Ludhiana: ₹30-k dispute, Jagraon man poisons his friend to death
A Jagraon resident allegedly poisoned one of his friends to death following a dispute over ₹30,000 in Village Sherpur Kalan of Jagraon on Wednesday. After administering poison, the accused dropped the victim outside his home and fled. The Sadar Jagraon police lodged a murder case against the accused identified as Yadwinder Singh alias Yada.
The victim has been identified as Kamalpreet Singh, 23, of Sherpur Kalan. Kulwant Singh, father of the victim, stated that his son Kamalpreet Singh had borrowed ₹30,000 from the accused to buy an iPhone, but failed to return in time as promised. The accused Yadwinder Singh had been threatening him for a long time for money.
Kulwant Singh stated that on Wednesday the accused turned up at their home and left with Kamalpreet Singh on a bike. After some time, the accused returned and fled immediately after dropping Kamalpreet Singh outside the home, who died minutes later. He alleged that the accused administered poison to his son.
Inspector Surjit Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Sadar Jagraon police station, confirmed dispute over ₹30,000 between the two friends. According to him, after Kamalpreet failed to return the money, Yadwinder had approached his parents, who refused to intervene stating that he had not taken them in confidence before lending money to Kamalpreet Singh, which irked him.
The SHO added that the accused has been captured in the CCTVs taking Kamalpreet Singh on his bike and later dropping him at home. A murder case has been lodged against the accused and a hunt is on for his arrest.
Kamalpreet's father is a class four employee in the education department, while his mother is a teacher. He was the eldest among three siblings and was looking for a job after completing graduation. Meanwhile, Yadwinder is the son of a farmer and has returned from Dubai a couple of months ago.

Bengaluru: In one of the biggest drug busts in recent times, a 25-year-old Nigerian was arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths when she was trying to sell MDMA crystals weighing over 5.3kg, and valued at around Rs 10.5 crore, near Rajanukunte. Rakshith alerted his seniors, including assistant commissioner of police Mahananda HK, who formed a special team to nab the peddler. When cops rushed to Tarahunase village, they found a woman with a bag seemingly waiting for someone. After confirming she was the peddler flagged by the informant, police detained her around 4pm. When police asked her to show her bag, she didn't cooperate initially. Eventually, she confessed she had come to New Delhi in Oct 2021 using a student visa. She claimed she wanted to get admission at a private deemed-to-be university, but when she didn't get a proper response from the college, she didn't enrol and started working as a hairdresser and pedicurist in the national capital. As she was unable to earn enough to lead a lavish life, she went into the drug peddling business. She allegedly met another Nigerian woman named Asa, who instructed her to take drugs to Bengaluru by bus and hand them over to someone. Accordingly, Princess packed the MDMA crystal in packets and reached Bengaluru on June 10. While she was waiting for Asa's message about the man to whom she was supposed to hand over the drugs, she was caught by cops. Woman, aide arrested for robbing in-laws in Khanna
A woman and her aide were arrested for allegedly plotted a theft in her own in-laws' home. The woman, a resident of Kulahad village in Khanna, drugged the whole family, stealing cash and jewellery from the house. According to police officials, Kamaljeet Kaur befriended Dilraj Singh, alias Bholu, a resident of Peer Sohana in Mohali, through Instagram. Dilraj had recently returned to India from Malaysia. What started as an online friendship soon turned into an affair, and the two began planning a future together, including marriage. Kamaljeet allegedly devised a criminal plan to fund their life together—by robbing her own family. Khanna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jyoti Yadav stated that Kamaljeet deliberately drugged nearly 15 members of her family late at night on June 3, rendering them unconscious. She then invited her aide into the house, handing over the keys to cupboards and trunks. Dilraj allegedly looted gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs, along with a high-end iPhone, and fled the scene. The complaint was lodged by Kamaljeet's father-in-law, Balwinder Singh, at Malaudh police station the same night. Initially, the case was registered against unknown accused. However, the truth soon unraveled with the help of technical surveillance and CCTV footage. The SSP confirmed that both accused have confessed to their crimes. 'The conspiracy was well thought out and clearly premeditated,' she said. 'Kamaljeet not only betrayed the trust of her family but also endangered the lives of her relatives by allegedly administering an unknown substance to render them unconscious. This was not a spontaneous act, but a calculated criminal plan.' During the interrogation, Kamaljeet reportedly admitted she wished to elope and marry Dilraj after the theft. Their plans, however, were thwarted by prompt police action. The stolen items recovered from the accused include 11 gold rings, four pairs of earrings, a gold necklace, a bangle, and several silver ornaments. The stolen iPhone has also been seized.

Punjab: Teenage girl arrested for bludgeoning fiancé to death in Batala
A teenage girl along with her mother and a few of the associates have been arrested for bludgeoning her fiancé to death and then burying his body in the compound of the house in Batala town, police officials said on Monday. The girl and her fiancé are both 17 years of age and studied in the same school located on the Batala-Gurdaspur road. Both got engaged in April, the police sources, privy to the probe, said. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir said the girl, who initially ran away after committing the crime, her mother and their associates have been arrested. 'The girl, her mother Charanjit Kaur and their associates have been arrested for this cold-blooded murder. Search for others is on. A total of nine persons have been nominated in the FIR registered in the civil lines police station under section 103 (murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other relevant sections. We are not disclosing the names of the associates as investigations are still going on. Once all are arrested, the police will name them,' the SSP said. On June 1, the boy left his home located in proximity to the girl's house on Bhullar road but did not return. The police exhumed the body from the house of the girl on Sunday, after which the post-mortem was conducted. According to the deceased family's complaint, the boy often visited the house of her fiancée. As both were minors the families were waiting for them to turn adults before getting them married. 'On June 1, he left home to meet her. When he didn't return, I visited the girl's house to enquire about my son's whereabouts. I was overwhelmed by an unbearable stench when I went to their house. I immediately suspected foul play and informed the police about the matter,' the mother of the victim said. After being informed, the police quizzed the girl's mother who confessed to the crime. 'They had dug up an 8-foot-deep pit in the compound of their house to bury the body. It looks like a pre-planned murder. The deceased took ₹1.25 lakh for some personal work from his family. He purchased an iPhone and the remaining amount he handed over to the girl. One of the reasons behind the murder was that the girl was in a relationship with another boy. She and her mother wanted to get rid of her fiancé. The second reason was the money she had borrowed from the boy. The boy was asking her to return the money. So, the girl and her mother conspired to eliminate him,' the SSP added. The victim's grandfather said before the engagement, they had told the girl's family that they hailed from the Christian community and there could be problems in the relations in future due to inter-religious marriage. 'However, the girl's family never objected once and went ahead with the rituals of the engagement citing that this is normal these days', he added.
