got up the very next day, saluting all the people who lost their lives, saluting all the people in uniform who lost their lives. We're more vigilant now, we're more aware now. I think that's the message that our film 'Kesari Veer' also gives. Our values, relationships, our culture, our gods, our goddesses are something we deeply revere'.
Earlier, a video of the actor from Kashmir went viral on social media, in which he was seen urging the people of India to not turn their backs on Kashmir, and turn up in droves to support the economy through tourism.
As per the Economic Survey report of Jammu and Kashmir, the state witnessed an annual footfall of 3.26 crore tourists, with tourism accounting for more than INR 18, 000 crore.

As Pakistan fails to get into ‘expected' UNSC panels, India in talks with friends
India is working with its partners and friends on the UN Security Council to blunt Pakistan's moves, as Islamabad has been appointed to key counter-terror committees at the UNSC. Sources in New York told The Indian Express that Pakistan demanded to be the chair of the 1267 Sanctions Committee; 1540 (Non-Proliferation) Sanctions Committee; 1988 (Taliban) Committee and Chair of the 1373 Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC). Sources said the allocation of positions 'should have been undertaken by January 2025'. It is learnt that a 'lack of consensus and unreasonable demands' by Pakistan prevented a consensus being formed till June 2025. 'The Council members were not happy with this … attitude depicted by the Pakistan,' a source said. Pakistan had to be satisfied with 'only one full Chairship' — Chair of the 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee [Russia and Guyana are the Vice-Chairs], sources said . The other positions are Vice-Chair of the 1373 CTC [along with France and Russia]; Sanctions Informal Working Group (IWG) [Co-Chair with Greece] and Documentation IWG [Co-chair with Denmark.] 'The… positions allocated to Pakistan is far below its… aspirations,' the source said. India also chaired the same 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee during its UNSC 2021-22 term along with the Chair of the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee. Sources said the position of Vice-Chair of 1373 CTC which Pakistan was allocated is 'not something very substantive'. 'It is… more ceremonial in nature. Pakistan… has not been able to get its way. India was the Chair of the 1373 CTC in 2022. India had earlier also, during its 2011-12 UNSC term, chaired the 1373 CTC.' For the first time in the history of the UNSC, an IWG will have two co-Chairs. This can be interpreted as a move by the Council to rein in Pakistan. Despite the Pakistani delegation's visit to the UN, the result is not something Pakistan will be happy with. This reflects Pakistan's standing and credibility in the UN, sources said. Sources said all the major terrorist attacks and networks have their origins in Pakistan. Some examples are: Sources said Pakistan's role as a state sponsor of terrorism is well known. 'Out of around 254 individuals and 89 entities designated in the 1267 Sanctions Committee (Al-Qaeda and ISIL), Pakistan has the unrivalled distinction of over 50 individuals and entities linked to it designated in the 1267 Sanctions Committee… it is Pakistan which is at unease… that more of its nationals and entities will be added to the Sanctions Committees/Regimes.' BJP's Amit Malviya slams TMC's Firhad Hakim for 'vile' remarks against PM Modi over Op Sindoor
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): BJP leader Amit Malviya on Saturday hit out at Kolkata Mayor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Firhad Hakim for making what he called a 'vile and disgraceful attack' on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Operation Sindoor. He accused Hakim of calling the PM a 'coward' and dismissing his role in the operation. In a post on X, Malviya shared a video in which Hakim could be seen allegedly stating, 'There is nothing big about the Prime Minister here... But, for fear of a bigger country, he has locked up the Armed Forces as cowards.' Malviya further accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of instructing Hakim to say such things to the Prime Minister. He noted that the rhetoric was similar to what a 'Pakistani politician' would say to belittle India and its government, and that such remarks expose the mindset of such leaders who spread hate above the national interest. UBT flays Sena over Durgadi temple visit curbs on Eid
Kalyan: Members from both Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde and UBT factions held separate protests near Durgadi fort in Kalyan on Saturday. The fort houses religious sites for both Hindus and Muslims. During Bakr Eid, Muslim worshippers gather in large numbers to pray at the fort's Idgah section. Consequently, Hindu devotees are restricted from entering the Durga temple located at the fort's front to maintain peace. On Saturday, police prevented both Sena factions from crossing the barricades near the fort. The Sena UBT's up neta Vijay Salvi criticised Shiv Sena, noting that while the Ghanta Naad movement was initiated by Anand Dighe in 1982, with deputy CM Eknath Shinde leading it for many years, the state administration has now been restricting devotee entry despite his positions as CM and deputy CM showing duplicity on Hindutva."
