Brazilian trade delegation to visit Kingdom this year — JCC
AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) have agreed to organise a visit for a Brazilian trade delegation to Jordan this summer, in coordination with Jordanian embassy in Brazil.
During his videoconference meeting with Jordanian Ambassador to Brazil Maan Masaadah and ABCC Secretary-General Mohammad Murad, JCC Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq said that the Jordanian chamber is "ready" to receive the Brazilian trade delegation and facilitate its mission and hold joint meetings with the Jordanian trade sector.
He noted that the JCC could arrange the delegates' visits to a number of government institutions and Jordanian companies, and invite Arab businesspeople, whether from Arab countries or residents in the Kingdom, to attend these discussions for the benefit of all, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Haj Tawfiq said that the visit would be an opportunity to enhance Jordanian-Brazilian economic relations, explore investment opportunities and build partnerships and trade cooperation in targeted sectors.
The JCC chairman stressed the importance of enhancing mutual trade exchange and expanding the base of joint investments.
Dialogues with the Jordanian commercial sector will play a "major" role in enhancing opportunities for cooperation and developing joint business, he pointed out.
He highlighted the importance of framing the bilateral economic relations, expanding cooperation in various economic sectors, developing trade collaboration areas, establishing joint partnerships and investments and opening further bridges.
The chairman also pointed out the need to highlight the Kingdom's "strategic" location as a link between Arab and global markets.
Haj Tawfiq announced that Jordanian-Brazilian exports and imports grew by 17 per cent last year, expressing the Jordanian commercial sector's interest in some Brazilian goods, especially wood, foodstuff, textiles and the ICT sector, while Brazil also seeks to increase its imports of medicines and fertilisers

Employment and Investment Impact According to the Chamber's statement, the construction industries sector is also considered a key driver of job creation in the Kingdom. It provides approximately 15,400 direct jobs across more than 2,200 industrial enterprises, with a total registered capital reaching 269 million dinars. Strategic Importance and Future Outlook The Chamber stressed the importance of continuing to support this vital sector and including it among the strategic priorities in the upcoming phase, particularly in light of neighboring countries' reconstruction efforts, which present valuable opportunities for Jordanian industry.

Extension of Jordan-Iraq Electricity Supply Agreement The Director General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Dr. Sofian Al-Batainah, announced on Sunday that Jordan and Iraq have agreed to extend the electricity supply agreement from the Jordanian grid to Iraq for one more year. اضافة اعلان In a press statement following his meeting in Amman with the Director General of the General Company for Electricity Transmission / Central Region in Iraq, Eng. Riyadh Areibi, and the accompanying delegation, Al-Batainah explained that the extension was made at the request of the Iraqi side. The new agreement extends the contract for supplying electricity from NEPCO to the General Company for Electricity Transmission in Iraq to feed the Rutba area, for an additional year or until the 400 kV Jordan-Iraq interconnection line is electrified. The current supply contract will now remain valid until September 27, 2025. During the meeting, which was held at NEPCO headquarters, the Jordanian side confirmed its full readiness to electrify the 400 kV interconnection line from the Risha Substation. On their part, the Iraqi delegation expressed expectations that all project-related work on the 400 kV infrastructure on the Iraqi side will be completed within six months from the date of the meeting. Dr. Al-Batainah emphasized that both countries are working towards energizing the Jordan-Iraq power interconnection and commencing supply at 400 kV. This step is considered a precursor to activating synchronous interconnection between the two countries. Gov't launches sectoral sessions to draft Economic Modernization Vision program
Ammon News - Building on workshops hosted last month at the Royal Hashemite Court to review progress in phase one of the Economic Modernization Vision (2023–2025), the Prime Ministry will launch a series of sector-specific sessions from Saturday, Aug. 23, through Saturday, Sept. 6, with participation from public and private-sector representatives and subject-matter experts.
