Participating as the chief guest in the Doctors' Day celebrations held at the Clinical Lecture Gallery on Tuesday, Reddy also announced plans to renovate the gallery itself.
Praising the dedication of medical professionals, he said, 'Only doctors are capable of saving lives by treating their profession as a divine calling, working day and night without distinction, and often at the cost of staying away from their families.' Sri Venkateswara Medical College Principal Dr G Ravi Prabhu, in his address, highlighted the pivotal role of doctors in achieving the goals of the 'Viksit Bharat Health Vision 2047' and building a healthier Andhra Pradesh.
Ruia Hospital Superintendent Dr J Radha described doctors as the pillars of a healthy and productive India and stressed the importance of giving them the respect they deserve.
As part of the event, nine doctors, Dr S Subba Rao, Dr S Madhavi Latha, Dr Jagadeesh Babu, Dr Vijaya Bhaskar, Dr Ravi Sankar, Dr Sabitha, Dr Sivakala, Dr Bhuvaneswari and Dr Parameswar Babu, were felicitated for their service.
In a separate programme organised at SVIMS, Director Dr RV Kumar emphasised the nobility of the medical profession. He urged doctors to uphold values while providing care and not to neglect their personal health or the well-being of their families.
SVIMS Dean Dr Alladi Mohan appealed to MBBS students to consider taking up teaching roles for a period after completing their studies to contribute to medical education. Senior Professor of Nephrology Dr Siva Kumar also addressed the gathering and shared insights on the responsibilities and ethical values of the medical profession.

Hry aiming to raise MBBS seats to over 3.4k by '29: CM
Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the state govt was consistently working to provide better resources to the doctors and quality healthcare services to the citizens. He mentioned that medical colleges were being established in every district. While there were only six medical colleges in 2014, the number has now increased to 15, and nine new colleges are under construction. As a result, MBBS seats in the state increased from 700 in 2014 to 2,185, at present. The state govt aims to increase the MBBS seats to over 3,400 by 2029, said Saini. The CM was addressing a gathering as the chief guest at an event organised on National Doctors' Day by the Derabassi Medical Association in Chandigarh. He appreciated the significant contribution of the Derabassi Medical Association in the field of human service, mentioning that a free dialysis centre has been operational at Chaurasia Hospital for the last two years. Extending greetings and best wishes to all doctors, healthcare workers, and those associated with the medical field on National Doctors' Day, Saini said they were the "true servants of humanity". Their spirit of service, dedication, and sensitivity plays a vital role in building a healthy, safe, and empowered society, he added. The CM emphasised that the govt's objective was to ensure that every doctor had access to adequate resources and every citizen received proper treatment. He said, to strengthen the medical infrastructure, the number of postgraduate seats was increased from 289 to 1,043. In addition, there are 155 seats for PG diplomas, he said. To address the shortage of medics, the govt recruited 3,798 doctors since 2014. The retirement age for doctors was also raised from 58 to 65, said Saini. He also elaborated upon the upgrade of healthcare facilities in govt-run hospitals of the state as well as the facilities for the poor and elderly seeking free treatment in private hospitals. The CM said this year's theme for Doctors' Day was "Caring for the caregivers behind the mask". This theme inspires us to appreciate doctors not only for their professional services, but also for their contribution to human welfare. It calls for understanding and fulfilling their needs, he said. He recalled that during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the entire country was indoors, doctors stood by patients wearing the PPE kits while staying away from their families. The CM also felicitated various doctors for their contribution to public service. He also released a magazine of the Derabassi Medical Association.

