Gunmen riding Citi Bikes shot two people in the Bronx — kicking off a spat of violence that stretched across three boroughs, cops said.
A man, 32, was blasted in the torso at East 146th Street and Brook Avenue by two males on one Citi Bike, cops said.
About 15 minutes later, a woman, 35, was shot in the leg when gunfire rang out near Westchester Aveue and Third Avenue in Mott Haven around 9:20 p.m., cops said. Police were looking for two males riding separate Citi Bikes in that incident, according to cops.
It wasn't immediately clear if the two incidents were related or if the victims were intended targets, police said. Both were taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
Investigators were out at the scenes canvassing for video, cops said.
The woman was an innocent bystander, said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.
'She was walking home, as she came into the building she got hit,' the neighbor said. 'She is ok. She got home from the hospital.'
Gunshots are familiar fare in the neighborhood, another resident said.
'I live on the 18th floor. I heard three gunshots. One, two, three,' said Jess Fernandez, 69. 'I don't know who got shot. But it happens all the time.'
Later, a man was shot at West 146th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard in Harlem around 1:30 a.m., cops said.
When police arrived at the scene, they were told the victim, 41, had already left. They found him at Harlem Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said.
The victim was in stable condition early Saturday. The motive was unknown.
Nearly three hours later, a man was shot once in the back around 4 a.m. at Steinway Street and Astoria Boulevard in Astoria, Queens, police said. The 25-year-old was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
The number of shooting incidents is down from 217 to 178 so far this year, when compared to the same period last year and shooting victims decreased from 256 to 209, an 18% drop, according to NYPD data.

NYPD warns its working ‘feverishly' to thwart antisemitism after spate of nationwide attacks

The NYPD is working 'feverishly' to thwart would-be perps from unleashing terror in the Big Apple following a spate of antisemitic attacks in Washington, DC and Colorado, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch warned Wednesday. New York's Finest are working with the FBI and have increased patrols at scores of Jewish sites across the city in the wake of the recent high-profile attacks, the commish said. 'Every high profile attack raises the risk of another,' Tisch said as she outlined her vision for tackling crime in Gotham. 4 Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch warned that the NYPD is working 'feverishly' to thwart terror attacks following a spate of antisemitic attacks in Washington, DC and Colorado. Matthew McDermott 'Individuals who are already on the edge — they don't need instructions, they need a spark. And what we are doing at the NYPD is working tirelessly, feverishly to make sure that none of these sparks catch fire.' The NYPD honcho pointed specifically to the heinous firebombing carried out in Boulder, Colo. at the weekend that targeted a peaceful pro-Israel march, as well as last month's fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy diplomats in DC. 'What happened in Boulder is, unfortunately, the latest in a growing pattern of rhetoric around the war in the Middle East — shifting from outrage to incitement, from slogans now to direct calls for violence,' Tisch said. 4 An anti-Israel man firebombed Gaza hostage supporters in Boulder, Colorado. 'Unfortunately, as we saw first… with the attack on the Jewish Museum in Washington and then the attack in Boulder the other day, these calls are now being answered.' The city's top cop said the force had bolstered its presence at Jewish sites, schools and institutions following the violence. 'Immediately following the attack on the Jewish Museum in Washington, we surged an unprecedented number of resources in terms of cops, heavy weapons teams, police cars,' she said. 4 Columbia University Anti-Israel protester in handcuffs being arrested by NYPD officers near a police van last year. 'We work cases together with them, and we do a lot of work behind the scenes… to make sure that any lead that we get, any person that we think may be about to commit an act of violence, that we are on top of those cases, and that we are handling them quite aggressively,' Tisch said. 4 Mohamed Soliman throws an incendiary device into a group of pro-Israel supporters in Colorado. '[In] the 20 months since Oct. 7, we have seen hate crimes against Jews in New York City go in one direction — and that is up,' Tisch said. 'Our Hate Crimes Task Force at the NYPD does investigate every instance of bias or a hate crime, but these are clearly unacceptable numbers.'

Bronx suspect wanted for stabbing 39-year-old man to death escaped in cab

A suspect wanted for stabbing a 39-year-old man to death outside a historic former Bronx NYPD stationhouse made his getaway in a cab — where a surveillance camera captured his image, police said Wednesday. Cops on Wednesday released a surveillance image of the suspect taken inside the cab and asked the public's help identifying him and tracking him down. Victim Shamel Parnell got into an argument with his killer before being stabbed in the neck and chest on Bathgate Ave. near E. Tremont Ave. at about 12:20 a.m. Monday, cops said. Medics rushed Parnell to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died about 25 minutes later, officials said. 'I still haven't cried,' the victim's shocked mother, Sherri Parnell, 61, told the Daily News Tuesday. 'I couldn't sleep last night. I still can't believe it.' The stabber fled in a dark-colored cab last seen heading west on E. 179th St., cops said. Cops recovered a knife at the scene. Sherri Parnell hadn't seen her son for more than a decade when he was killed. 'He stayed with me a little when I lived in another part of the Bronx but he'd always be going out, coming in,' she said. 'I didn't know what he was doing,' 'When the officers came yesterday, they showed me a picture and it was him,' she added. 'I haven't seen him in some years, many years really. Approximately 12 years. But that's still my son.' The building Parnell was stabbed in front of housed the NYPD's 48th Precinct for decades but is now home to a Head Start program. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 for its notable architecture. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

NYC Cops Under ATTACK!

Assaults on NYC cops have skyrocketed 63% over the last 6 years and it's no wonder why. I'm Tomi Lahren, more next. According to NY Post reporting, assaults on New York City cops have surged 63% in just the last 6 years. NYPD data shows there have been 970 assaults on uniformed police officers in the city so far this year, up from the 595 officers attacked at the same point in pre-pandemic 2019. Is it really any wonder why? NYC, like many other deep blue felon-coddling cities, is so soft on crime you have to almost BEG to be put behind and then KEPT behind bars. They've got that joke of a DA Alvin Bragg who doesn't even want to prosecute FELONY assaults on cops Arrests are made and the perp is right back out to reoffend It seems Donald Trump is the only person Bragg is interested in throwing the book at. The city is still reeling from the BLM 'defund the police' era and now they've added in the Hamas supporting antisemitic THUGS AND migrant crime into the mix. It's such a proud achievement to be in the NYPD but to all those cops I'd say what I say to all the decent folks residing in these hell hole blue cities, get to a RED state where they value and respect you and the work you do!