Dedicate a week every year to serve at Telangana govt hospitals: CM urges corporate doctors
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made an appeal to doctors working at corporate hospitals across the State and Indian-origin doctors settled abroad, urging them to dedicate at least one week every year to serve at government hospitals across the State. 'Even a week of your time spent at a government hospital in Telangana can change lives,' the Chief Minister said while addressing the gathering at the inauguration of a new 300-bed AIG Hospitals facility in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on Wednesday (July 2, 2025). He highlighted that doctors based in the US, UK, and other countries often return home to visit their families, and even a single in-person consultation during such visits can significantly impact patients. 'That one consultation can help set a treatment course and lead to further digital follow-ups,' he said. Five new government hospitals by December 2025 The Chief Minister outlined the government's roadmap for strengthening public healthcare, with five new hospitals currently under development: Osmania General Hospital in Goshamahal, Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Alwal, Sanathnagar and LB Nagar, apart from the NIMS expansion and the super speciality hospital in Warangal. 'These hospitals will give a tough competition to corporate hospitals,' he said, adding that all the three TIMS, NIMS expansion and the Warangal hospital will be ready by December 2025. He further noted the need to improve air connectivity, particularly direct flights from the Middle East, to better serve international patients. Eye on global care work opportunities Looking beyond Telangana, Mr. Reddy announced plans to tap into the global caregiving economy, especially in countries like Japan, which is grappling with an aging population. 'India has the youngest population, and Japan has the oldest. We will train our professionals in medical caregiving skills and Japanese language to meet the growing demand there,' he said. The initiative is part of the State's broader economic vision Telangana Rising – 2047, which aims to transform Telangana into a $1 trillion economy over the next decade. 'If India aims for a $30 trillion economy by 2047, Telangana must do its part,' he added. AIG expands D. Nageshwar Reddy, chairman of AIG Hospitals, said the new Banjara Hills branch is a response to longstanding requests from residents of Secunderabad and central Hyderabad. 'This hospital addresses growing travel difficulties and will help patients access world-class care closer to home,' he said. Recalling the journey of AIG Hospitals, which began 25 years ago in Somajiguda as a 300-bed facility focused solely on gastroenterology, Dr. Reddy shared how a pivotal moment came with a visit by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. 'Seeing the overcrowding at our Somajiguda facility, he told us, 'We will give you land, go and build the best hospital in the world,'' Dr. Reddy recalled his conversation with the former Chief Minster. Since then, AIG has evolved into a nationally renowned institution, publishing over 1,000 scientific papers, contributing to 50 medical textbooks, training more than 1,500 medical professionals, and pioneering several techniques in gastroenterology.

On Doctors' Day, Delhi CM Gupta vows to transform capital into medical hub
New Delhi: Marking Doctors' Day , Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta engaged with the city's medical fraternity on Tuesday, where she lauded the role of doctors in nation-building and outlined her government's roadmap to develop the capital into a premier medical hub. In a gathering held at the Delhi Secretariat, the chief minister met with eminent members of the medical community under the banner of the Delhi Medical Forum. In her address, Gupta described doctors as "messengers of God" and acknowledged their unparalleled service to society, particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. She urged them to support the government's efforts to reform Delhi's struggling healthcare infrastructure and asked for a symbolic "return gift" on Doctors' Day - their collaboration and guidance to make the city a model for citizen-centric healthcare. Cabinet minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa was also present at the event, along with medical professionals, who were felicitated for their contributions. The chief minister proposed the establishment of a dedicated medical university in Delhi to offer world-class education and further boost the city's medical profile. "Just like Kota is known for education, Delhi should become the first choice for quality treatment," she said. Later in the day, Gupta attended a special programme titled Sant Ishwar Samvad at the LNJP Hospital, where she hailed doctors as divine figures. "When the thread of life weakens, it is the doctor's hand that holds it together," she remarked. Addressing gaps in the healthcare system, Gupta pointed out the discrepancy between Delhi's image and the actual state of infrastructure. Talking about how Delhi has just 0.42 government hospital beds per 1,000 people, Gupta announced, "We aim to raise that to at least three beds per 1,000 in the next five years." The chief minister highlighted several recent initiatives, including the permanent appointment of 1,500 nurses after a 15-year delay, the revival of 24 long-defunct hospital campuses, and plans to open Jan Aushadhi Kendras in all government hospitals - with 17 already operational. Modern diagnostic machines such as CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasound equipment are being procured on priority. To ensure better accountability, each government hospital will soon have a dedicated superintendent. Basic facilities such as waiting areas, clean toilets, and drinking water are also being upgraded. Emphasising the government's 24x7 mission-mode approach, she reiterated her commitment to improving medical infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities, and creating a stress-free environment for doctors. Additionally, she also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for transforming healthcare and education across the country and pledged to make "Viksit Delhi" a reality in line with that vision.
